Fallout 3 goes gold, PC requirements detailed
Good day, Vault inhabitants. We're happy to report that Fallout 3 has gone gold for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. For those of you currently not stealing the game -- yup, it's up on torrent sites according to many tips, which can stop being sent now, thank you -- the actual release will be the week of Oct. 28.
Console owners can obviously just pop in the disc (PS3 has no install, we asked), but we've placed the PC system requirements after the break.

Seem low enough.
kojo87 @ Oct 9th 2008 8:54PM
i wish they would give us a clock speed for the recommended processor. whats the AMD equivalent?
Doug @ Oct 10th 2008 9:13PM
Probably around 2.2 for single core. AMD is more powerful.
ZaxCG2 @ Oct 10th 2008 10:31AM
@kojo. Seriously, give us AMD'rs some love.
My Nvidia GeForce 7800 seems to serve me well, but I'm unsure that my AMD 3200+ will hold out.
Mr Khan @ Oct 9th 2008 6:05PM
And i thought frontpage pics couldn't get any more disconcerting than that Sakura one yesterday
Yikes.
aMac @ Oct 9th 2008 6:08PM
It has gone gold, and the Xbox version has already been leaked.
Things move pretty fast on the internet.
Alan @ Oct 9th 2008 6:24PM
Indeed. ;o)
Replica23 @ Oct 9th 2008 6:35PM
Anyone else find it ironic with all the whining going on about PC piracy by developers that an Xbox 360 game gets leaked to the Internet?
Superstar90 @ Oct 9th 2008 6:33PM
88 MPH to be exact.
aMac @ Oct 9th 2008 6:37PM
Great SCOTT
j.howlett @ Oct 9th 2008 8:04PM
thats heavy
Eggy @ Oct 9th 2008 6:11PM
Saw some gameplay footage, can't say I was impressed. I hope it was from the console version because I expect more fluid aiming and movement from the PC.
RobLink (Alex Kidd incarnate) @ Oct 9th 2008 6:24PM
Keep in mind that it's not meant to be an FPS.
Ihavepants @ Oct 9th 2008 6:37PM
Then why did they make it in First Person?
Haggard (Mr.ESC resurrected on a... thursday?!) @ Oct 9th 2008 6:40PM
To make it more attractive to the mainstream. Don't worry, I've heard nothing but praise for it so far.
Snowblind @ Oct 9th 2008 6:44PM
This is by the Elder Scrolls guys. You were expecting good, fluid animation?
Seriously, there were guys in my animation class at college that could do better work than Bethesda, for the life of me, I can't understand why they haven't hired new animators yet.
Aside from that though, the game looks great.
#28 @ Oct 9th 2008 7:22PM
It's not by the elder scrolls guys. They only made Oblivion.
Ihavepants @ Oct 9th 2008 8:23PM
Replying to #28.
What? Do you even know what you're talking about.
t_m @ Oct 9th 2008 10:39PM
@ihavepants:
Are you being sarky?
I wonder if i should mention all the First Person RPGs, First Person Adventure games, First Person Racing games, etc.. nah.
Ihavepants @ Oct 9th 2008 11:09PM
Well actually yeh, I wasn't being serious.
Kind of dissapointed how much I was hated on for it.
fischju @ Oct 10th 2008 1:00AM
How could you not love Oblivion + Stalker?
Top Cat @ Oct 25th 2008 8:54PM
Bethesda are part of the cream of gaming developers (ah Bullfrog, how I miss you) and we should all be supporting their excellent work.
ExMcCloud @ Oct 9th 2008 6:12PM
Damn people stealing it already? damn that sux.....And that Front page pic is just creepy...seriously
Metal Geario 360 @ Oct 9th 2008 6:13PM
Must .....get.... Fallout...shirt.
Sam @ Oct 9th 2008 7:26PM
Been playing it for the last 10 hours, and damn it's awesome.
NeoK-182 @ Oct 9th 2008 6:23PM
those are very generous system specs. i would of thought they'd be higher.
either way my rig can run crysis so i'm good lol
syrik zero @ Oct 9th 2008 6:24PM
I need a new mobo and processor
SecretAgentHam @ Oct 9th 2008 6:29PM
i just need a better video card...3gb ram...2.8 processor (dual core) i really just need a new graphics card... hmm. (opens a tab to newegg.com)
Foetoid @ Oct 9th 2008 7:45PM
ATI HD4850 or ATI HD4870. Best value power-for-your-dollar graphics cards and worth every cent. HD4850 is cheap, can run Crysis very smoothly on all settings High, some Very High.
Doug @ Oct 9th 2008 9:56PM
Same here. I have 512 but it's pretty weak :O. 3gbs. 3.0 Dual Core.
Eh @ Oct 9th 2008 8:06PM
The best value is a recertified 9800gtx for $129. Even with the 4850, much cheaper.
SecretAgentHam @ Oct 9th 2008 9:52PM
thank you both, i've looked into it and i believe im still going to go with an 8800. its a little more expensive but its going to do what i need it to. its all i ask. i dont game on my pc rig much, but i do like to every now and then. keeps my options open...
also im lazy and when im on my computer it sucks to get up and turn everything on to game on a console. lol
THANKS AGAIN!
Malascythe @ Oct 9th 2008 6:32PM
sounds good.
mismajor99 @ Oct 9th 2008 6:32PM
wow, that's nothing. It's really starting to show that game just aren't pushing graphics any more, at least Multiplats that is.
Ralod @ Oct 9th 2008 7:00PM
I think it shows more that Fallout 3 is a glorified oblivion mod. Do the system reqs look familiar? They should they are the same ones Oblivion had 3 years ago. Same choppy animation, same horrid voicework.
It is not a case of devs "toning" down PC games. It is a case of a lazy ass studio releasing the same game 3 years later with guns.
aj @ Oct 9th 2008 7:49PM
I think PC games aren't "pushing graphics" much these days because the devs are starting to realize that upgrading your computer every 6 months is expensive. So why not try to reach more consumers by releasing games that some people might be able to run?
BigD145 @ Oct 9th 2008 9:47PM
Graphics? Graphics are overrated. Once you spend all your time getting to ultra-realism, you'll have an empty shell of a story that takes all of 30 minutes to watch. I hope you like staring at pores for 4 hours. Contrary to your belief, it's less interesting than watching paint dry.
Slayer @ Oct 9th 2008 6:34PM
Not bad. Not bad at all.
Kevin @ Oct 9th 2008 6:35PM
Hooray for finally meeting the recommended specs on release of a game for the first time in 10 years!
Leaked version is for 360, not that I'd download it even if it was the PC version...
Ihavepants @ Oct 9th 2008 6:41PM
I would, purely because I'd get to play it before the release date. I'd still buy it when it came out though but I really don't see the point in waiting.
Soap GurL @ Oct 9th 2008 6:44PM
not impressed. these kinds of role playing games bore me.
Ihavepants @ Oct 9th 2008 6:54PM
I havn't seen a positive comment about anything from you yet.
Do you like games at all?
ExMcCloud @ Oct 9th 2008 7:11PM
Then why did you click this link?
Sesur @ Oct 9th 2008 8:52PM
feel free to never ever play it then.
AtomicPlayboy @ Oct 9th 2008 7:14PM
Given the fact that a relatively small percentage of XBox 360 owners (modded boxes) will have the ability to play this pirated copy, whereas anybody with a PC can play a cracked copy, I don't think this undermines the claim that PC piracy is hurting the industry tremendously.
ExMcCloud @ Oct 9th 2008 7:26PM
Yeah I probably agree with atomic thats gonna have absolutely no effect on xbox sales....But dont worry the PC version will be on Mininova tommorow.
AtomicPlayboy @ Oct 9th 2008 8:14PM
If it is, I'm totally pirating it. I've paid my pre-order in full, and I very much will reward Bethesda with my $50 for making my most anticipated game of the decade, but if I can start playing it before 10/28, I going to.
Hey, publishers, are you listening? If you give me a digital download right when the gold master is pressed, you get my money a few weeks earlier, and you get to keep all that money you would have to spend on putting it in a box on the GameStop shelf.

What's Chuck Norris doing in one of the screenshots?

Its looking good anyways.

Alexander providing Pipboy puppet entertainment for in-game 10 year old's party = win. (Or is that the Valtech's equivalent of the court-room Where-Did-He-Touch-You doll? That'd be full of win, too)
