OK I just want to make this clear: I'm am NOT trolling.

Alright now that that's out of the way, I'm I the only person that doesn't get the hype for this game? I've watched dozens of videos and felt bored. What exactly is the attraction?

I can somewhat understand why people are excited about it - visually, it's a good looking game, and it offers up some of the fun people have been having with apps like Garry's Mod, but on a console.

However, I think that the "magic" of the game will wear off pretty quickly, as I imagine most gamers out there would rather be the one playing levels rather than making them. I also think that once most of the odd gimmicky levels are out of the way, few people will want to spend hours crafting large, intricate maps, and fewer still will have the patience to seek them out among the rest of the content.

Not everyone loves every game, why do that suprise you? Personally I am really excited about this game, even more so after playing the beta.

So for the time being you just have to deal with the rest of us being more excited about this game than you are :)

To be honest, I paid so little attention to this game when it was first announced that I forgot about it until Joystiq braught it up again recently. It looks like a game geared toward girls who like adorable little "sack" doll toys or whatever they are.

The magic wears off for some and for others it doesn't it all depends on what your taste in games is, but why people feel the need to impose thier opinions on others and expect them to agree is beyond me.

Some of what you may like may bore me silly, but I've never found the need to mention how boring they are or why you get hyped about them.

I'm guessing NaeemTHM that you don't own a PS3, so it's unlikely you would get the hype.
I don't understand the hype for the new Massey Ferguson 8690, but then I'm not a farmer.

I'm a ps3 owner and I don't see it either. After looking at trailers and hearing about the beta, I just don't understand the hype. For those that do think this will be a good game, good for them. That just means another game they can add to their library. As for me though, I think I'm gonna pass on this one. The only game looking interesting to me at the moment is FarCry2.

I'm getting a little annoyed at just how many of these really cool costumes are promotional.. Keeping the Kratos/Nariko costumes unique to pre-orders is one thing, but just how many are they going to do?

Am I going to have ANY costumes in the game by default? I still haven't even recieved my Kratos code that the Official Playstation Magazine supposedly had.

Received? It came as a little paper leaflet inside the UK magazine, and you then enter that code into the code redemption screen under transaction management.

Yeah, I also find it ridiculous that stores are handling it differently (i.e. there's no chain-wide policy). Some are handing the codes out when you pre-order, some are apparently handing them out when thegame launches, and some people are claiming there Gamestop told them the codes would be email to them.

I pre-ordered about a week ago and didn't get anything. So I just assumed they would be handed out at launch. But when I started reading this confusion I called today and the guy said they had the vouchers at the store and I needed to go pick one up before they run out. WTF?

The codes are supposed to be given out at time of reservation, and there is a company-wide standard on that, however the tool that give that information is rather new and might not be available to them yet.

Some items are with pickup of the game (i.e. the Mirror's Edge bag) and some are with pre-order (the Fable II pub games and the LBP codes).

Just be sure to ask nice, being a jack-*ss won't get you anywhere with most people (though it might get your food server to spit in your food *ack*)

If you aren't hyped for the game, why ask why others are hyped for it? What you may not like, others will see the good in, thats what makes us different.

I don't like Halo, but you don't see me asking in Halo articles why people are so hyped about it.

No matter how much you deny it, its trolling, fullstop.

Who's starting an argument? It's okay not to like the game, but I never understand the purpose of asking why others like it because you (in general) don't.

That's imposing your opinion no matter how you look at it. Theres no reason to ask the question, just say it doesn't interest you, simple as that.

And is that the most intelligent comment you could come back with? Why not answer my question with a debate worthy answer?

Theres no need to ask why people like a game, they like it because they do, if you think it makes more sense to question why people like something with the idea of getting them to like what you like, that makes you ignorant, plain and simple.

@ NaeemTHM

But you said it makes you bored, that means you don't like it, why would you be bored of something if you did like it? That doesn't makes sense.

And why you couldn't have asked your question without it sounding so negative is beyond me. If you must know why people are interested in it, its because its either where thier tastes lie, or its what you happen to see as boring that they happen to like.

Thats like me asking people why they like chips, and I'd be labelled just the same way because its a stupid question, they like chips because they find it tasty, why else would they like chips? And yeah, LBP isn't chips, but in the ideology of personality preference, its the same way you would think to look at it.

I'm not hyping it, but I happen to find LBP one of the innovations of this gen considering everything else is made up mostly of FPS and 3rdps, I happen to find it charming. If you don't thats your problem, but you instantly annoyed me when you make it sound as if my personal preferences in something are crap and yours are great. You may not have meant it, but thats how your first question comes across, so it's likely I'd fire off my guns at you.

I don't intend to "debate" anything with a kid. Oh and speaking of people making intelligent comments:

"Theres no need to ask why people like a game, they like it because they do, if you think it makes more sense to question why people like something with the idea of getting them to like what you like, that makes you ignorant, plain and simple."

If I'm curious about why a game is good, I'll ask someone why they like it. Asking why someone likes a game is not manipulation in the slightest. Your argument is flawed.

...people used to(the hype has really died down now compared to what it used to be!) do it because before beta came out and resulted in mixed opinions from many gamers(sloppy controls, level editor etc.), you were literally downvoted within seconds should you not say how LBP is super awesome.

Anyway, I'm not sure what kind of a trolling is worse; me making a rant on how the hype is going to ruin this game after getting downvoted because I said that LBP Trophies weren't good or bad - just ordinary, or The Great Defender Duo(El Serpiente and Jack if I recall) cussing every possible insult at me while not bothering to even read the rant?

Red Leader, that reply makes me question you.

You say 'If I'm curious about why a game is good, I'll ask someone why they like it.' Which is the right thing to do.

But forget that this was not done in the first place, NaeemTHM was not curious, if he was curious he would have done what I do when I want to understand what a game is all about, go into the article and ask what the game is all about and what is the hype about. I wouldn't start of saying how boring the game looks and why people even like it.

That's not curiousity, thats just trolling, you throw around the words 'kid' and 'child' without realising where I or even you are coming from, maybe you should start again from the beginning, because right now you sound a bit like a lost sheep bleeting out of desperation.

Jakka, nobody expects you to like it, I certainly don't EXPECT you to like it, and I wouldn't downvote you because you have no interest in it, you have your own opinions on games, and you have just as much right as me to decide what you like and don't like, I'd only downvote you if you made it look as if my opinions and personal preferences in a game were rubbish by saying it looks boring then asking me why I even like it because I wouldn't do that to you, however, if I was genuinly curious about a game you happened to like, I'd ask you 'So I've heard about this game, whats it about? And whats with the hype?'

The game isn't perfect and it won't appeal to everyone, I'm neither hyping it nor saying it will dominate all things gaming, but I am excited about it. The hypers are the fanboys and they hype it because its a way to get a one up on other console owners, which in turn is stupid.

In what sense? I didn't mean to say it was bad or mediocre, just that it changed people's opinion to a different degree. Some (still) absolutely loved it but I also saw plenty of people who disliked jumping mechanic as well as few that decided to rent the game instead judging from the beta experience they had.

I curious, Jakka.... did you watch the video for that calculator level or the video in the link I posted that shows the level where you play a FF song by dragging a block past switches? Even someone as jaded as you about the game would still be impressed. Both are amazing in their own way.

And I was impressed.I never said I was "jaded" about the game either because all I ever said is that hype will fuck this otherwise good dame into the ground...okay maybe a little jaded.

...now I hope the guy behind calculator will put that skill to some use in making actual levels because
a) I'm seriously scared of what he'll think of next.
b) The calculator itself was lame. It's the "behind the scenes" part that made me shit my pants.

Well, yeah, there's not much fun to be had with a simple calculator for the end user, I was just amazed by the accomplishment of creating one with a level editor. It's astounding.

It's stuff like that that gives me hope for what we might see out of the end user content. Even now I'm truly enjoying the beta. It's a lot of fun exploring all the end user levels. Seeing the various ideas and visions people had while creating levels. And the co-op is a blast.

Jakka, while the calculator or the tetris may not have been much, I think where the creativity lies is in the ability to actually make something like that. Minor though it may look, had I been told to make that, I wouldn't know where to start.

The calculator itself may not be a level worth getting sweaty under the armpits for, but its a start :) I think with time, seeing that kind of creativity, I think much more can be done, and at the same time goes to show the level of freedom the game offers. I think playing LBP tetris makes a difference from playing none stop platforming.

Theres nothing better then a vast array of opportunities when creating something, I'm not a limited person, so it annoys me when I'm restricted from doing something that would have otherwise made for a good concept. I expect to see other little nifty creations such as donkey kong levels and such. They may not be mind blowing or perfect, but which game or creation by someone is?

Although, saying that, Unreal tournament's lego and simpson levels were quite amazing :D

1. You're starting the argument

2. He had no mention of an opinion except that he felt 'bored'.. and yes, you can still like a game even if it gets boring..

3. It's possible that he's asking because he wants to know the hype surrounding this game. He's not asking something like "This game sucks.. who the hell would like it?" He's asking "I don't understand the hype surrounding this game.. can someone please explain it to me of what features stand out in this game?" Because you know.. it's possible he doesn't know.

Its a selling point, and a good way to play as characters you like in a calmer less brutal setting. I think Sackboy is good character to have as a mascot as its harmless and kind of game friendly.

The appearance of Kratos on Rachet, Pain or Locoroco would seem odd, but Sackboy not so odd :)
