You know the great thing about writing about WiiWare every week? Often, the comedy writes itself. Let's take a look at the description for
Midnight Bowling (Gameloft, 1-4 players, 800 Wii Points) shall we? "Plunge directly into the trendy and electric atmosphere of
Midnight Bowling. With awesome playing sensations, prepare for ultra-fun gaming thanks to a new physics engine that lets you control your throws precisely and easily with your Wii Remote." Controlling bowling ball throws with the
WiiMote? Let us be the first to say:
Finally. (Comedy bonus: The description also boasts you'll be playing in "the trendiest bowling spots on the planet" which is a little like bragging that you give the world's most pleasurable spinal tap.)
Also, there's
MadStone (Riverman Media, 1-2 players, 800 Wii Points), the true glory of which you can only appreciate with the post-break video.

WTF IS THE POINT OF THAT GAME!?!?
Well Fed Troll @ Oct 6th 2008 11:55AM
Uhh, to bowl maybe??
Maybe im wrong...
Maybe you dual wield pistols and shoot the place up to avenge Roman Bellic's apartment being set on fire while Master Chief was sleeping in it...
Damn you Sonic! and your speedy feet!
That make more sense?

Wii Sports Bowling is basically the only game I still play from time to time on the Wii. I can see a "midnight bowling" take on that being pretty fun. The design on Wii Sports is a little dry for maintaining a good buzz on into ze night, but the bowling mechanics are just so good. If Nintendo released a full version, with a laser beams and disco balls mode, of Wii Bowling, I would buy it in a second. This has to prove itself.

Spinal taps can actually be pleasurable, well, at least the anaesthesia makes it so.
