ZOMG Dark Knight Blu-ray available for pre-order
38
We usually refrain from discussing specific movies here on PS3Fanboy except on our weekly release posts, but this movie definitely warrants a mention. The summer's biggest blockbuster Dark Knight has a release date and it is December 9th for the MSRP of $35.99. According to High-Def Digest, this 2-disc Blu-ray set will include the 153-minute feature film on a BD-50 dual-layer disc with 1080p/VC-1 video and English Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Surround audio. The disc will also include some yet-unannounced BD-Live-enabled content, as well as a digital copy of the film. It is now available for pre-order on Amazon for $24.95. Full list of extras, after the break.

Digital copy? Is that the PSP copying feature thingy?

Yes, works with PSP. Managed copy allows SD transfers to any portable device, PSP included.

actually 20th Century Fox (the studio releasing the dark knight) says clearly on their digital copy website that psp and zune are currently not supported.

hey listen, just because the PS3 is better than Xbox 360 theres no need to come crying to us. It's not our fault your so jealous that microsoft is failing. Before this article there are about 7 articles on games so what are you talking about when you say "This site sucks it talks more about blu-ray then shitty PS3 games..."
go cry some where else

haha you'll have a blu ray player one day whether you like it or not troll.
I pre-ordered this early last week on amazon (under 15 quid in the uk) and can't wait. Some of the action sequences were filmed using IMAX gear and hyped up to be the best picture quality any of us have seen on our home system. Going to be sweet!

I saw the IMAX version in theaters, and if the Blu-Ray is even half as good as that it's definitely worth the upgrade. It makes an absolutely staggering difference between SD.

Whatever happened to 7.1 sound on films. Plenty of games are 7.1, but virtually 0 films :(

Sounds good, but the price is too high. I'll wait for it to go on sale.

I hope one of the special features is to play the movie with Batman's voice at a believable pitch.

Why are these Blu Ray movies being produced on multiple discs???
I got Iron Man *First blu-ray purchased hoo-rah*
and it was on 2 discs also. I thought since the Blu Ray disc has such a high capacity, they could fit all of the special features on a single disc.
It may sound lazy but, I really do wish I didn't have to get up to switch the discs when they could just fit all of that onto one disc.
Unless there is an actual reason for this...
I mean I understand that a high definition movie takes up a lot more space than a standard but, games take up even more space than a movie.

Nope.
1080p, and DTS Master Audio take up a HUGE amount of space, you get about 3 hours per double-layer BD. Thats it.
If you have a TV and sound system to take advantage of it, nothing comes close. DVD's are fine, only in the sense that watching VHS's on a regular SD CRT are fine.

just skip the rental. no one i know (or even on an internet search!) disliked the movie. it's worth twice as much as they're charging.

anyone know what region code its gonna be on? altho amazon have no info yet, they are also hopelessly unreliable with putting the right code on their site. damn im wishing allready this is region free so i can play it on my australian ps3

WOW!
Though it shouldn't be a surprise, considering BD has 4 times the detail, and all the upscaling in the world isn't gonna magically create pixels that don't exist on DVD.
This film could be the Blu-ray's "Matrix", the killer app that pushes it over the edge.

worry > so far, Warner Home Video (on its own, which excludes New Line and HBO) has only released region-free discs. The artwork for The Dark Knight mentions no region limitation for the Blu-ray. Warner (as well as Paramount or Universal) was actually a member of the HD DVD camp, which didn't support region locking, and their Blu-ray releases are in line with their previous policies.
anthonyjh > No R-rated cut has been announced. The PG-13 rating was actually quite generous, given some shots (especially the ones involving Two-Face) and it looks like, despite some wishful thinking, that Christopher Nolan will make no other cut or release deleted scenes.
