You can hope for it all you want. Won't happen. If anything, it will be MORE expensive than the GHII/III tracks.

Whoa Blind Mellon...

It's getting harder and harder to root for Rock Band

You mean to tell me that you like Blind Melon (or at least "No Rain") so much that you'd be willing to go buy GHWT just for that one song?

Comparred to the 250+ songs released as DLC for Rock Band in the last year?

One song? Really?

Not really, since Blind Melon was a one-hit wonder, and that "one-hit" sucked. Now put on your bee costume and run along.

I have to whole-heartedly agree. Blind Melon was far from a one-hit-wonder. That one song was quite different than the rest of the album and far different than the rest of their future songs. You'll be doing yourself a huge favor to listen to the whole CD, then move on to the other CDs, and then sadly discover you've been missing out on these amazing songs all these years. But it's not too late! They are back with an amazing singer and no one who has been to a show - die hard fan or hard core skeptic - has been disappointed.

in my book it will take a whole lot for this game to surpass what the rock band franchise has become... wont stop me from buying this strictly for the hendrix tracks! cant wait for this to hit shelves!... hopefully we get a better guitar design with this one... my orange button on the les paul is already acting funny.

"All of the packed tunes will be available separately..."

Oh thank GOD. I was getting worried that Activision hadn't learned a thing from RB when it came to the popularity of ala carte DLC.

Pricing information will be handy, and I want to demo it first... (I saw a kiosk at a local Best Buy, but it wasn't working)

And yes, this isn't "the same as playing RB" due to the different guitar dynamics, as well as the potential "Guitar Hero Difficulty Curve".

I definately prefer the Rock Band series to what Guitar Hero has become. But the fact is, while the game itself isn't as good, Red Octane still knows what they're doing when it comes to the controllers. Whenever I play guitar on Rock Band, I always use the GH3 controller. And I'll bet that GH:WT's drums will be better than Rock Bands. So it's the full set for me.

I agree, he has neither RB or GH:WT (duh) so I think the best course is buying GH:WT with the full set, then buying the RB2 disc, and renting/borrowing the RB1 disc :D

I'll probably do the same, pretty glad I waited :D

you must not have used the rb2 strat yet then. It's the best controller to date from either franchise. The auto calibration feature is biggest innovation to either franchise since hopo's started working.

and there's plenty of early reports out there of the GHWT drums being flimsy with frequently broken cymbals. You'd also think they would have learned something from harmonix going with an all plastic bass pedal..

Adding onto that, the drum set up they had at PAX a while back were reported to keep breaking as well.

But eh, I don't really care for either. I barely play the drums anyway so I can't input on which is better.

Oh, yes, I have played the RB2 Strat, It has minor improvements (strum bar feels better), but it's still the (2nd, 1st is the RB1 Strat) worst guitar I've played on, I can beat 75% of the songs on expert in GH3 but fail out way too often in RB... that guitar is awful...

Too bad it's the best looking one out there. And I'll believe the drums breaking rumor when the game actually comes out. Trade shows don't count if you know what I mean.

Yeah, I agree completely. The Rock Band guitar looked great, but plays terribly. And I doubt the Red Octane drums will be worse than Harmonix. Especially since I just broke my drum pedal last night :P

"Activision will be heaping a dizzying amount new downloadable tracks on consumers in the game's first week of release."

Holy shit. 7 songs? That is a DIZZYING amount of content. They are PULLING OUT ALL THE STOPS for a Guitar Hero LAUNCH EXTRAVAGANZA. I'm surprised I can still stand on my own TWO FEET after seeing this.

7 songs? That's like, almost a regular week of Rock Band DLC.

When Rock Band came out, around 15 tracks (some in packs, some as singles) came out on the day. Clearly, Activision haven't even tried, or the music industry is ditching them in favour of Rock Band.

Personally, i think it's both.

I think that's really abusing the DLC model. If you have a ton of DLC ready to go on launch it should just be in the game. Were already gonna be paying $180 bucks, and then they want us to pay how much more for extra tracks lying around at launch. I can understand having more and more tracks later to supplement, but goddamn this pisses me off.

You realize that RB also released DLC on the same week as RB2, right? Not to mention the hundreds of tracks already sitting out there as DLC that were compatible with RB2, on the day it launched, but still cost money...

I'm sticking with Rock Band. I've got to much invested. I hope Activision puts together a good product. Competition and all. They really need to do weekly DLC. That's the standard set by Harmonix. Or... even beat it.

No group in the world bitches more than gamers.

I'm muchly looking forward to World Tour. My guess is the DLC will be priced the same as Rock Band. They won't price it above because then people will say they're getting ripped off (actually they'll do that no matter what) and they won't price it below because, well, they want more money. So the logical answer is equal to RB.

Death Magnetic was $18 for 10 songs, and you can not purchase tracks individually. The album is also playable in GH:WT.

Screaming for Vengeance was released for RB, with 10 songs for $15. You could also purchase any song individually for $2.

They're already more expensive, with fewer options, even when it was just guitar tracks. It's silly to assume that they will change that trend now.

GH3 DLC has been a rip off from the start. To think that Activision would lower the price or even keep it on the same level as GH3 is funny. Now with the extra hard work adding vocals and drums, they will jack up the price. I still prefer the GH3 guitar though.

ACDC is a band that rarely gives their songs rights away...if you dont like ACDC, then dont buy the tracks...
I am not a huge ACDC fan, but i do enjoy playing and hearing their hits...As far as i can tell, this is a band that will make a lot of people say "Wow...GHWT doesn't have ACDC? thats harsh...i'm going with rock band."

imo, thats why they are charging $40 for the pack...

Oh and by the way...how many songs does guitar hero have available for DLC anyways? 68ish? compared to rockbands over 500 tracks by 2009?

Guitar hero's DLC cant even COMPETE with rock bands.

And yes...gamers do complain...a lot

Actually, I'm excited. Those are really good tracks from one of their best albums in a while, IMO anyway. Still, they are perfect and be really fun to play in WT (hopefully also Rock Band in the future). Though, I wish Living Well is the Best Revenge was one of the tracks.

Anyway, it's DLC, the more variety the better.

I actually think its a pretty horrible lineup.

What did we get last year for Rock Band's launch week? Classic Metallica? Queens of the Stonage? The Police? On top of that we had 6 singles.

Guitar Hero's DLC is ALREADY looking bad, and it hasn't even come out yet...

I'll pick up the game, not sure whether I'd do any DLC. I would have to have some reassurance that any DLC I buy for GH:WT would be playable in GH:WT2 and later games.

My dream would be for cross-compatibility for all DLC between games, but I know that's a pipe dream.

Whats the fucking point of that?!?!

Do Microsoft really think that we'd have such an urgent need to play R.E.M that we'd trade in all our PS3 shit to get an Xbox instead of waiting 2 weeks.

What a waste of everyones time.
