EA store reveal Spore Creepy & Cute Parts Pack
Well, that was fast. With just over a month since Will Wright's Spore was released to the masses, a listing has popped up on Electronic Arts' online store for Spore: Creepy & Cute Parts Pack, something we've known to be coming since our E3 2008 interview. You can currently pre-order the expansion, available as direct download for $19.95 on Tuesday, November 18, though that could change. Are you ready for an onslaught of creepier (and cuter) penis creatures?

Just how creepy and just how cute are we talking?
Einhanderkiller @ Oct 11th 2008 10:51PM
Cute penises.
Moptimus Slime @ Oct 11th 2008 9:50PM
that boxart's a lot better than the original
knighty (GT: ZeraKnight) @ Oct 11th 2008 9:50PM
$20 for extra parts sounds.....a bit much.
Ignatius @ Oct 11th 2008 11:16PM
Sims expansions, anyone?
... anyone?
Esat Dedezade @ Oct 12th 2008 6:52AM
Theres no way that I'm parting with a single penny more for this... this abomination*.
*Well, at least compared to my expectations it was. The only game I have ever regretted buying.
SKI @ Oct 11th 2008 9:52PM
I want an expansion for flying/underwater societies.
theturtle363 @ Oct 11th 2008 11:20PM
i agree, so many of the options were for fish or birds, and you always started coming out of the water. Why couldnt we stay in it?
Snowblind @ Oct 12th 2008 12:37PM
There was originally going to be underwater cities, but they were cut for time. They said it was likely they'd eventually be added with an expansion though.
Kevin @ Oct 11th 2008 10:07PM
And the flood of expansion packs begin...
BigD145 @ Oct 11th 2008 9:58PM
IT BEGINS!!
ThornedVenom (Harley Quinn Defense Force) @ Oct 12th 2008 1:33AM
BUT IT HAS NEVER ENDED.
CaramelZappa @ Oct 11th 2008 9:59PM
How about creatures without legs that move uh... reasonably?
BrotherSimon @ Oct 11th 2008 9:59PM
Milking another Sims like game, it begins now!
Kaelitz @ Oct 11th 2008 10:09PM
It's EA. It began when they were chosen as the publisher.
Haggard (Mr.ESC resurrected on a... thursday?!) @ Oct 12th 2008 8:54AM
I don't get it though. The Sims and its expansion packs were attractive because the core game had high replay value.
Who wants to play through Spore again with a couple more appendages for their monsters?
Shadow08 @ Oct 12th 2008 5:11PM
Haggard, the same people who pay $20 for Sims ITEMS in the "fun stuff" packs. I don't know who would actually pay $20 for stupid items, but apparently a lot of people do.
Haggard (Mr.ESC resurrected on a... thursday?!) @ Oct 13th 2008 11:13AM
But at least those items are available in the never-ending, high replay value gameplay.
My point is it'd be like spending.. no, it is spending $20 on alternate character skins for a linear singleplayer game.
Just Mr ESC. @ Oct 11th 2008 10:10PM
Woah they don't even waited a year before start milking it.
Poisoned Al @ Oct 11th 2008 10:17PM
Couldn't they wait awhile before releasing this crap? Jeeze! I've only just got bored and stopped playing Spore two weeks ago!
Actually the only expansion pack I've ever bought was Barbarian Invasion for Rome Total War. At least that added to the game and justified the money.
thethirdmoose @ Oct 11th 2008 10:23PM
Really? I got bored after about 2 hours, in other words, right when I finished the creature stage.
Poisoned Al @ Oct 11th 2008 10:28PM
I got to the space stage pretty quickly (I made a race of meat eating arseholes), and that was fun for awhile, until you relise all the fun toys are looked away behind hours of tedious grind. The orse bit is that you can't stray far from your home world, becuase you have to run back every 5 minutes to chase off pirates or some shit. Too bad the galaxy takes a good 10 to get across even with the better drive engines.
Psalm Bowser @ Oct 12th 2008 5:47AM
I think it's more your poor attention span, Al.
Less television, video games, and internet, will aide that problem.
Poisoned Al @ Oct 12th 2008 6:59AM
Um no, I think I spent more time on it then most people. I think the problem lays in the fact that the game was repetitive and boring.
Let me guess, you like MMOs don't you?
TreetarD @ Oct 11th 2008 10:18PM
Just when I thought charging for maps was milking it, EA goes and releases this
eolith @ Oct 11th 2008 10:28PM
$20 for extra creature parts? I followed the only real story line, and then... disappointment. Getting there was fun. But there is NO replayability.
Ryuukuro @ Oct 11th 2008 10:54PM
Replay comes with the REAL expansion packs. I know what they're thinking with this but they've made a sad mistake if they're banking of Spore players being like Simmers. I enjoy the creativity and collecting parts thoroughly, probably more than the actual game, but I'm not going to pay $20 just for extra graphics.
Now, if it were $5 then we'd be talking...maybe.
JoeTheBlow @ Oct 12th 2008 5:53AM
Nope, barely touched it in weeks too.
I think EA know this so are shoving a (massively overpriced) pack out the door as they already see the Sporopedia sumbissions dropping drastically.
Anyone who buys this has too much money and should be ashamed.
finnith @ Oct 11th 2008 10:23PM
I can't wait till Spore: H&M clothes
Ryuukuro @ Oct 11th 2008 10:52PM
And the award for best comment goes to...
That was a good one! My thoughts exactly (sarcastically, of course.)
Poisoned Al @ Oct 11th 2008 10:24PM
Sorry to double post here, but a thought just struck me. Almost all the expansions and DLC that was worth buying, was given out for free. I mean Valve could have easily charged for the new weapons in Team Fortress 2, but they didn't. Same goes for the bikes in Burnout Paradise (tho I would have used that update a bit better). The more you pay for add ones in games, the more worthless they are.
Will @ Oct 11th 2008 10:28PM
I dunno. Every expansion that Blizzard has released has been met with praise.
Geist @ Oct 12th 2008 2:57AM
What you're saying is that the expansions that are worth buying are worth nothing.
lorddshadow @ Oct 11th 2008 10:27PM
the penis creatures could get creepier? do tell...
and how can penis creatures become cuter? they never will be and never can be anywhere near cute.
rokobungi @ Oct 11th 2008 11:09PM
YAY!! now that half the people that have bought spore have finished and uninstaled it now here's a chance to use up another installation. I predict 2 more expansions so masses will need to re-purchase the original game.
gcountach @ Oct 12th 2008 1:37AM
Only two? Clearly you're new to EA's ways...
NBShermanator @ Oct 11th 2008 11:03PM
No, the game sucks and that costs waaaaaayyyy too much. Why would I pay $18 for probably 40 pieces that I'll only ever use a 4th of... when I could put that money towards the AC/DC RB2 Track Pack
Griffon @ Oct 11th 2008 11:50PM
Wow, um that is a pretty lame expansion. Seems more like it should be 2.99.
KirbyMeister @ Oct 11th 2008 11:18PM
$20 is waaaaay too much for this. Especially considering it's twice the price of the Creature Creator. If it was $5 I'd buy it up in a heartbeat.
Now if they were to release expansions that added new game phases I'd be happy. They even said they wanna do underwater creatures as an expansion...
Although I don't get why they don't just learn from their best developer and release some of this stuff for free to keep sales of the original $50 package up as long as possible.
SkreeHunter @ Oct 11th 2008 11:44PM
There better be an ass load of parts for $20. Entire Sims 2 expansions cost $30 right? $20 for more parts for everything, then yes. Albeit an ass-load for everyone.
mr mobius @ Oct 11th 2008 11:47PM
The stage transitions happened too quickly and they weren't seemless. The stupid creatures seemed to somehow convert a tiny hut into a full blown city in mere days and I was hoping the creatures would actually be of different sizes. What is with the sparse landscape as well and all the creatures are spread out so there is no interaction among creatures in either hostile or friendly ways.
It got so much hype but is just demo versions of other (no doubt EA published) games.
Blazur @ Oct 12th 2008 12:04AM
Pretty insulting they're releasing this just 2 months after the release of the game. EA strikes again!
peepoop @ Nov 11th 2008 3:42AM
Nevermind WHEN they release it... the insult is that they want more money... for parts! There's no new gameplay, so what are we paying for? New buildings in all the Sim City games were always free, but then Sim City was purely Maxis, pre-EA contamination. We should start a fund to help Maxis buy out EA's interest, so they can get back to producing their quality software with the quality business practices they were founded on. Up with MAxis! Down with EA!
Sesur @ Oct 12th 2008 12:36AM
Of course they did.
hunter @ Oct 12th 2008 1:16AM
well, guys get ready for another tipycal "let´milk the idiots" behaivor form EA.... if this crap sells then they are going to keep doing more and more and more!!! first legs, then toes, then human parts, then sexual organs....mmm now that´s something that i might buy. But if this piece of crap doesn´t sell.....AAAAAAHHHH PIRACY IS THE REASON!!!! PIRACYYY!!! WE ARE LEAVING!!!!!! AAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!
