That being said, if punching (!!!!!!!!) isn't your thing, perhaps you're open to other forms of punishment. You'll find footage of Treasure's shooty sequel, Sin & Punishment 2, after the break.

Mushroom men looks interesting. Gamecock might have a hit.
Why will it take till sometime in 2009 for a game (Punchout) that should have been there from day 1 or close to it. And don't tell me development time Reggie, this is NOT KZ2, or Gears2, or MGS4, or GT5. This is a simple game with simple graphics. Were they waiting for Wiimotion Plus? Ironically the Sixaxis already HAS what WM+ will have.
Still, about fracking time Nintendo!!!

If it uses WM+, it'll have been worth the wait. Wii Sports and Wii Fit boxing aren't bad (especially if you've ever boxed before, you know), but the room for improvement is obvious.
That said, I actually agree with you KillJeebus. Mushroom Men looks freakin' awesome. It's my most anticipated game for the rest of the year.

You are very wrong. Sixaxis doesnt have the same precision or sensibility than the current Wii Remote.

Haha oh god. What the hell kind of an argument is that? It should've been there from day one, why? Do you seriously think every game out there should start development as soon as or before the console is released, the release date itself only determined by how long it took to finish?
You're coming across as very bitter. You're grasping at straws, trying to find anything to knock on Nintendo for the sake of it. You're a sad little tool.

Instead of a simple remake what would have been cool would have been to do sort of a prequel going through the story the trainer (mac?) while he was a boxer. They could have set it in an earlier era than the original punchout.
Punchout still remains one of my favorite Nintendo games of all time and I have high hopes that this remake might be worth purchasing.
The problem with the mechanics and setup of the game is it makes it impossible to have multiplayer. Especially considering the fixed view of the characters.

Finally. A reason to buy a Wii.
I bet there's no Iron Mike at the end though. Sadface.

Sin and punishment is going to be some thing special I hope but Punch out looks pretty promising... as long as they don't screw up the controls.

Finally, a reason for me to own a Wii. I will most certainly be buying one for this game. Can't wait!

Punch Out looks amazing graphically, I guess we'll have to wait and see how the gameplay holds up.

I wish the fighters still did those weird weeble wobble KO's that took them like 3 seconds to fall down. Also the sound effects while they were wobbling were great.

Completely agree with you on that.
The video games industry seems to have really been flourishing over the past couple of years and while my wallet hates it, dammit if I can't feel excited!

Actually, the times already changed for Treasure on the GBA and DS. Note Gunstar Super Heroes, Advance Guardian Heroes, Bangai-O Spirits, and then Bleach DS and Bleach DS 2nd. They're being the whore for Bleach again with a new Wii game (Bleach: Versus Crusade).

Is it me, or in the sin and punishment trailer is she (he?) carrying a Glados eye in the back?

I was thinking the exact same thing. Hopefully it's just an early build and they've still got a lot of flair to add. *crosses fingers*

Punch-Out!! is not my thing, but Sin & Punishment 2 looks fantastic, were samfish and I the only people here who actually watched it??
BTW, why can I never actually change my avatar on Joystiq? It tells me it might take 5 minutes update, but it never does anything.

OK; thanks. I'm using Opera, so I did (reluctantly) boot up IE and see if it made any difference. I'll grab FireFox and give it a go. Had Chrome installed but I took it off because that retarded GoogleUpdate.exe was crashing my system.

I have this same problem, and I've tried every browser trying to fix it to no avail.
It still pisses me off. I try not to think about it.

I liked Super Punch Out on SNES, it was one of my favorite games by far. But this looks like a carbon copy, only it has "more pixels". Of course unlike 360 and PS3, Nintendo will get a pass, while if it were 360 or PS3 they would be criticized for making the same exact thing.
But anyway, it looks nice but it looks more like something that would be on Xbox Live Arcade or PSN Store.

Really? I thought it was totally ok for Microsoft and Sony to come out with the same games over and over again as long as the games look pretty. Cause you know, that makes it hardcore.
