Did you buy the subscription when it the service was first announced? If not, then you should not have received a beta code.

Live=mandatory for online play
Qore=not mandatory for well...anything.

its an online magazine, a service.
if you want to get technical about stuff you should not have to pay for..
THEMES. i can have all the free themes i want, but thats something you have to pay for.
Online play: sure LIVE is supposedly the end all be all of Online communities, but the PSN is very comparable and more then serviceable
I bought Qore on Day 1 and i have to say, i am not dissapointed in the least. the 1st episode wasnt the greatest but they have progressed nicely.

3 bucks? lucky bastard, you only had to pay 36 dollars a year for live!

phil- yeah xbox live is $ 38 per year when purchased on amazon.com, some of us have learned to save $ 12 a year on the cost, which is approx. 33% less than the $ 5 per month microsoft charges direct.
tmac-
live = worth $ 3 - $ 5 per month
psn = worth $ 0 per month
QORe = not worth a penny... lol j/k
downloading 1 GB of data takes me much longer on the PSN than it does on xbox live. I have even tried downloading the same demos on each console. + the installs add more time.
d-average- since when did sony and nintendo offer free DLC, free themes/pics, free games, extra demos, inside xbox, cheats,tips, community support, as part of their FREE online experiences.??
we get what we pay for with live.

nintendo doesnt offer themes, but sony has all their themes/wallpapers for free. and nobody can sony/nintendo offers game DLC for free... but MS charges for gamer pics AND themes... sadly i was one of the idiots who bought a few themes before. but that was because MS's stupid point system, i had points left, and I didnt have any other game i wanted at the time.

Tmac, LIVE has the better service, but I still wouldn't pay monthly for what I'm accustomed to for free. That said, they streamline and collect it all otgether.
Whereas I'm juggling about 12 different accounts for PC online gaming (my main source of funitude)

You can also go on several websites with your ps3 and download custom themes people made all for free. Some of them are really good.

First of all, I hate that BS of "exclusive" betas and demos for Qore subscribers... I'd never do that because it's like I'm paying for a demo and adverts! Also, Qore should be free, or at least a hell of a lot cheaper. You could buy episodes of Attack of the Show, which is technically the same thing for $1.99, and those are a hell of a lot more entertaining.
I don't understand why this always turns into a flame war.
"Ha ha! You gotta pay for Qore! And I really don't mind paying for Live."
or
"Ha ha! You gotta pay just to play online and Qore is great, I

Continued:
... I love paying for it!"
Can't we all just agree that these things should be free no matter what system you're on and stop pretending we like getting shafted on our console of choice?
Secondly, the free themes argument still applies. I want themes but I will NEVER pay for them. That's retarded. Sony's going to sell them now, and that's lame, but so what?! Their themes always suck anyways. The reason PS3 themes are cool is because people can make their own. They're still free, and there's a huge variety to chose from (not just PS3 or game related).
And finally: "downloading 1 GB of data takes me much longer on the PSN than it does on xbox live. I have even tried downloading the same demos on each console. + the installs add more time."
Sounds like a networking issue. You might have some ports blocked which PSN uses but Live doesn't. My downloads are ultra fast. I downloaded the LBP Beta a couple days ago. It was just shy of a gig and took 2 or 3 minutes to download and install. I downloaded Burnout Paradise before that, which took about 5-10 minutes (I think it was around 4.5GB). I can start watching movies from the store 10 seconds after I start downloading them, and I get no buffering. Another thing to consider is if you're using 802.11, could be interference... plus it's way slower than Ethernet anyways.

lars- i use a wired ethernet connection for my ps3, 360, and pc and i have set up my router to support the gaming ports that had to be open for the ps3, 360, and my pc.
The fact is that PSN is slower than Live for myself ( as i have tried both using the same connection at my home)
do u compare psn and live downloads? or only psn downloads?
u might have a faster connection than i do.
i have road runner standard High speed.

While paying for demos and ads=not cool, I might pick it up for the same reason. That game looks pretty damn sweet.

I dunno if 25 a year is worth it but paying 3 bucks for the episode you want is way better. I've literally JUST found out that Qore comes with exclusive themes on the games they feature, so I don't mind dropping 3 dollars for a Dead Space or FALLOUT 3 theme or something. Hell, I might even buy episode 5 tommorow.

IMO QORE is a complete rip off and waste of time and the information provided on QORE can all be found on the internet for free.
(this is coming from someone who has viewed episope 1 and 2, im not just saying it) i did get those episodes for free though.
save your money and buy a month of xbox live and you will find that QORE type services are FREE on xbox live gold accounts.

and the funny thing is that people say they justify the cost because of the special betas such as resitance and socom..
however WE ALL could have been a part of those betas for FREE either by pre-ordering the game, emailing for a chance, etc.

I've had Qore since day one also but I dunno I remember getting those CD based magazines, not mags with cd's mind you, back in the 90's and they seemed full of a lot more content than Qore and they were loaded with demos and apps and usually you got a full old game every 2nd disc. So to me Qore needs to really step it up, these 3 features plus 3 trailers plus maybe a beta doesn't cut it when in this day and age it should be jam packed full of content.
