TGS 08: Capcom announces US-bound Monster Hunter Freedom Unite

While Freedom Unite isn't physically at the show, Capcom has another Monster Hunter title at TGS. That would be Monster Hunter 3 (Tri) for the Wii and it has been drawing huge crowds leaving people with hour long waits ... and it's only the first day. An "industry only" day. Just wait until the public comes in on the weekend. We wonder if the success that was founded in Japan will follow across the Pacific? Monster Hunter Freedom games haven't exactly been picked up by Western gamers in the past.

Suck PSP, the Wii stole your best franchise.
PS. I know it was borrowed, not stolen.

Dammit, I meant: suck it psp.
Disclaimer: sucking the psp voids the warrenty.

More like the Wii stole it from the PS3. It was originally announced for the PS3 but left completely to go to the Wii.
Not like the PSP lost anything, you want MH on the go, PSP right now is the only choice and why its sold so great in Japan.

I really think this series belongs on the psp especially with the ad-hoc co-op. Now, if you think tri is staying on the Wii and Wii only then you may be a little delusional. MHF2 has too much success not to have a sequel.
Aside from that this is bad news for me considering I just bought 2 copies of MHF2. Well spring is a ways off :p

To my knowledge, MH isn't on the DS correct? Its helped the PSP sell crazy in Japan, god knows if it ever comes out for the DS in Japan. I guess that's why Capcom hasn't done it yet. Some law of physics would surely be broken.

No its not, had the DS be more powerful, no doubt it would be.

Let's just hope Monster Hunter Unite has online... Can't wait to see some more footage of Monster Hunter Tri! ZOMG!

I am very much in love with MHF2. The only problem is that I don't have any friends with a PSP, or with a PSP and a copy of MHF2. And it's a shame.

Japanese trains are going to collapse under the weight of DSes if this ever gets released on the DS.
It was bad enough being surrounded by 50 DSes before, and then by 30 PSPs on top when Monster Hunter got released.
Maverick Saturn @ Oct 9th 2008 7:58AM
First thing to get me excited at TGS all day, I've been waiting years for this! >:(
*Turns head* Nope, you kept me waiting MH2G, don't come kissing my toes now...
Cow Cow @ Oct 9th 2008 10:43AM
Cant rule out the DS just yet. IF Phantasy Star Zero can have 3d roaming and 4 player online wi-fi co-op play, then certainly Capcom can get off their asses and created a Monster Hunter DS game. Yeah it wont look as pretty as the PSP or console versions, but it'd still be possible
SecretAgentHam @ Oct 9th 2008 12:49PM
disbelief... its coming state side...

I wonder if it will open my Japanese 2G saves
D @ Oct 11th 2008 9:21PM
On the Wii? blech. Why not just make it PS2 if you want to make it so last gen?
I want a real next gen MH game!! Not one where I mindlessly swing my wii mote.
I can't wait till Nintendo makes a real system.
