voted xkcd for the large amount of truthiness.
#28 @ Oct 4th 2008 6:16PM
I don't think that word means what you think it means.

Morisato @ Oct 4th 2008 6:31PM
"Oh, I think he does"
(said from the console fanboy)
Will @ Oct 4th 2008 6:40PM
Psh, my vocabulary doesn't obey Stephen Colbert.
Besides, I think the fact web games are more addicting than super-console-games sometimes -is- truth from the gut.
Morisato @ Oct 4th 2008 7:53PM
Told ya!
Chuck Norris may be able to slam a revolving door, but he can't know everything.
Will @ Oct 4th 2008 8:36PM
Chuck Norris slamming a revolving door is for losers.
If you want a real manly man, slam Chuck Norris into a revolving door.
snarfoogle @ Oct 4th 2008 10:35PM
Shouldn't we judge comics by how funny they are?
Monkeydog @ Oct 4th 2008 10:53PM
@snarfoogle
Well obviously we should.
And luckily xkcd is the funniest web comic in all the land.
brian @ Oct 5th 2008 2:09AM
since when are all comics funny?
there "comics" not "comedy".
there's a difference.
A Pissed-off English Gamer @ Oct 5th 2008 8:37AM
"Shouldn't we judge comics by how funny they are?"
No. Some comics are funny but with very little actual message, it might be un-concise, or the art may not be as good as others, or the writing fairly meh. Voting purely on comedic value is phail.
BigD145 @ Oct 5th 2008 1:06PM
Voted XKCD because it was the only funny one in the whole lineup.
#28 @ Oct 4th 2008 6:19PM
Monday Night Crew is really just a poor Bloom county knockoff for videogames.
MNC Dover @ Oct 4th 2008 6:26PM
Sweet! I love Bloom County and would be happy with a tenth of that strips success. Just wondering about the comparison though, is it due to the animal characters?
#28 @ Oct 4th 2008 6:39PM
A bit of the characters, drawing style and humor delivery all add up to the sub par bloom county experience.
Haggard (Mr.ESC died for our sins) @ Oct 5th 2008 12:28PM
I actually thought that the Monday Night Crew one was the funniest of this (quite poor) lot.
You'd think during the most frantic season of game releases webcomic makers would have something to talk about..
Ranus Studios @ Oct 4th 2008 6:22PM
xkcd for truth.
Dig @ Oct 4th 2008 6:55PM
I also agree with the alt-text in the image.
WilhelmThe1st @ Oct 4th 2008 6:22PM
Ehh... pretty weak week in my opinion. None of them even brought a smile or a chuckle, let alone a laugh.
Ethan @ Oct 4th 2008 6:33PM
So in 9 months Wiispeak will have a camera?
burgerbat @ Oct 4th 2008 6:35PM
Gotta be the Braid Dueling Analogs strip. xkcd's strip is not very funny, kids. It's just true. Sad and true.
A Pissed-off English Gamer @ Oct 5th 2008 8:44AM
When did truth sop having merit!? Seriously, these posts are demoralising. The net statement of all those disappointed is "Why aren't they making me laugh!" Well a few of these comics aren't designed to be explicitly hilarious; that's what VGcats tries everytime, and is usually why it wins. People seem to think webcomics are exclusively for humour.
capt_carl @ Oct 4th 2008 6:37PM
Trick of Retrospective hands down. That comic is my wallpaper because it totally described the feeling I felt playing Mega Man 9.
Patient J @ Oct 7th 2008 12:46AM

hvnlysoldr @ Oct 4th 2008 7:55PM

Morisato @ Oct 4th 2008 7:56PM
"Go Planet!"
Captain Planet, he's our hero
Gonna take pollution down to zero
He's our powers magnified
And he's fighting on the planet's side
Captain Planet, he's our hero
Gonna take pollution down to zero
Gonna help him put asunder
Bad guys who like to loot and plunder
"You'll pay for this Captain Planet!"
We're the Planeteers
You can be one too
'Cause saving our planet is the thing to do!
Looting and polluting is not the way
Hear what Captain Planet has to say!
"The Power is Yours!"
Titanium_Orchid @ Oct 4th 2008 8:37PM

Jeff0 @ Oct 4th 2008 6:51PM
XKCD didn't even make me crack a smile. Penny Arcade fully deserve to win. I also liked the new IH actually

Ghen @ Oct 4th 2008 9:39PM
Penny Arcade made me say aww how cute but not funny... xkcd and DU got little chuckles.
Mr Khan @ Oct 4th 2008 6:53PM
DU made me chuckle, PA, xkcd, and Vidcons all had good messages
You can see the future of Wii in the DSi, certainly.
Neebs @ Oct 4th 2008 7:00PM
xkcd for truth
wilsoncp @ Oct 4th 2008 7:22PM
XKCD (puzzle pirates) FTW!
FiredCylinder @ Oct 4th 2008 7:04PM
I usually make it a point not to vote for Penny Arcade. They're usually good, but the fanboyism surrounding them usually gets them more votes than I think they deserve. However, this week they absolutely deserved my vote.
Ace @ Oct 4th 2008 7:16PM
I always look at each participant in the Webcomic Wrapup but I never vote. I have my biases towards Penny Arcade, but in general the type of humor and presentation is so different for each "contestant" that it is difficult to say which one is the "best".
However, this week I have to voice my opinion. There is so much that rings true with "A Trick of Retrospective" that I can't NOT vote for it. Not only is Mike Krahulik making leaps and bounds in his art, but this one is so genuine and well executed that I think it is one of the best comics I have seen period.
Isn't this what gaming is, in essence? Ditching adulthood for short periods at a time? There must be those that agree; Gabe has made a couple posts about the staggering popularity of this particular comic.
Mr Khan @ Oct 4th 2008 7:26PM
that it is difficult to say which one is the "best".
Aye, i think it would be better to have a rating system per comic than to actually vote. Voting gives one vote to one comic, leaving you no proper voice on how you felt about the others. Ratings would more accurately reflect each comic's performance
Would be a bit more time-consuming, but not much more so to those who read all the comics before voting anyway.
Mr ESC,Lives Again. @ Oct 4th 2008 7:24PM
That reminds me I haven't passed a single level of Megaman 9 or finished Bionic Commando rearmed.
MM9 is kinda of hard but just because the space you have to perform a jump is very tight.
DBuck_Eye @ Oct 4th 2008 7:43PM
Dear PA fanboys,
I urge you to look into your heart and realize that PA is not the funniest comic this week.
samfish @ Oct 4th 2008 7:59PM
It is one of the truest, though.
MowDownJoe @ Oct 4th 2008 8:54PM
And after the funny wore off, I could still look at the comic and go "AWWWW" at 10-year-old Tycho and Gabe.
Seriously... it's too cute.
sstadnicki @ Oct 4th 2008 10:54PM
Except that remarkably enough, the article doesn't ask you to vote for the funniest webcomic, it asks you to vote for the best. And this week, as much as I totally agree with xkcd and love DU -- that's Penny Arcade, hands down.
MadMup @ Oct 4th 2008 10:55PM
Why does Castle Vidcons keep making this list week after week?
