New games this week: Fracture edition
LucasArts' big farewell to game development continues this week with the release of terraforming actioner Fracture. Is it as exciting as a terraforming motorcycle? It is not. But if you're looking for action this week, it's pretty much the best you're going to do.
If you're a sports fan though, you've got a double dribble of b-ball action with NBA Live 2009 and NBA 2K9 (thank goodness they're in the same week too, because we just used up all of the basketball lingo at our disposal). Check out the full list after the break.

I was considerng getting Fracture, just because LucasArt, but it received a 5.9 from IGN, so I pass.
I will better get some MS and Wii points...
kaneda @ Oct 6th 2008 10:04AM
I was looking forward to it too, until I played the demo.
Naota @ Oct 6th 2008 1:46PM
Wow, do you listen to everything a gaming website will tell you? Get a mind of your own.
Mr ESC,Lives Again. @ Oct 6th 2008 1:59PM
I hated the controls but deforming the terrain was fun, reminds me of populous but I wouldn't play that game online.
Not bad ,not good either and really what’s up with using the analog stick button to Aim? I hated it in Halo and I still hate it.
Tip:Buy Silent Hill Homecomming.Best SH since 3.
Arnon @ Oct 6th 2008 4:07PM
Naota.. the demo pretty much explained the game =/
xFenixKnightx @ Oct 6th 2008 9:47AM

ExMcCloud @ Oct 6th 2008 10:09AM
NBA 2K9 FTW!!!!
Is my blackness showing?
Morisato @ Oct 6th 2008 10:30AM
Yes. Yes it is.
Deeznuts420 @ Oct 6th 2008 10:51AM
i get 2k9 today in the mail! :D :D
Mr ESC,Lives Again. @ Oct 6th 2008 2:03PM
I would add a joke about your penis showing but nah that would be too simple.
baby sea tuna @ Oct 6th 2008 10:02AM
No thanks. I'm sure I've got plenty to keep me busy until Dead Space, or whatever the next fun thing to come out is.
xFenixKnightx @ Oct 6th 2008 10:14AM
Yezzir, Dead Space next week fo sho! I'm almost finished with PURE (which is crazy fun and looks gorgeos btw) and I'll get to finishing SW: TFU by this weekend. Then I can get my space mutant killing on.
Fanboy @ Oct 6th 2008 10:09AM
after playing the demo, I think I'll hold off until deadspace next Tuesday
ExMcCloud @ Oct 6th 2008 10:15AM
Wow I think my comment got removed? Lolz.....Is is rascist for a black man to say he's showing his blackness when he speaks of his love for the 2K9?(NBA that is)
xFenixKnightx @ Oct 6th 2008 10:19AM
Check again, its there. Ya silly sally. :P
baby sea tuna @ Oct 6th 2008 10:25AM
Yeah, if a comment doesn't show up on here, 9-times-out-of-10 it's because of a hiccup in the system. You'd think they'd have fixed that by now...
MC Double Def DP @ Oct 6th 2008 10:26AM
Your comment is there. Don't be so quick to blame the white man. But I agree, NBA2K9 is looking amazing.
ExMcCloud @ Oct 6th 2008 10:29AM
Name a situation that I can't blame the white man for....lolz
Haggard (Mr.ESC resurrected on a... thursday?!) @ Oct 6th 2008 10:47AM
@ExMcCloud
I've sat here for five minutes trying to think of a riposte, and there's literally nothing.
Deeznuts420 @ Oct 6th 2008 10:52AM
*raises fist*
Cellien @ Oct 6th 2008 11:26AM
@ExMccould:
Something you can't blame whiteman for?
Black culture not lifting itself from events of long since past, instead of blaming everything on other races and using it as a crutch in society.
You asked! :)
Antagonist @ Oct 6th 2008 11:27AM
"Name a situation that I can't blame the white man for....lolz"
Black on black crime.

"Name a situation that I can't blame the white man for...."
I raise you Soulja Boy...then again one of the responses in SB meets Braid news was "We freed slaves for this shit!?" so I suppose we can still be blamed...
Titanium_Orchid @ Oct 6th 2008 12:24PM
Peanut Butter?
ExMcCloud @ Oct 6th 2008 12:40PM
@ Cellien
Thats a tricky situation but Black culture through out history have always had a problem coming up on its own and getting rid of its destructive nature because everything we have that is or was positive is takien away....i.e. Martin Luther King, John F. Kennedy, Robert F. Kennedy, and many other pro black supporters...And they are all eliminated by THE WHITE MAN...Then things that are created by Black culture like Hip-Hop white people take immediately and flip it to make sure we can't call it our own. Now hip-hop is Rap music and is a form of POP so it doesnt give the pro black message anymore....That's all because of the WHITE MAN
@Antagonist
Yours is easier THE WHITE MAN put drugs and firearms in the inner cities....Poverty and drug use lead to violence...With this in mind THE WHITE MAN can create a sense of Fear and hatred for the minority communities and make us look like Junkies and killers. Which is actually fairly accurate BUT this is only because poverty lads to a by any means necessary kind of mentality....
I just blamed both of your issues on THE WHITE MAN....see how easy that was
ExMcCloud @ Oct 6th 2008 12:48PM
I have to say Titanium gave the best answer...I'm still laughing
Antagonist @ Oct 6th 2008 1:16PM
@ExMcCloud
Well played. A bit of a reach, but well played nonetheless. For some reason I'm just now reminded of Hooper X.

j.howlett @ Oct 6th 2008 10:18AM
it's more like a triple double with ps3 getting 3 basketball games and 360 getting 2. i understand though since double dribble is all the lingo you know and was a fun basketball game back in the day.
Fernando Rocker @ Oct 6th 2008 10:26AM
How good are the Nancy Drew titles?
I like adventures games, but I haven't played any new adventure games (well, only the Telltale games)...
Morisato @ Oct 6th 2008 10:33AM
NANCY DREW IS AWESOME!! Read the books... it'll bring you back to a simpler time. lol
Ghen @ Oct 6th 2008 1:22PM
On second thought, just read a hardy boys book (any one, they're all the same) and just imagine more poodle skirts and sewing the bad guys into a jail cell.
danny. @ Oct 6th 2008 10:35AM
They're still making Army Men games?
Didn't Nitrobike come out a long time ago?
that guy @ Oct 6th 2008 10:50AM
Yeah, I also had to think twice about that one (re: Nitrobike). I'm too lazy to Google it. Someone please think for me. Thx.
ScottG13 @ Oct 6th 2008 10:35AM
Wow, a LOT of games come out on Wii. Bunches. I bet retailers love that.
ExMcCloud @ Oct 6th 2008 10:38AM
No actually we hate it at my store cuz its all shovel ware crap!
ScottG13 @ Oct 6th 2008 10:50AM
Sorry, I forgot my Irony Font. I can't imagine trying to go to a game retailer and pick out a game without first consulting reviews at this point. Its an avalanche of shovelware.
Jack of No Trades 85 @ Oct 6th 2008 10:37AM
I guess im the only one that was amused by Fracture and will rent it.
See unlike alot of you guys, I appreciate and love games.
baby sea tuna @ Oct 6th 2008 10:40AM
Uh, yeah...you got us there.
xFenixKnightx @ Oct 6th 2008 10:43AM
I liked it too. I'm filing it under the [Cool Game For a Weekend] tab so I'll rent it when and if theres a drought wayyyyyyy later on.
If I dont forget =/
Morisato @ Oct 6th 2008 10:45AM
I appreciate and love the feeling of successfully overcoming chronic diarrhea too, but that doesn't mean I want to experience it everyday.
ExMcCloud @ Oct 6th 2008 10:46AM
Fenix there's a tab for that?
Snowblind @ Oct 6th 2008 10:50AM
I thought it was decent enough, but just really generic, it felt like I had played the game before and there was just really nothing compelling about it, I couldn't even finish the demo.
The terrain modifying may have been good if it were more freely used, instead of only being able to use it in specific spots. As it is, it's nothing that couldn't be done using RPG maker.
Deeznuts420 @ Oct 6th 2008 10:54AM
@Morisato: if its chronic, i dont think you have the luxury of a choice :(
Morisato @ Oct 6th 2008 11:01AM
So very true Deeznuts420, but you do have a small smidgen of mental persuasion. No one ever seems to let loose when they're taking a bath. Everyone has at least that bit of self control.
Mr Khan @ Oct 6th 2008 11:33AM
I'm with you in that i just play games for what they are, not for what critics say.
Most of my purchases of new IPs (or IPs i've never tried before) are based on gut instinct and fun factor, a lot like how casuals buy up their games. However, in my case, it's lead to an aversion to cinematic play styles and most Western RPGs, which in turn explains my apathy towards the ensuing Epic Fourth Quarter of 2008 lineup, except for the more "fun-based" Left 4 Dead, Mirror's Edge, and LBP.
Vidikron @ Oct 6th 2008 11:54AM
"The terrain modifying may have been good if it were more freely used, instead of only being able to use it in specific spots."
Yes! Not only are you limited in where you can use it, but they also point out where to use land deforming abilities and which ability to use. I don't need the game to hold my hand the whole time. Let me figure it out on my own. Like you I couldn't even be bother to finish the demo. I actually enjoyed Haze more than this game.
Duke @ Oct 6th 2008 12:28PM
Khan and Jack, why do you assume that everyone here is so far below you in the gaming food chain just because they aren't interested in this game. The demo turned people off, why assume its just critics. I know Khan talks down to everyone for anything they opine, but Jack, I'm kinda surprised by the comment from you.
j.howlett @ Oct 6th 2008 1:05PM
the demo was ok, i really like that it was in third person. nothing to make me want to pay full price and have to play now
Mr Khan @ Oct 6th 2008 3:39PM
I never assumed i was anywhere on the food chain, and i don't care one iota for this game (having never heard of it)
I'm just being me, and certainly not talking down to anyone. Don't put words in my mouth.
Haggard (Mr.ESC resurrected on a... thursday?!) @ Oct 6th 2008 10:46AM
I'd pick up the PC version of BiA:HH, but with FC2 on the way and money tight..
