LittleBigPlanet beta levels will be transferred to final game
People's opinions in polls be darned, Media Molecule co-founder Alex Evans has apparently confirmed to 1UP that the user-created levels from the LittleBigPlanet beta will be transferred to the final game. Evans tells the site that they'll continue running the poll on the Official PlayStation Forums to gauge people's reactions to the news, but it appears this is now a done deal.
The LBP beta ends this Sunday, the game will be out beginning the week of October 21st.

Who's a cute sack boy? You're a cute sack boy! Yes you are! Yes you are!
By the way, I had my Rock Band mic plugged in while playing LBP, and the TV was on pretty loud in the other room. It was HILARIOUS to see sack boy mouthing the words to the TV show going on in the background! I think I might have sack boy lip-syncing webcasts from now on. I highly recommend it.

Why does it matter if they are included with the final game or not? They'd be available to play from the online portion of the game from day one.
Vcize @ Oct 9th 2008 3:13PM
They don't mean literally on the game disc, but rather that the levels made during the beta will be available online when the full game launches, and not wiped clean like most betas are.
pat1202003 @ Oct 9th 2008 3:04PM
YAY! They are going to keep them!
baby sea tuna @ Oct 9th 2008 3:06PM
Great, but does any of the shit I picked up in the beta (objects, stickers, etc.) transfer over? Or do I have to go through all of those tutorials again?
Neuromancer @ Oct 9th 2008 3:10PM
I think you're going to have to do that all over again, the only thing carrying over are shared levels (not game saves).
baby sea tuna @ Oct 9th 2008 3:14PM
:(
Tez (PSN: Tezasaurus) @ Oct 9th 2008 3:17PM
Since the online levels are staying, just load up a level with all the objects you've gotten so far and want to keep, then Publish it. After the game is released, copy that level over to your Moon and then un-Publish it.
Popfrogs @ Oct 9th 2008 6:16PM
You have to do it all over. Once the beta is gone so is your game data, progress, etc.
Jack of No Trades 85 @ Oct 9th 2008 3:07PM
Last night when I was in the beta it was very buggy with lots of slowdown. Did anybody else have trouble?
Neuromancer @ Oct 9th 2008 3:10PM
Yeah it was horrendous last night, I think because a whole bunch of people got beta codes from USA Today (including my own good self).
baby sea tuna @ Oct 9th 2008 3:15PM
It took me about 3 hours to d/l the beta and my PSN connection kept going in and out...but it was all worth it. Boy, was it worth it.
nightmare452 @ Oct 9th 2008 3:10PM
I'm hoping they at least filter out some of the bad levels, but this is great news anyway you see it. There are already some masterpieces in LBP I dont wanna lose.
Tez (PSN: Tezasaurus) @ Oct 9th 2008 3:19PM
Once more people are playing, the bad levels should filter themselves.
Bluebrake @ Oct 9th 2008 5:15PM
Is there a way to score a level besides hearting it/not hearting it and choosing one of those vague preselected keywords? When searching for levels, can you sort by quality somehow? I don't really get how this works. (Why isn't there just a 5-star rating system?)
SecretAgentHam @ Oct 9th 2008 3:12PM
great news
koehler83 @ Oct 9th 2008 3:20PM
I already have my publication space in the beta taken up and will likely be overwriting it all shortly after launch anyway. However there's a lot of really great stuff in there that would likely never be duplicated so its definitely a good thing. Crap is going to end up in there whether its from the beta or not. If they want they can wipe stuff from PSN accounts that don't sign back in in a set amount of time.
Jakka @ Oct 9th 2008 3:27PM
Is it just me or did betas stop being what they used to be? I'm all for having a clean bug-free game but recently this whole bullshit(Code Giveaways,People offering their own PSN Accounts,Selling codes on Ebay)has become more of a PR Show than an actual benchmark utility.

Its a good way to get press, let gamers get the word out and experience it.... while fixing your bugs.
I see no problem with it.
BananaBoat @ Oct 9th 2008 4:08PM
Believe me...this was a Beta in every sense of the word. I crashed LBP about 20 times in the first two or three days of playing. On top of that, the online element crashed a few times, and has been fairly buggy for some people from the word go.
I hope all of those bugs are squashed for the final retail version. At the very least, the Beta was a great head start for the people that will creating the excellent levels (I suggest the Wipeout level. It's brilliant) come launch day.
Jakka @ Oct 9th 2008 4:09PM
Neither do I really...just annoys me because a proper term for it would be "release candidate" - gimped version of full finished Game such as Halo 3 "Beta"
Nick the Hero of Canton @ Oct 9th 2008 3:28PM
How much space are you given for uploads?
Popfrogs @ Oct 9th 2008 6:16PM
Uploads? There aren't really uploads per se. You have a "moon" to yourself where you can copy other people's levels, play them and edit them, and it belongs to you. I'm not sure just how many levels you can host there at any given time. I'm guessing around 36 or so.
j.howlett @ Oct 9th 2008 3:38PM
glad to hear it. maybe i'll have something worth playing thats not completely on fire and electrified.
chispito @ Oct 9th 2008 4:25PM
I see nothing wrong with this. Within a week it won't matter, since the beta content will be such a small portion of the overall content available.
