Activision clarifies Guitar Hero World Tour pricing
With no pricing details explicitly stated before, it wasn't surprising when a few people were confused and contacted us about Guitar Hero World Tour showing up as a $240 bundle on Red Octane's official site -- especially when the company doesn't seem to be offering a non-deluxe bundle. The special bundle adds to the normal instrument and game package: a t-shirt (Male XL only), battery charger, key chain and guitar case. The standard pricing for GHWT, direct from Activision:
- $190 for the full band kit on PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii.
- $180 for the full band kit on PS2.
- $100 for the guitar/game bundle on Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii.
- $90 for the guitar/game bundle on PS2.

Do you guys have a link to cite the pricing for the guitar / game bundle? I'm not seeing it on the Red Octane site, nor anywhere like Best Buy or Gamestop.
That guy @ Oct 6th 2008 8:31PM
Woo! $320 looks like the better bargain for me!
Night Elve @ Oct 7th 2008 9:01AM
Kudos to you! Explosm fucking rocks!
ItalianStallion @ Oct 6th 2008 8:37PM
I'm sorry, but that drum set still looks pretty gimmicky and fakey. I definitely won't be getting the bundle. Looks kinda cheesy.
theturtle363 @ Oct 6th 2008 8:39PM
no shit it's a drum set for a video game
KVN @ Oct 6th 2008 9:03PM
Yeah it can't be any worse than the RB2 Drumset.
Delgado @ Oct 6th 2008 9:54PM
I got the chance to play it at ACL a bit ago, and the drums are awesome. You actually feel like you're playing drums with the elevated cymbals, and they felt WAY sturdier than RB1 drums (I haven't had a chance to play with the RB2 set).
Bigfoot @ Oct 6th 2008 8:39PM
I wish we'd just get GF/DM and call it a day.
Kindrik @ Oct 6th 2008 9:00PM
Didn't someone from Activision say at some point that World Tour would cost less than Rock Band?

They said "priced competitively" not "cheaper"
Read articles, people.
Jakka(A tribute to whose who fought and failed during the Epic Flamewar of L.A. Noir and MR.ESC) @ Oct 7th 2008 11:34AM
Well, it is cheaper for "us"...
Mrblonde @ Oct 6th 2008 9:05PM
They should offer the instruments to be bought separate as well and not in one bundle.
Kindrik @ Oct 6th 2008 9:51PM
If I remember correctly, Rock Band didn't have standalone guitars or drums right away. I think they waited a bit and then got those out there so they'll probably do the same with Guitar Hero.
umm....hello??? @ Oct 7th 2008 1:06PM
I already have GH2 (bundle), GH3 (disc only), RB (bundle) and RB2 (disc only)....this'll have to wait until it's released as disc only without the instruments...(for x360 so everything is compatible)...
MarkHawk @ Oct 6th 2008 9:12PM
Doesn't seem terrible. I'll be picking up the 100 360 bundle. Considering it's all wireless and Red Octane has a good track record with their instruments, you shouldn't feel to ripped off. Im more of a Rock Band 2 person but I have no problem picking this up now that my ION drum set will work on it.
Clinton RRoD sept.3 @ Oct 6th 2008 9:13PM
well seems like the price is gonna keep going up and up
lgndk11r @ Oct 6th 2008 9:28PM
I'm surprised there isn't a price for just the drum kit or a drum/game bundle; great for us with working GHIII Les Pauls.
lgndk11r @ Oct 6th 2008 9:29PM
Any options for us GH3 users besides 'game only'? Like a standalone drum set?
Gun Barrier @ Oct 6th 2008 9:32PM
So Wii version is getting next gen tax? :(
Gewurz Man just wasted 200 Wii points @ Oct 6th 2008 10:08PM
Considering the guitar and drums are essentially controller "shells", you'd think it would be less, wouldn't you?
Slayer @ Oct 6th 2008 10:16PM
Wow that's just odd as hell...
BPMOmega [gamertag] @ Oct 7th 2008 1:24AM
Yeah, considering that the drums and guitar attach to the Wii Remote, using it as its wireless connection (and the guitar uses the Wii Remote's accelorometers for Star Power), you would think they'd be cheaper than guitars that have that tech included.
Unless there's some sort of licensing fee associated with making a Wii Remote attachment... Much like how there's a licensing fee to use Microsoft's wireless technology for 360.
Slayer @ Oct 6th 2008 10:19PM
Those prices seem fair enough to me.
Red Leader @ Oct 6th 2008 10:25PM
You know what would be awesome? If Guitar Hero/Rock Band didn't rip off everyone too dumb to realize they're buying the same game over and over.
RavenPaul @ Oct 7th 2008 12:48AM
Ha Ha, right you are! That's why I'll only be buying the game itself, not more "instruments". And I think the drums look rediculious.
MarkHawk @ Oct 7th 2008 2:49AM
I like Rock Band 2... I just wanted more songs and some bug fixes. Add feayures are a bonus. Now Shovel ware... there is a fight I'd support you on.
RavenPaul @ Oct 7th 2008 12:50AM
And I forgot to mention, I'm only buying it used at the cheapest possible price. I do want some new songs to sing.
treqie @ Oct 7th 2008 1:45AM
I had hopes for a lower price on Wii.. but no, wohoo!
Rocketboy @ Oct 7th 2008 9:38AM
I already have a guitar, how about a drum and software package?
Turkish Superman @ Oct 7th 2008 6:12PM
Wow, I could buy an entire video card for the price of one game!
jake @ Oct 16th 2008 7:43AM
