TGS 08: Japanese Home beta on track, 21 new contributors

Sony also announced that twenty one new publishers have signed up to create content for the service. It's a pretty exhaustive list of contributors, despite the lack of Square Enix. There's no indication as to whether those on the list will also be creating content for the US and Europe. Hopefully we'll hear more of that before the Western release of the service, which should hit around the same time as Japan. The full list of new contributors for Home in Japan is after the break.

hm whats going on with sony and square?
Jtenma @ Oct 9th 2008 5:51AM
Your guess is as good as mine...
But I think Square-Enix is hinting ever-so-nicely to Sony that they want a break up. In a company sense, they want Sony to pull their stocks out of SE so SE can fully support MS.
That's just what it seems like...
Hashbrown Hunter @ Oct 9th 2008 8:23AM
Then why is FF Versus XIII still PS3-exclusive?
It is a mystery indeed.
Vegeta (aka Ska Oreo) @ Oct 9th 2008 8:28AM
But then you need to ask yourself, why is Squenix more interested in putting out titles other than Final Fantasy on other consoles rather than on a sony console?
SKI @ Oct 9th 2008 8:34AM
SE might just be waiting to show that Versus is multi-platform title. I believe Sony is at fault, either 1) bad sales of the PS3 is forcing SE to the 360 or 2) Sony demanded a FF7 remake (thanks to #1) and SE doesn't like being bossed around. So they said "screw you" and now everything is headed closer to FFXIV exclusivity on the 360 successor.

@ SKI
That's just plain stupid.
Noshino @ Oct 9th 2008 9:40AM
Actually, the SE managment support for Sony was always weak, hell, if it wasn't for certain people that are Sony supporters (Nomura being one of the biggest ones) they wouldn't give a damn.
Esat Dedezade @ Oct 9th 2008 7:06AM
Maybe Sony keeps drinking the milk outta the carton and SE just can't take it anymore.
Maverick Saturn @ Oct 9th 2008 8:08AM
I think Square is trying to form independance, and like Jtenma said, trying not to seem biased at the same time trying to form alliances with Microsoft. It's all rather suspicious.
I think Square is having an affair! Sony, don't have it! Sqaure is getting in bed with another company after your wedding with FF7 and honeymoon with FF8. Talk about uncommited, lol
Hashbrown Hunter @ Oct 9th 2008 8:24AM
Yeah I think this is just more Square-Enix expanding their appeal, and from a business perspective it makes total sense. Especially compared to the Sony exclusivity plan from previous gens.
Maverick Saturn @ Oct 9th 2008 9:51AM
Well seeing as everyone else is going multiplat, they are just trying to do what they can to follow, they never gave Micro much backing in the past, so I'm guessing this is there chance to now.
No doubt they will eventually do some stuff for homne, but Square in particular seems skeptical of it, I think they will stand back for the time being and join the party later if it starts getting good.

i couldnt see them completely jumping ship from Sony to MS in terms of exclusivity but i could see them dropping Sony preference first and just making everything multiplatform like everyone else is doing these days. these games cost too much money and take too long to make for them to keep them on one platform in this day and age.
im completely ok with multiplatform SE titles (mainly Final Fantasy) but MS exclusives would be a slap in the face...but the boost in Japan that MS is looking for.
Mr. Nom Nom the Troll @ Oct 9th 2008 8:32AM
Square is bi sexual like Sephiroth, better yet Seymour (FF 10) & scared to tell Sony they are curious as to find out what is underneath Bill Gates' skirt.
Mr. NomNom the Troll @ Oct 9th 2008 8:41AM
Ok that was bad....
Think i'll save you guys the trouble and start voting myself down.
:)
JoeTheBlow @ Oct 9th 2008 10:37AM
Meh, who cares about Square.
Thats a pretty impressive list, just what the hell are they gonna do?
Game rooms? Minigames in the arcade? Or do you make the list because you buy an advert or poster in the world?
I await more details!
Eh @ Oct 9th 2008 12:40PM
Based on Sony's previous betas I have a feeling that this is not going to be open to everyone. Theyll probably pull the same crap as they did with all the other games, by making it a lottery with extremely bad odds.
Speed55 @ Oct 9th 2008 12:51PM
It is easier now to go multi when the core processors for both consoles is made by IBM and the the same thing for the graphics chips by Nvidia. The only major difference is that the PS3 has more future proof processor with 8-cores and more on chip memory to work with the system memory. So when programming for multiplatform was made easier by MS with the 360 but they forgot to do adequate quality control so they have a problem with Customer Service with some people (typical for MS to rush to market just to beat the competition).

IS THERE A SCREEN NAME IN THAT PIC THAT READS "KILL ME I AM HERE" OR AM I SEEING THINGS?
