Rumor: Disney characters coming to LittleBigPlanet

As you put the finishing touches on your latest laborious LittleBigPlanet masterpiece, you make a startling realization -- something is missing. Your homebrewed LittleBigLocale is missing its keystone; without this necessary component, your hours of work will have been for naught. The component is, of course, a statue of Horace Horsecollar and his bovine betrothed, Clarabelle Cow.

While the previous sentence likely only made sense to people who watched cartoons in the 1930s, the following will probably be clearer -- according to the latest revolution of Electronic Gaming Monthly's rumor mill, LittleBigPlanet DLC is set to include non-sony property, such as characters from Disney franchises and 3rd-party PlayStation titles. We're not sure in what capacity these properties could be included in Media Molecule's uber-customizable platformer, but we're certainly excited about the prospective existence of SackBaloo.

Who really cares about Mickey and friends. Mickey Mouse is more of a corporate logo than an actual relevant cartoon character. I would like it if characters like Toy Story come to life. Great now I can make penis levels with Buzz and Woody. Woody....ehh...Woody...Penis you get it?

I used to read Mickey comics back when I was living in France, and I've got to admit that they were pretty entertaining. It wasn't Winnie the Pooh, it actually had some fun and wit to it.

I am old enough to remember going to the theater on Saturday for a matinee and seeing Mickey cartoons but seriously that was years ago. Today Mickey is not the same IP as it was when I was growing up. If this is true then I would rather see more current characters like The Incredibles.

Clearly you don't have young children and don't watch Disney channel programming. Mickey in the current Mickey Mouse Club is actually a regular character, rather than cartoon short fodder as he was back in the good old days. He's much more than the shows' logo like he was back in your day. Much more relavant too.

I do have kids but neither one really cares about Mickey or the classic cartoons. They are more into the more modern Disney cartoons. Trust me I have seen Toy Story a hundred times :( lol

expect 2-4 a day until it comes out, then for the first 2 weeks after it comes out there will be a post about it at least every other day. Then expect a biweekly update about the game and possible updates to it, sales figures, etc.

In fact I can't really think of any 360 exclusive that I really want Joystiq to cover since I'm certain they are high quality already and don't need Joystiq's pimping...

And clearly I'm not the only one who feels the same way when it comes to LBP.

Besides tmac I hear you're in the beta of the next "just wait until" game for the ps3? Shouldn't you be enjoying the 2nd Coming of Christ game on your precious ps3 sony fanboy?

Fable II won't get as much attention because it is what it is

But i imagine LBP's story flame flaring out quickly, since this is going to be a fast-paced holiday season for gamer news, and their resources will be locked up.

I don't think its a horrible idea - I just hope that the partnerships they're making doesn't make the game look cheap in any way at the end like a huge ad.

I'd like to see major movie producers to make levels/add characters to the game to promote their work, sounds like a pretty awesome way to advertise.

I don't think Disney need the advertising as much as Sony need this to be a great game.

To be fair to Sony, they've done a good job so far. The Beta craze was a fantastic publicity stunt, it's a fantastic game, and it looks like some great DLC is on the way.

i got in the beta :D and people who hates on littlebigplanet should play it 1st and then talk all your bull****... littlebigplanet is indeed really really fun.. anyone played the level call grand theft auto littlebigplanet??? i had fun in that level but it needed more cops lol

Like the guys on this weeks 1up Yours said, Sony are trying to hit the casuals with this, but will likely be met with blank faces and "huh? You have to make the game?" when trying to explain it.

Stick the 2nd most recognisable character in the world on the game though, and you don't have to explain it.
Just look at Kingdom Hearts.

I got a LittleBigPlanet beta key from the G4 giveaway. I was skeptical at first, but from the opening seconds of the game I knew it was an instant classic. I know Azureknight has taken a pretty negative stance with the game due to the massive levels of hype, but it's all completely deserved. Playing LittleBigPlanet is like experiencing video games for the first time again. I really don't know how else to put it.

Don't worry, AzureKnight mainly hates it for the sole fact its on a Sony console, a corporation he despises to the core of his soul, and yet has never stated why he hates it so much. My guess is because he's all pissy about the "racist" white PSP commercial back in 2005 but just a hypothesis.

Why all the hate on Disney? Sure, the Disney Channel's full of crap like Hannah Montana or whatever, but classic Disney characters rock and hold a lot of nostalgia for people, probably mostly girls. Now, if they try inserting some Zach and Cody Suite Life shit up in there, I will be pissed.
