Well, that was fast. With just over a month since Will Wright's Spore was released to the masses, a listing has popped up on Electronic Arts' online store for Spore: Creepy & Cute Parts Pack, something we've known to be coming since our E3 2008 interview. You can currently pre-order the expansion, available as direct download for $19.95 on Tuesday, November 18, though that could change. Are you ready for an onslaught of creepier (and cuter) penis creatures?
[Thanks, TechNick]

*Well, at least compared to my expectations it was. The only game I have ever regretted buying.

It's EA. It began when they were chosen as the publisher.

Couldn't they wait awhile before releasing this crap? Jeeze! I've only just got bored and stopped playing Spore two weeks ago!
Actually the only expansion pack I've ever bought was Barbarian Invasion for Rome Total War. At least that added to the game and justified the money.

Really? I got bored after about 2 hours, in other words, right when I finished the creature stage.

I got to the space stage pretty quickly (I made a race of meat eating arseholes), and that was fun for awhile, until you relise all the fun toys are looked away behind hours of tedious grind. The orse bit is that you can't stray far from your home world, becuase you have to run back every 5 minutes to chase off pirates or some shit. Too bad the galaxy takes a good 10 to get across even with the better drive engines.

I think it's more your poor attention span, Al.
Less television, video games, and internet, will aide that problem.

Um no, I think I spent more time on it then most people. I think the problem lays in the fact that the game was repetitive and boring.
Let me guess, you like MMOs don't you?

$20 for extra creature parts? I followed the only real story line, and then... disappointment. Getting there was fun. But there is NO replayability.

Replay comes with the REAL expansion packs. I know what they're thinking with this but they've made a sad mistake if they're banking of Spore players being like Simmers. I enjoy the creativity and collecting parts thoroughly, probably more than the actual game, but I'm not going to pay $20 just for extra graphics.
Now, if it were $5 then we'd be talking...maybe.

Nope, barely touched it in weeks too.
I think EA know this so are shoving a (massively overpriced) pack out the door as they already see the Sporopedia sumbissions dropping drastically.
Anyone who buys this has too much money and should be ashamed.

Sorry to double post here, but a thought just struck me. Almost all the expansions and DLC that was worth buying, was given out for free. I mean Valve could have easily charged for the new weapons in Team Fortress 2, but they didn't. Same goes for the bikes in Burnout Paradise (tho I would have used that update a bit better). The more you pay for add ones in games, the more worthless they are.

No, the game sucks and that costs waaaaaayyyy too much. Why would I pay $18 for probably 40 pieces that I'll only ever use a 4th of... when I could put that money towards the AC/DC RB2 Track Pack

$20 is waaaaay too much for this. Especially considering it's twice the price of the Creature Creator. If it was $5 I'd buy it up in a heartbeat.
Now if they were to release expansions that added new game phases I'd be happy. They even said they wanna do underwater creatures as an expansion...
Although I don't get why they don't just learn from their best developer and release some of this stuff for free to keep sales of the original $50 package up as long as possible.

There better be an ass load of parts for $20. Entire Sims 2 expansions cost $30 right? $20 for more parts for everything, then yes. Albeit an ass-load for everyone.

The stage transitions happened too quickly and they weren't seemless. The stupid creatures seemed to somehow convert a tiny hut into a full blown city in mere days and I was hoping the creatures would actually be of different sizes. What is with the sparse landscape as well and all the creatures are spread out so there is no interaction among creatures in either hostile or friendly ways.
It got so much hype but is just demo versions of other (no doubt EA published) games.

Pretty insulting they're releasing this just 2 months after the release of the game. EA strikes again!

Nevermind WHEN they release it... the insult is that they want more money... for parts! There's no new gameplay, so what are we paying for? New buildings in all the Sim City games were always free, but then Sim City was purely Maxis, pre-EA contamination. We should start a fund to help Maxis buy out EA's interest, so they can get back to producing their quality software with the quality business practices they were founded on. Up with MAxis! Down with EA!
