At a press conference in Japan, Nintendo announced that a new Punch-Out!! game will be coming to the Wii. No other related news is currently available, but we're guessing it'll share some similarities with the boxing stage from Wii Fit.
Update: Check out videos right here, where Punch-Out!! is shown as a 2009 release.

Awesome find! There were so many games that caught my eye in that video. A Trace Memory Wii game? Hope it's more like Hotel Dusk than the original. And was that a brief glimpse of Sin & Punishment 2? And a whole lot of RPG games shown in that video too. Hope to hear more about those unknown games soon.

Have to admire Nintendo for letting E3 '08 happen while saving this gem (and Another Code 2 for Wii!) for two months later. Can't wait to find out more.

You're... you're talking about me, aren't you?
And Massive Damage? Dude... I saw some games to get excited about, but Massive Damage? All Nintendo really showed is that they are still making games. Golf Claps all around. Most of these games look like spruced up "same games." I don't get it. Sony and Microsoft catch no end of shit for doing the same thing but Nintendo gets applauded... oh well.

Punch out is epic damage? Really??? Ok well take the fact that I never cared about the series out, you're still saying a boxing game is hardcore and "epic damage".
You didn't see me laughing at you guys when the new Fight Night was announced. So sit down and relax, you're too desperate to rub it in to the doubters that you're grabbing at games that really aren't that much of a big deal. It'll basically be the boxing game in wii sports but with better graphics and no miis.

I'm just thankful it's coming in 2009, I can't afford any more games this fall.
And there are a lot of good looking games in that conference video. A lot.

I agree Mr. Fondu,
Nothing wrong with being innovative but i feel some games should just utilize the classic controls and have "waggle" as an alternate control option.
Either way, IMO Punch Out is just as nostalgic as Street Fighter, if not more so in my age group (28yrs old).

No one, as Tatsunoko is not a japanese word, but more of the name of the company that produced many of those anime that are featuring on the game

Cool.
After playing Boom Blox, I now have two reasons to keep my Wii.
Keep the fun coming, Nintendo.
