TGS 08: Tekken 6 lands on the Xbox 360 in Fall 09 [Update]

Confirming a rumor that was hinted at long ago, Microsoft has just announced that another famed Namco Bandai fighter is hitting the Xbox 360. Landing in Fall 2009, Tekken 6 will find life on the Xbox 360.

Originally revealed exclusively for the PlayStation 3 in 2005, Tekken 6 joins the brawling fray on the Xbox 360 late next year. Released in Japanese arcades on November 26, 2007, Tekken 6 marks the first time the famed fighter will find itself on a Microsoft console. No other details have been announced.

[Update: Tekken 6 on the Xbox 360 will include the Bloodline Rebellion update that recently went live in Japanese arcades which introduces two new characters, Alisa Boskonovich and Lars Alexanderson.]

We will probably see similar news in further iterations of 3rd party MS exclusives. Bioshock 2 & Mass Effect 2 come to mind.

Sorry your wrong... its just Tekken will sell more on the 360.... so why would M$ pay for that :P

This game was the only reason I was going to get a ps3. I might blow it on a wii instead and continue enjoying my big white noisy box.

All I need now is MGS4 on the 360 and I'm pretty set and won't rebuy a PS3. And I'm saying this as a Sony/PS3 fanboy!

Microsoft has got alot of the games that are on the ps3 and more exclusives not to mention the 360 is cheaper.

Trust me when I tell u. MGS4... overrated! Played it, beat it, put it right back where I got it from. Story is too long, they speak soo sloooow. The same back story for all bosses. Cutscenes are ridiculously long. I had high hopes for the game. Play it, you'll see. Anyway, another lost exclusive for Sony. I could see the ps3fanboys going crazy over this.

One way they can compete? (at least for my own personal wants)

It's stated to be released on Playstation 3 2009 spring, Xbox gets it half a year later.

Not to mention Playstation 3 still has games like : Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet, God of War 3, Gran Turismo 5, Resistance 2, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Motorostorm 2 : Pacific Rift and so on.

Games what need little mentioning are : White Knight Story, Naruto Ultimate Ninja, Valkyrie Chornicles, Demon's Souls, Uncharted 2 and games like this.

Also, Sony has confirmed to announce 11 NEW Playstation 3 exclusives on TGS. + 3 NEW games for PSP.

Just because Xbox360 is getting Tekken 6 half a year later doesn't mean much. People who want it will get PS3 version eventually.

I kind of pity sony, although they have an amazing lineup this holiday season, it seems like microsoft is buying up all their old exclusives

people should have seen this coming when VF5 and DMC4 left it's exclusivity chamber. anyway more people that get to play awesome games the better. doesn't look good for the PS3's image tho.

This sucks. I love racing games, but the Forza franchise killed off Gran Turimo for me years ago. I have had a 60Gig PS3 since it's New Zealand launch, and the only games on the system I play a lot are Formula One Championship Edition and Tekken from the PSN. Sony losing Tekken 6 as an exclusive really makes me wonder why I bothered buying my PS3.

Yes MGS4 is great, but I could have rented a console and the game and finished it a day anyway.

Seeing as it's coming first to PS3, I think I'll buy it for that anyway. And if a few of my friends get it once it comes out on Xbox, it might be worth getting it for that just to play with them over the awesomeness known as Xbox Live!

Seriously though, Microsoft must be throwing around some big bucks recently!

sweet.. i havent played tekken in years but ive gotten hooked on fighting games this console cycle.. i might add it to my collection if enough fighters on my friends list pick it up..

Tekken down... just Gran Turismo to go... Still want to get PS3 for bluray tho.

Why? With dedicated blueray players at $250 now, and maybe even as low as $199 when the holiday deals come around, there is no reason to buy a $400 PS3 just for blueray anymore.

yeah, but a Tekken game using an arcade stick? LOLol..ol..lo..l..o...

No real Tekken player would play this using the joysticks that come with either the PS3 or 360... both suck for this type off game... Real Tekken fans would have the proper console stick pad...

If microsoft has all this money to throw at third party developers why dont they just make better game rather than steal sony's? This kind of business is'nt good for the gaming industry. Furthermore this game is already out on the PS3 in arcade form, so it isnt really getting pushed back for the PS3.

it just encourages Sony to pay to keep exclusives OR make better 1st and 2nd party games (which they are doing). more and more the 360 is feeling like this gen's PS2 (console price and nabbing once upon a time PS3 exclusives)

and T6 is a simultaneous release for both PS3 and 360 which means....

You can't call the 360 this gen's ps2. The ps2 started off so many HUGE titles like god of war, kingdom hearts GTA SotC Dark CLoud Sly Cooper Jak and Daxter, and Ratchet and Clank to name only a few. 360 is just taking away those old titles from this gen's consoles, it's only made two bid new games Mass Effect and Gears other than that all the titles are mediocre.

well, i'm sorry. but i certainly can't call the PS3 a successor to the PS2 right now. i see great games on an inexpensive console and i automatically think PS2. sorry.

This is good news for us chevos junkies. I just bought a PS3 last week as a "cheap" blu-ray player and I have to say the 360 is a better gaming experience. Trophies don't have the same allure as chevos. Plus from what I played MGS4 is overrated. The AAA games just aren't on the PS3 they have like 4 good exclusives, none great, maybe it will change when "Little Big nut-sack boy" is released. That looks like it will deliver in spades.
The PS3 - It's a cheap blu-ray player. That's it.

i agree, it just doesn't have that same allure that the PS2 had (which the 360 does ironically). when i saw that Spider-Man font for the PS3, i knew it was in for a rocky road. hopefully they'll show a bit more gumption next year for the PS2 fans.

The PS3 can also no longer really be considered a cheap bluray player. With dedicated players in the $250-$299 range, and probably even lower on holiday specials coming up, there is really no reason to buy the PS3 as just a bluray player anymore.

Awesome. Been missing out on Tekkan and now I'll get to enjoy it on my 360.

3rd party exclusives are retarded. The publishers make more "bank" releasing to multiple platforms, and consumers get to play the game on whichever console they own. Sounds like win-win to me.

Wow, Tekken 6...a game no one has been talking about for how many years? Seriously, you guys are acting like this was a huge console-selling PS3 exclusive, and it wasn't.

Fact: PS3 still has MORE exclusive games. MORE 360 exclusives have gone to PS3 than vice-versa.

I also love how when 360 gets a former PS3 exclusive, 95% of you guys mock the PS3 and say things like "woooo we stole another one!", but when your big games like Bioshock and Lost Planet go to PS3 you are always " hooray, now more people can enjoy this excellent game. That's what it's all about, playing games and having fun."

MS didn't buy anything.

With nearly 22 million worldwide console sales (the PS3 has nearly 16 million), developers would be stupid to ignore those potential customers. Which console has the highest attach rate? The xbox. That third-party exclusive crap is going out the window b/n MS and Sony.
