Watch: Diablo 3's Wizard
We've always admired that certain finesse -- a commitment to craft, if you will -- about the wizard that's missing from the careless hacks of a barbarian. Well, just see for yourself.

This game cant come soon enouph... Damn you blizzard, just a time frame, a quarter or something!
Morisato @ Oct 10th 2008 5:43PM
Blizzard's timeframe is always the same...
From now until the end of time.
Ellianth @ Oct 10th 2008 6:23PM
My first time seeing your video player... You guys have the nicest flash video player interface that I've ever seen. Good job, now I'm gonna copy it!
UltimateQ @ Oct 10th 2008 2:12PM
What a disapointing video. You saw the same 6 attacks over and over again. I was hoping for some sort of finale at the end where you saw a mega attack, oh well =(. I'm sure the game will be much more interesting when its released.
Vidikron @ Oct 10th 2008 4:14PM
I counted no less than 8 attacks, a summon or two, and some defensive spells.
UltimateQ @ Oct 10th 2008 4:18PM
I didn't bother counting. I'm surprised someone actually did. 6 or 8 really doesn't make a difference, the video was still pretty boring. I still want the awesome finale.
Vidikron @ Oct 10th 2008 4:29PM
I didn't the first time, but when you said "6" I instantly thought, "I know I saw more than that". So I watched it again and counted. There may have even been another one in there, but it was hard to tell in some of the larger group battles. Anyway, I'm not sure what you're expecting as far as "finishers" goes. Diablo games don't have MK-like finishing moves, crazy minute long spells like FF, or QTE finishers like God of War.
Zertoss @ Oct 10th 2008 2:13PM
That looks so much better than I expected, and I expected it to look amazing.
I find myself already trying to formulate wizard builds in my head based on the few spells shown.
BananaBoat @ Oct 10th 2008 7:24PM
Is it just me, or did they greatly decrease the field of view around the player? The gameplay in this video feels alot more like Diablo II than the Barbarian demo does. I hope it's a sign that they actually changed it.
This game will probably come out during finals week and ruin me.
Residentevil72501 @ Oct 10th 2008 2:13PM
This game looks really unimpressive, the AI basically did nothing but stand there and the spell detail is absolutely horrid. :(
mergedwarrior @ Oct 10th 2008 3:39PM
These are all zombies.
Vidikron @ Oct 10th 2008 4:07PM
LOL... I disagree completely on both counts.
NightSoD @ Oct 10th 2008 2:13PM
I just died a little on the inside knowing that i cant play this game now. The time bubble looks interesting, wonder how that will affect pvp, or if they even plan for pvp...
SecretAgentHam @ Oct 10th 2008 2:30PM
i sure would hope so! i'm kind of counting on that for some good times with friends.
Blazur @ Oct 10th 2008 2:30PM
JavaScript errors on the page is preventing me from seeing the video =[
SecretAgentHam @ Oct 10th 2008 2:31PM
Damn google chrome wouldnt load it up for me. had to result to Firefox 3... damn beta's
Lurker28 @ Oct 10th 2008 3:04PM
It took almost two minutes for it to lead in firefox, but it loaded instantly with chrome....so I do not know the issue you guys are having with Chrome.
Dacool561 @ Oct 10th 2008 2:30PM
is it just me, or is anyone else just seeing a big blank spot where a video should be?
Sora @ Oct 10th 2008 2:34PM
I'm using Firefox 3 and I am. The thing is, Adblock still has the little "block" tab above where the video should be, so I know it's still there...It's just invisible =O.
Kael @ Oct 10th 2008 2:34PM
It was there before, but yeah, now it's just a blank spot.
Blazur @ Oct 10th 2008 2:37PM
Doesn't load for me on FF3 or IE7. Looks like there's a scripting error.
Titanium_Orchid @ Oct 10th 2008 4:14PM
hehe, I'm running Firefox 2 and no ad-blocking and I've never had a problem viewing videos on Joystiq
Sam @ Oct 10th 2008 2:34PM
no video :'(
Scott @ Oct 10th 2008 2:40PM
Sigh I really wanna watch it =(. Firefox and safari are showing me nothing!
Bingeboy @ Oct 10th 2008 2:45PM
Video not working
Vorbis @ Oct 10th 2008 2:51PM
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2azMHCaO_k til they fix it, qualitys crap but if you're desperate to see it...
yojimb0 @ Oct 10th 2008 3:03PM
looks baller
MasterSaji @ Oct 10th 2008 3:09PM
The first half-minute of it was awesome, despite what others are saying, and then King Leoric made his appearance, and I waited for his epic one-liner, only to be disappointed by his...nerdy voice.
I mean, don't get me wrong, the wizard looks awesome, but poor Leoric :(

FSK405K @ Oct 10th 2008 3:10PM
Looks great but I wish they had some decent AI. Maybe we're just seeing the demons who are stupidly forward attacking rather than some hide and ambush demons.
CHAOS!!! @ Oct 10th 2008 3:18PM
looks repetitive.
Titanium_Orchid @ Oct 10th 2008 4:15PM
you have obviously never played a Diablo game
CHAOS!!! @ Oct 10th 2008 4:17PM
I'm a mere agent of chaos, sir. Here to get my words as white as possible.
Bao @ Oct 10th 2008 3:21PM
Here's a better video on Diablo 3's website that shows more of the wizard's abilities.
http://www.blizzard.com/diablo3/media/movies/wizard.xml
Zertoss @ Oct 10th 2008 3:39PM
Thanks for that link. I didn't expect to see anything on Blizzard's site so soon.
Some of those spells look even more interesting now. Like that time slowing bubble, how she used it to slow a bunch of incoming spells and blast them back at the casters with that energy blast. Looks like she has the old necro favorite Corpse Explosion too.
DIII.net is saying that there are 3 skill trees with 15 spells each and they haven't even finished the trees yet.
Rabidkeebler @ Oct 10th 2008 4:35PM
I saw that, and combine that with some of the stuff in the new video (meteor storm? type spell), new flamethrower, ice spells, plus that reflection spell and the multi clone summon spell. It seems to me that there are atleast 4 trees now. Fire, Lightning (Storm?), Ice, and Arcane.
Zertoss @ Oct 10th 2008 4:42PM
From http://www.diii.net/blog/comments/wizard-first-reactions/
"There are 3 wizard skill trees. conjuring, arcane, storm. all of the trees have 4 or 5 skills in each tier, and there are tiers at level 1, 5, 10, and 15. 20 is listed, but has no skills yet. there are no dependencies per skill, but you need 10 points invested to use any level 10 spells, and 15 to use any 15. In each tree."
Scott @ Oct 10th 2008 3:35PM
Ok. Im gonna be playing a wizard! Cant wait to see more spells!!
mizzak @ Oct 10th 2008 4:53PM
looks bad ass. Seems they made it a bit darker, but it is still colorful. What I see here looks, sounds and feels like Diablo.. Awesome.
Daniel @ Oct 10th 2008 5:36PM
Think it looks okay.. Like the dark theme they got on to it.. From http://diablo3x.com/classes/wizard:
Wizard has masteries that increase casting speed, all types of damage, critical hits in types of damage, provide physical and magial armor. boost weapon damage, etc. huge variety.
stringAnomaly @ Oct 10th 2008 6:01PM
Looks great, but the game sounds too squishy.
Ihar `Philips` Filipau @ Oct 10th 2008 6:33PM
Unless they include some moronic DRM, I see no reason not to buy D3 on launch.
kerensky @ Oct 10th 2008 6:35PM
