AC/DC track pack to include Achievements, Trophies
49
It's difficult for us to get excited about anything nowadays unless it includes some method of bolstering our confidence in our own talents. Imagine our delight when we read a recent Rock Band forum post by a Harmonix employee, who confirmed that the recently announced Rock Band 2 AC/DC track pack will have its own unique Achievements/Trophies. While the logistics of how this will work are hazy (will they be added to the pre-existing awards of Rock Band 2, or only be accessible from the AC/DC disc?), we can't wait to see how our duck walk stacks up to Angus Young's.

Hm, 1000 AC/DC achievement points...
You know, the 40 bucks is starting to sound reasonable.

Yeah, I like many of the songs but 40 dollars is a lot to drop when you are like me. ION Drums, 100% DLC, Need/want of new Guitar and Bass and Mic....
Ill still get this but I might wait till someone hands me a gift certificate or coupon. I'd like to see screens and see if it includes new venues or anything other then songs and achievments.

Oh come on! Some text for arbitrary accomplishments don't justify a price-tag!

They aren't cheaper than normal price. They're over two dollars each, which is the high end for DLC (I usually buy in the packs which are discounted).
The price of the songs included on the game discs so far has been in the dollar (for RB1) or sub-dollar (for RB2) range.

It's not cheaper then normal though. I think we have 18 tracks. That a little over 2.00 dollars a song. Rockband tracks are normally 2 dollars. Rock Band 2 ships with 84 (plus 20 free DLC) songs for 60 dollars. The Best of Who Album, 20 bucks for what 15-16 tracks? Pixies Album 16-18 tracks for 20 Dollars..
It's a fair deal at best but limiting where it's sold will allow no competitive pricing, something a CAG member wont appreciate.

I guess it wouldn't be too hard on the 360 , but I don't know how they intend to get this to work on the PS3 , will Rock Band Vanilla get a trophy patch ?

Not so my friend. The AC/DC disk is standalone for Wii and PS2. For 360/PS3 it will download the songs onto the hard drive (similar to the way you import RB1 songs to RB2, only with the AC/DC disk you can only do this once). So, yes, it is news that this has achievement points.

"All tracks from the AC/DC LIVE: Rock Band Track Pack will also be available for play in Rock Band and Rock Band 2[1] by entering a special export authentication code for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system versions."
So unless something's changed between the official annoucement and now that AC/DC Live is nothing more than a disc based DLC pack...

Indeed, "ALSO", like Rock Band 1, you can play it, or you can export it's tracks, or you can do both.

I was listening to an interview with a guy the other day who has studied how music ends up kind of hardwired into our brains and memories. While I don't queue up AC/DC just to listen to anymore, should it happen to come on the radio, I can't help by still like it due to the large number of good party memories still associated with their songs. Even if I wanted to hate AC/DC, I'm not sure my brain would let me.

what I meant to say is that while I enjoy AC/DC, this game is a little too expensive for my tastes. However, I wish it the best of luck and plan to pick it up when the price drops.

Things that are exclusive to Wal-Mart typically become bargains within a short period of time. Wal-Mart buys a certain number of units of a product and sends them to the stores without taking into consideration things like demand. Expect to find this at your local Wal-Mart for $20 within two or three months out from it's release. I've bought discounted Wal-Mart "exclusives" like Chibi-Robo DS and a DS Value Pack w/ Elite Beat Agents well under what they were initially priced for. If you live by a rural Wal-Mart, expect the price drops sooner.

Do you really think that one is better?
It generates things like this: http://achievements.schrankmonster.de/Achievement.aspx?text=testingtestingtestingtestingtestingtestingtestingtestingtestingtestingtestingtestingtestingtestingtesting
Oversized image.
And has ad below the image.
Mine has high resolution graphics (up to 200px height), 3rl option, it's in five languages and has no ads in the generated image.
And never give you an oversized image.

Since you will most likely be using it over another image, you can easily crop out the ad, and edit to fit.
Your's is good, but the text is just, well, off. Need to refine the text.

I like how the Red Hot Chilli Peppers 20 track cd is $20 or $2 per song and this is 18 songs for $40 making it more than the standard $2 per song.
I enjoy AC/DC but this is rape.

"Rock Band will still feature preselected three-song packs for download, but they will instead cost $5.49 (440 Microsoft points on Xbox 360). Songs will also be available individually for $1.99. Harmonix has said future songs will be sold individually for as little as $.99 (80 Microsoft points), and as much as $2.99 (240 points). However, "the vast majority" will come in at the standard $1.99 price point."
That was published in Nov. of 2007. A few days prior to RB's launch.
We all wondered what kind of song would cost more than $2. Well, here's your answer.

The songs cost 22 cents more per track than the usual $2. They're just not cutting anyone a discount for buying the entire disc like they would if it were DLC. If you'd pay $2 per song and you like AC/DC it's not a horrible deal. Hell it's still cheaper than what you'd pay if it were DLC for GH3. Besides, it'll be discounted within a few weeks of release.

You know what JSN, I just looked through your comment history.
Being a Harmonix fanboy that went as far as trying to defend the EU pricing of RB, would you honestly stick up for this track pack if it was released for GH:WT instead? Or would you bash it like the same hypocrite fanboys that bashed GH:A,even though it offers infinitely better value than AC/DC TP(18 songs for $30 or Fully-functional game with 41 songs for $60)?
Don't even bother answering.

To the people complaining about the price:
If HMX said "Yeah, we were gonna make an AC/DC disc, but it would have ended up costing $40, so we decided to go in a different direction."
There would be 8x as many complaints.
