TGS 2008: No More Heroes 2 debut trailer
"I will be back" is all beam katana-wielding Travis Touchdown can utter in this debut trailer for No More Heroes 2, before he presumably jumps into battle against a woman with six metallic arms beckoning him to fight. Other than its existence and a possible second title (the trailer calls it both NMH2 and NMH:Desperate Struggle), we've got nada on the game or its platform (should it decide to venture away from the Wii). Check out the (currently unembeddable) trailer here.

It says for the Wii on GT. Is Suda involved again?
BPMOmega [gamertag] @ Oct 9th 2008 1:29AM
Just because GT says that doesn't make it so (though, Wii would seem to be the most likely candidate).
And, I wouldn't doubt Suda51 is involved. Since it IS Grasshopper's game, and that's Suda's studio...
ZenGaijin @ Oct 8th 2008 10:48PM
Best use of the Wiimote gets a sequel YES PLEASE!
THEBL4CKPLAGUE @ Oct 8th 2008 10:50PM
not expected at all. very excited though. NMH was great.
Hammer @ Oct 8th 2008 10:50PM
By far my favorite game on the Wii, first party games be damned. I cannot believe they are already working on a sequel! This is the best possible news to come out of TGS. I'm going to bed, wake me up when NMH2 is out.
Hammer @ Oct 8th 2008 10:52PM
And for anyone worried about Suda 51 not being involved, the poster on the building about 20 seconds in has the number "51" in the top corner. He's back.
@tomic @ Oct 8th 2008 10:50PM
This had better have Wii MotionPlus support. Shit would be awesome.
DBuck_Eye @ Oct 8th 2008 10:50PM
EPIC WIN
Van Faulk @ Oct 8th 2008 10:52PM
I just realized something. Wiimotion plus will be out by then......1:1 lightsaber combat a possibility....oh dear god nerdgasm...
ZenGaijin @ Oct 8th 2008 10:54PM
I think I am the only person on the planet that thinks waving the wiimote around like an idiot wouldn't be much fun.
I liked NMH's because it didn't go overboard with the motion controls. Swinging the wiimote every time I wanted to swing a lightsaber would be damn annoying.
I guess what I'm saying is that I hope we get both control options the oldschool one and the wii motion plus one.
BIGFAT @ Oct 8th 2008 11:01PM
yeah i like the fact that in games like wii sports i can just sit on the couch and flick my wrist to simulate that i'm standing up. i also don't realty care for motion control as much as i care for IR.
@tomic @ Oct 8th 2008 11:16PM
"I think I am the only person on the planet that thinks waving the wiimote around like an idiot wouldn't be much fun."
But didn't you have to do that in the last game anyway to recharge your beam sword? Actually less waving it around, and more pumping it up and down in a rather suggestive fashion. I'd imagine that makes you look 10x as idiotic.
ZenGaijin @ Oct 8th 2008 11:25PM
Yes, but that was funny and you weren't constantly doing it. It worked because unlike Twilight Princess you didn't have to swing the wiimote every time you wanted to attack only to finish people off.
It used the wiimote in creative ways rather than just what everyone thought it should do.
From answering your cellphone by placing the wiimote speaker to your ear. To making a jacking off motion to recharge the sabers power.
The game had charm and was inventive with the Wii's controls.
Zachary Hinchliffe @ Oct 8th 2008 10:54PM
I think this will be a DS game.
Desperate Struggle = DS!
enix @ Oct 8th 2008 11:02PM
GAH, beat me to it.
BPMOmega [gamertag] @ Oct 9th 2008 1:32AM
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
Well, this could be a prerendered video. DS can do cel-shading, afterall. So it wouldn't be impossible to pull off NMH's style in a (lower-res, lower-poly) DS title.
DonWii @ Oct 8th 2008 10:55PM
Suda games are niche enough. They certainly aren't going to limit their audience by using WiiMotionPlus.
Kyattsuai @ Oct 8th 2008 11:34PM
Perhaps all those people who get MotionPluses may be keeping their eyes out for more compatible games, and if it's one of the first ones, it could help. On the other hand, I hope they take their time with it to make it as awesome as possible.
Crazylink @ Oct 8th 2008 10:57PM
Have yet to finish the first one, but I still love it. Hoorah!
religiousjedi @ Oct 9th 2008 2:04AM
Same.
Little bro finished it, which basically killed my interest.
Now, I sorta do wanna go back and finish it.
Ethan @ Oct 8th 2008 11:00PM
Is it going to be a bunch of people trying to oust him? Hope it doesn't take itself seriously.
Ranus Studios @ Oct 8th 2008 11:01PM
That is pretty sweet you guys.
Fernando Rocker @ Oct 8th 2008 11:01PM
=p
Marvelous and XSEED are showing a lot of love to Nintendo. This, Little King Story, Arc Rise Fantasia, Muramasa, Valhalla Knights, Rune Factory...
All these quality games coming to USA, thanks to Marvelous and XSEED.
BIGFAT @ Oct 8th 2008 11:03PM
Rune factory is the greasiest harvest moon game ever i loved that game, so addicting.
nofriendo @ Oct 8th 2008 11:04PM
NMH2 vs. HSM3
zelderman @ Oct 8th 2008 11:20PM
whats HSM3?
On Topic: YES YES YES YES YES YES A MILLION TIMES YESS!!!!! Oh god Yes. There is someone who likes me. I couldn't wait for the first game, now I gotta wait for a new one. It will be well worth it.
ThornedVenom (Harley Quinn Defense Force) @ Oct 8th 2008 11:38PM
Homo Sapiens Mania 3?
nofriendo @ Oct 9th 2008 12:21AM
High school musical 3
Ridgecity @ Oct 8th 2008 11:31PM
One of the coolest game on the Wii deserved a sequel.
GearSecond!! (a.k.a AwesomeStuff) @ Oct 8th 2008 11:33PM
Fuck Yea Seaking!
ThornedVenom (Harley Quinn Defense Force) @ Oct 8th 2008 11:39PM
I know that there were some filter effects on the trailer to make it look as if the video was a bit damaged or something, but something also tells me that the video wasn't displaying properly in my browser.
'Tis a shame.
Cesaria (Gamertag: Cesaria360) @ Oct 8th 2008 11:58PM
OMFG YES!!!!! I really hope this stays on Wii!
tmacairjordan87 @ Oct 9th 2008 12:13AM
Why? It would be infinitely better on the better consoles. You would just have to do without the gimmicky motion controls, which isn't a loss at all really.
samfish @ Oct 9th 2008 12:37AM
Hey, look everyone! It's tmac commenting on games he never played again!
The game would NOT be better on other consoles.
(frankly, it's not terribly good as it is)
Abalistar @ Oct 9th 2008 12:01AM
Rock on. One of the verrrry few things in the future of the Wii I can look forward to.
Taco_Hell @ Oct 9th 2008 12:07AM
Oh god, that trailer had too much badassness in it..I need new pants.
tmacairjordan87 @ Oct 9th 2008 12:11AM
They're ruining a golden opportunity both in sales and overall quality of the game if they don't have a 360/ps3 version. This game would sell much better on the real consoles.
Fernando Rocker @ Oct 9th 2008 12:13AM
I didn't know that my Wii was fictional... weird.
tmacairjordan87 @ Oct 9th 2008 12:14AM
It may as well be with the brutal library they pumped out this year.
TwEE @ Oct 9th 2008 12:14AM
Doubt it.
Geist @ Oct 9th 2008 12:58AM
Clearly it sold well enough in the first place. Plus, releasing it on the Wii means they have a much, much larger potential market and much less competition. Your argument is fail.
Vcize @ Oct 9th 2008 11:27AM
Sure, it's technically a larger "potential" market, but realistically it's a smaller market. Sure, there are more Wii's out there than the other two (although when you combine the other two as I'm sure they'd do if they went that route rather than the Wii route, it's pretty close), but the vast majority of those Wii owners couldn't tell you what the heck a "No More Heroes" is even though the first game came out on their console.
I would say that the market for a game like this is actually much larger on the 360/PS3 than the Wii.
jimmygotsmack @ Oct 9th 2008 12:12AM
Freaken sweet
TwEE @ Oct 9th 2008 12:27AM
Theres a lot that needs to be fixed for a sequel.
Either make the over-world/sand box part fun and easy to control or get rid of it.
A little more detail in the main stages wouldn't hurt. Its not fun running down a long hall only to get turned around in a fight and realize you don't know which end of the hall you started from, because it all looks the same..
..
could go for a little more motion control though.
Everything else is great
samfish @ Oct 9th 2008 12:45AM
I'm glad to see this is getting a sequel, but there is a LOT of room for improvement over the original.
Mainly, get rid of the awful open world portion and overhaul the combat, which was possibly some of the most boring, repetitive gameplay I've ever experienced.
BPMOmega [gamertag] @ Oct 9th 2008 1:38AM
I personally liked the combat. Sure, it was a bit repetitive, but it was fun.
I do agree about changing the overworld. It was a huge pain to have to go back to K-Entertainment or the Job Center every time you wanted to redo an assassination gig/part-time job... Travis has a cellphone, right? Why not allow him to use that to call K-Entertainment/Job Center to redo gigs/jobs?
Hell, they could get rid of it entirely. Afterall, isn't part of NMH a bit of a tribute to classic gaming (the 8-bit interface and whatnot)... They could replace Santa Destroy (or wherever NMH:DS may take place) with a level select menu.
Or, maybe give more to do in Santa Destroy. Make it so you can talk to the mindless NPCs wandering around. I know Santa Destroy is meant to be a desolate town... but it's so big and you can't tell me there's more to do there than what you already do?
CJLopez @ Oct 9th 2008 2:01AM
Did ya tried different thing??
I had heard this from many people who just keept smashing A button
Always try to combine up and down, also A and B, i came to make pretty wacky moves hitting up down, sword hit and when it came to, wrestle moves as finishing moves
Mr Khan @ Oct 9th 2008 8:42AM
I agree with CJ, if you tried to vary up the combat, it could be quite fun
The problem is there was no material incentive to vary up the combat. Wrestling moves gave you nothing, but made the combat take longer, stance shifts really didn't do anything. Something as simple as giving us a reason for using Wrestling (aside from the Wrestling-only missions)
