Thou who never downloaded an MP3 or borrowed a game from a friend shall be the first one to cast the pitchfork.

Cut him some slack.

Anyway, troy care to write something more about the game?

"if I don't then I wouldn't finish it anyway"

I hope this is true. I know plenty of pirates that justify their choice by saying "game sucks", and then finishing it.

And then logging onto the MP servers.

Which kind of destroys their argument.

Anyone pirating the game will pirate it regardless of when it was cracked. The game is gold, it certainly has enough sales to curb the people who will pirate it.

Let me know if it's worth playing. I loved Fallout 1 and 2, BoS was so-so... I never really like 2D to 3D transitions so I'll wait for the review to make sure if it's more Fallout than Oblivion...

a lot of people do this. its makes perfect sense to me. i've always thought Steam should allow you to play the game for a day or two before purchasing. right now i kinda want Crysis Warhead but im not going to risk getting kicked out of my university for downloading a torrent.

Wow, I think this is the fastest act of piracy yet. Normally they're out a couple of days before the software is released, but before it went gold? That's insane.

"if you're decide whether or not to fork over $60, trust us, it's pretty good."

I've seen the gameplay videos. It really isn't good at all. It's much worse than I would have imagined. Not even "Not a good Fallout, but a good game". It's a complete clusterfuck.

I feel so stupid for holding out any hope of it not being a complete mess.

So you think you watching gameplay videos makes your opinion more valid than the people at joystiq who have playe the game...

right....

You can watch them yourself if you can find them. Bethesda has been taking them down like mad. Watch one and you'll realize why.

If someone can not handle the wait of 2 weeks and needs to download this, fine, but if you do you better pay for the real game when it comes out.

I don't have a problem if you play it but you buy the game when it comes out, but when a team makes a great game and they don't get zilch for it. That's just bullshit.

For people to say it is not worth $60 to try and justify pirating it? That is just idiocy. If you dont like the game, do not play it. Dont pirate it and say, "I wasnt going to buy it anyway." You are the reason we have to deal with these ridiculous DRM issues. @$$hats.

If they allowed a one or two day trial, it wouldn't work. There's too many games with around 5-15 hours of play coming out these days.

The game doesn't even have online aspects does it ?

And what was said is true.

It's probably just easier to check out people online if there are only a few thousands, and then look for modified firmware/game content.

It's times like these that I wish my 360 was modded but I don't want to get into all that crap with consoles and not being able to go online etc etc.

If I was swimming in money I'd buy another 360 just to mod it so I can play fallout 3 early. Don't worry asshats I would still buy the game either way :P

Dell has arcades for $174 with a free copy of Madden '09, which is craigslistable for about $50 bringing your price down to $125.

Also, with the price drop on new arcades the used ones can be found for like $99 on craigslist sometimes now.

I dunno if modding it requires a hard drive or not, though.

It's funny to see people justifying their own piracy. The thing is, piracy is subject one of those delicate slippery slope / collapse of the system arguments. If everyone pirates, even if some of them actually buy the game later...y'know to be uh...nice people I guess, then there is no point in having a release date or, really, making a game at all (considering that most people will not actually pay for it).

Now, I know that an individual pirate's actions don't destroy the entire system; in the same way, me jay-walking doesn't fill the street with errant pedestrians and completely destroy laws against it. But, when you personally pirate and try to justify it, within that justification you are making one of two implications:
1.If everyone pirated, it would be totally okay, it wouldn't hurt the industry, don't worry...which is just wrong.
2.I, for some reason, have more of a right to this game than any honest consumer out there, so I get to steal it/ download it early and just count on the paying customers to make it worth the developers' while.

Really, there is no good excuse. Even the "I preordered but I just can't wait" is easily countered with: yes you can, everyone else is waiting and the dev/publishers don't distinguish between your piracy and someone else's, so let's not even support the idea of piracy plz.

Plz! No? Okay...I hate you guys.
(Well I guess this means I shouldnt jay-walk anymore...so as not to be a hypocrite)

I do not pirate games. But that does not mean that I do not understand human nature enough to be able to understand why it happens.

1. Yes, there will always be people who want to get something for nothing.

2. But in recent years the gaming industry has built a hype machine of epic proportions. But they have not made games to match. I remember a ton of past games that were hyped to be the next coming of the gaming Christ to be nothing more than average. And the reviews are part of this hype machine they really do not help one create a good decision of buy or not buy. So many people feel robbed of money when they purchase the game and find out it is just average. So I think a lot of people will want to try a game before paying for it especially in a hard economy. In the distant past when there was a huge difference between games as far as quality, almost all games recieved fully playable demos of a complete level. This allowed people to try it before buying it, and even most stores had a play before buying policy.

3. Nothing will eliminate piracy, it is just the nature of some people. But in a society where consuming is considered the measure of ones worth it is natural some will want all they can get their hands on. And the industry itself must admit some blame since they create a system where a game is blown out of proportion and the game is not worthy of the hype. So all parties involved must accept some responsibility for piracy in the industry.

Troy you're a fucking tool.

Jakka so are you. You seem to have missed the part in the borrowing equation that involves "your friend" actually buying a copy in the first place and therefore sending some revenue to Bethesda. Unless of course "your friend" stole it to begin with.

If you want to play all your games on a PS3 and 360 where game prices are fixed at $60+ for a year and you have to use a controller go ahead. Don't go out of your way to fuck it up for some of us who actually like PC games and the fact the prices drop faster and the community support is better.

When people are on the verge of stopping production of digital music you can compare it to MP3. Of course it's all the tools whose entire music catalog is pirated that gave us the stupid DRM policies we have now. There's no reason to steal music when it's 99 cents a fucking track and easy to get either. Or do what I do and buy the CD.

"don't know, but those studios that do PC/360 only releases might be regretting not releasing on the secure PS3 platform"

Nope and it shows how little you know about the situation. The only XBOX360's that were vulnerable were the first couple of builds and in those it was the DVD firmware that was susceptible not the system.

If you didn't get one of the models released in the first 2 years of life then you missed the boat; sorry.

So no, piracy in the HD console space is extremely exclusive, compared to piracy in PC and the Wii which is absolutely rampant (even to the point where 13 year old kids are stealing copies of Crysis and Bioshock because it's that simple).
