Super sleuth Spencer from Siliconera found something interesting at the Japanese site for Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time: a menu screen. It might not seem like a big deal, but one of the selectable options on that menu screen shows the game to have a feature that allows gamers to connect with players from other regions than their home. Why would Square Enix put this in the game if it wasn't destined for release in North America? We really can't think of a reason.
We suggest you head on over to the site and do some poking around. Also, it looks like there'll be some wallpapers and whatnot available for download on October 10th.

No. And there are no MMOs for Wii or DS on the horizon.
At best, I think we'll keep seeing Phantasy Star Online-type online RPGs.

doubtful. ninty knows full well that some of the best fun a person can have with a game is online. i believe that, soon enough, the Wii will be exactly like the NDS except with better online play, more online games, and more core games while still keeping the casual audience satisfied.
