Blizzard has revealed the third (of five total) classes for Diablo 3: the Wizard. According to the press release, "A wielder of the elements and a master manipulator of time, the wizard can hurl environment-shattering lightning bolts, channel explosive arcane energies, and create pockets of space outside the normal temporal flow." The class, along with Barbarian and Witch Doctor, will be playable this weekend at BlizzCon. Update: We originally stated that six classes were shown on the character select screen. A pox on us, it was just the male-female counterparts. Image of character select after the break.
Update: Check out our hands-on of the game and the new Wizard class -- plus the first gameplay footage.

Agreed.
I wonder when it will be release. I'm crossing my fingers for 2009... hopefully sooner than later.

They only disappoint in delayed launches, but never in product quality.

Would someone please explain to me the appeal of this game? Everyone keeps talking like this game is so amazing but I just don't see it. Could someone please explain it to me?
..oh wait, this isn't an LBP thread, nevermind.

I actually have a friend who's beta testing... He heard from one of the dev's that he plays with on D2 that the game is getting released in may or april of 09... Although, Thats just what I heard, and knowing blizzard, I would take it with a grain of salt.

they will disappoint you when they decide that there will be 5 versions of the game, one for each class and you have to buy all 5 separately. No they won't all be available at launch either. F*ck Blizzard. I'm no longer a fan, WoW account is now canceled permanently. I refuse to support this sh*t.

6 classes, or male and female versions of the 3 classes we already know about?
I think it's the latter.

Word. Exactly what you said, its the same 3 classes, male and female. Look at the armor, some of it is exactly the same!

I may be wrong, but I think those 6 characters are likely the male/female variants of the 3 known classes

Those aren't 6 classes those are just male and female versions of the 3 announced classes. The shadowy figure I would assume is part of the Wizard animation, somehow showing him shifting in and out of our space time.

Looks like (from left to right) male wizard (selected?), female wizard, female barbarian, male barbarian, male witch doctor, female witch doctor.
Just the 3 classes we know about in their male and female variations - no sneak peaks at new classes.

Definitely male/female pairs, with the male wizard apparently unplayable or unfinished?

There will be Necro.
(I thought the Witch Doctor was replacing the necro and I agreed with that but it seems that if you b*tch enough about something it will come true, except here in Joystiq.Damn it I want my 5000 posts back.)

Take a second look joystiq crew : those are not 6 classes. It's male and female version of the THREE we know about!
We've already seen both male and female barbarians in gameplay vids and those are the two middle characters showed on the screenshot.
And the shadowy one is the MALE version of the sorceress which was NOT available at the demo but still in the select screen(thank you shacknews)

The Wizard is cool, but there's something much more interesting in these new screenshots. Check out that dungeon now! Despite Blizzard's denials, I knew they'd come around. They went darker, just like I was hoping they would. I've got nothing to worry about anymore.
