White Knight Story gets four-player online co-op
While we await official confirmation of a rumored Dec. 25 release date for Sony and Level-5's top-tier console RPG, White Knight Story, Japan's Dengeki PlayStation reports that the game will feature online co-op for up to four players. As detailed in the magazine's latest issue, the online component will employ a lobby system for match-making, with each room maxing out at 16 players.
Up to four players can then form an adventuring party and tackle quests with the aid of in-game chat. Whether these are online-specific quests – or if the chat is voice-based – is unclear; hopefully we'll get some answers when Tokyo Game Show gets underway tomorrow (late tonight for us in the States).

Mike @ Oct 8th 2008 4:40PM
Take it easy bro. I was just kidding. BTW, I have a PSWii60. No room to be a fanboy.
Mike @ Oct 8th 2008 4:41PM
Oh, I forgot to mention that I have Too Human. pwned.
Titanium_Orchid @ Oct 8th 2008 4:41PM
he's talking about the fact that Too Human was originally supposed to support more than two players in co-op
Mr. Nom Nom the Troll @ Oct 8th 2008 4:43PM
We get fanboy alerts now? (!!!)
How come we trolls didnt get this in our email?
For shame...
Mr. Nom Nom the Troll @ Oct 8th 2008 4:48PM

mike- honestly i thought that was another one of those too human comments from someone who read the reviews only and did not play the game.
i was getting tired of the same old too human comments from people that havent played the game.
nom tom troll- i personally enjoyed the gameplay of the game, the story wasnt the reason i played the game. i havent played many action games such as too human, so i was not very judgemental over the entire genre.
jonbo298 @ Oct 8th 2008 4:33PM
Online only co-op or will it have both local co-op and online co-op (ala Halo 3). Too many games nowadays focus on online only co-op 1 per console (ala Duke Nukem 3D on XBLA)
Dirty @ Oct 8th 2008 4:34PM
Thats all they needed to say... Im officially interested.
Maybe they can do it at launch, and without the help of post launch patch that you should look past when reviewing it.
Titanium_Orchid @ Oct 8th 2008 4:39PM
Agreed, this feature officially put the game on my radar...
well, this feature and the walrus riding mechanic.
Duke @ Oct 8th 2008 4:48PM
Im with you guys. That feature made this game look a lot more interesting to me. I am very curious how the co-op will work and if its outside of the single player story.
sk8monroe81 @ Oct 8th 2008 4:40PM
wow online co-op on an RPG game..
that sounds very interesting and fun.
this probably doesnt include split screen though...
but this is cool.
Mike @ Oct 8th 2008 5:17PM
RPG fanboy alert!!! J/K
sk8monroe81 @ Oct 8th 2008 7:06PM
better believe it...
i did not like them much before, but after playing so many 8 hour shooters and the same games over and over i have greatly taken to the RPG's...
Mike @ Oct 9th 2008 12:48PM
I'm actually right there with you as long as it's an action RPG. I can't stand JRPGs anymore. Can't wait for Fallout 3!!!
Mr. Nom Nom the Troll @ Oct 8th 2008 4:40PM

Dan CiTi @ Oct 8th 2008 5:12PM
How much better can this game get?
Vcize @ Oct 8th 2008 5:19PM
Wait, what the hell do you mean whether or not it has voice chat is unclear?
What is this, the Wii?
Leobebes (BDF: Braid Defence Force) @ Oct 8th 2008 5:38PM
Is this where all gamers come to feign interest over another JRPG?
Ok here it goes!
Yes! Another Role Playing Game with an amazing story and now with four player co-op! Ok Gorgon344 its your turn to strike! Now Chickhunter3321 your turn!
Mr. Nom Nom the Troll @ Oct 8th 2008 6:12PM
Rofl!
j.howlett @ Oct 8th 2008 5:46PM
if they thought that would get me interested, too late. i've had my eye on this for a long time now. i think around the ps3 launch.
tmacairjordan87 @ Oct 8th 2008 7:34PM
I'm getting a little tired of every single game having some kind of multiplayer to appease the brainless ADD halo masses. Games like metal gear and JRPGs should not have any kind of multiplayer, just focus on making a decent single player.
Leobebes (BDF: Braid Defence Force) @ Oct 8th 2008 8:30PM
Broad strokes?
j.howlett @ Oct 8th 2008 8:43PM
thats why sony cancelled some games awhile back though, to focus on online gaming. mgo just didn't spring up there was a version on ps2 and white knight could be fun if certain friends get the game. you can't blame game makers for putting stuff when they get knocked for not having a way to interact with people online.
DrunkRaba @ Oct 8th 2008 8:03PM
Already was going to get this game, coop on an RPG? I'll try it but I can't say I am excited for it.
Overgauss @ Oct 9th 2008 2:44AM
Do you guys not have GF's to play with, err play coop with? Between this WH and a few other future titles a second PS3 is justified in my mind. I mean why buy side crap when I can accidentally another PS3 with my GF at the same time?
Kevin949 @ Oct 9th 2008 3:42AM
Many RPG's have been co-op in the past. Secret of Mana, Final Fantasy 3, most of the "Tales" games to the best of my recollection. My curiosity is piqued when they said "go on quests together". Is this online experience going to be similar to Monster Hunter? Sans the item collecting. Or is it going to be more like Secret of Mana online, where everyone is arguing who HAS to play the girl character. Either way, I'm interested. But I know no one with a PS3 that will get this game, so hopefully local multiplayer is in the works.
Overgauss @ Oct 28th 2008 11:39PM
I expect many people with a PS3 will get this game. If it helps my PSN id is ONIGAUSS. Even though I don't know you irl I hope to see you online sometime.
