If you live in NYC and are interested in the Midnight Launch Event I called up Gamestop on 33rd and Broadway and they are hosting the event. I had to pre-order because chances are you won't get a copy.

You know, I had now real problems with the length of the first game.

I saw the campaign mostly as good prep for the online game. I think Gears has a polarization factor much like Halo. I don't like to pay Halo unless it's at a party with friends, yet I have friends to eat/sleep/breathe Halo.

I and a group of Live friends however are still playing Gears at least a few times a week online.

As long as they fixed some of the issue with the online play and added new goodies, I really think this game could nearly be multiplayer only. I do enjoy the campaign, but it really only made up for about 5 percent of my gears usage.

I thought CliffyB said that the cinematics were integrated in the game. This preview makes it sound like its go the same "play, watch, play, watch" sequencing as any other game. Oh well, hopefully they at least improved the story over the first one (hard not to do), or at least kept the video segments really short.

Sounds mighty good! Though I'll agree with the confusion of the masses concerning the relevance of the third sentence. What an odd thing to say.

Here's a direct quote from this article.

"...we got really far in our roughly six hours of play ... but still nowhere near the end."

Use your brain.

Oh, and this comment:
"Well if it's an improved Gears on the same size disc, wouldn't you think it would be shorter?"

Ridiculous.

Am I the only one who read the "little things in the corner telling you when you're about to get an achievement thing" part and was disappointed? Some people may be used to and actually like the intrusive pop up "Achievement Unlocked" icon but I don't. I really hope you can turn it off.

"All told, we got really far in our roughly six hours of play ... but still nowhere near the end."

Sounds to me like they didn't get that far at all. Maybe half?

Good graphics = short campaign

Everyone knows this. I don't see why it's a surprise. Even when the cutscenes aren't prerendered video files, there's only so much they can pack onto the disc without ridiculous loading screens because it's gotta decompress crap to the harddrive.

In any case, Gears campaign is only a part of the Gears experience and it won't be something I play more then 2 or 3 times.
