"Bloodlines may have been overlooked by a lot of people who would have liked it due to platform loyalty. Due in part to the cost of owning multiple systems, as well as the aforementioned PR-fueled rivalry between Sega and Nintendo, many of the people who love Castlevania the most went Nintendo-only in the 16-bit generation, missing the jump to the Sega platform."
or maybe it was just because of blast processing.

Speaking of Castlevania, looks like there's a (legitimate) next-gen installation of the series in the works for 360 and PS3. Didn't see that one coming.

Hey, at least Wii gets a mediocre fighting game. :/

But when was the last time a really-great 3D Castlevania came out?

I'd rather take the fighting game if it's not as monotonous.

i agree with ChibiKawase. since SSB for the N64 was released (in the N64's generation of course) i've been hooked to fighting games! who knows maybe the Wii castlevania will be better then the 360's and PS3's castlevania. plus we're getting a castlevania for the DS (if it hasn't released already) so i'm not disappointed.

@ChibiKawase

You're making a baseless inference that this new Castlevania will be a 3D title, it may very well be an HD 2D title. If that's the case it'll llikely be incredible, and without question better than Judgment. I love fighting games, and I actually initially defended the idea of Judgment, thought the concept was interesting and if executed well it could have been a solid title.

That's before I actually saw it, everything I've seen and heard about this game makes it sound like its going to be a total flop. We'll have to wait and see, but I think its fairly safe to say that Wii is likely once again getting the short end of the proverbial stick on this one.

*now playing: the_sinking_old_sanctuary.mp3*

This is one of the Castlevania games I played long after Konami changed the overall forumla. I have no idea why I didn't play it back in the 16bit era days, not enough money and too many other good games perhaps.
Thanks to this article, I want to play it again.

I also feel it's among the best Castlevania games, in pretty much every aspect aside from the graphics. (blame Konami, not the system; check out at Ranger X stages 2 and 3 for similar themed, yet way better looking graphics).

The skeletons look kind of goofy in this one. Was this intentional?
