Left 4 Dead demo coming 'early November'
Yes, we already knew that there would be a demo for Valve's upcoming co-op zombie survival sim, Left 4 Dead. Therefore, we're not terribly surprised by Gabe Newell's comment to Edge that the demo (which will allow one to four survivors to play through an early part of the game's campaign) would be dropping in "early November" -- after all, the game is due out on PC and Xbox 360 on November 18, so a preview period of a couple weeks would have been a logical estimation.
Why, then, would we choose to post on this particular announcement? It's simple, really -- to keep the seemingly inevitable, real-life Zombocalypse at the forefront of your mind. Seriously, it's coming, people. Make your arrangements.

I've stared into that picture for 10 minutes, yet i dont know wtf is in it.
CaramelZappa @ Oct 11th 2008 8:41PM
It's a zombie, I think the tank class, throwing an object at survivors. You can see the silhouette of someone through his body because valve wanted you to know generally where everyone is without actually giving you the ability to see through walls/objects. Kind of like first person radar.

Not a zombie at all, in fact short of eating people they share nothing in common with zombies. They are the "infected."
Megadanxzero @ Oct 11th 2008 9:43PM
What is this bullshit? RE4 started something horrible... It's dead, and it tries to kill/eat you, it's a fucking zombie
tawmtawm @ Oct 11th 2008 9:52PM
It's not dead. Think along the lines of 28 days later...it's a human that's been infected with a virus. It's still alive and nothing like a zombie.
Einhanderkiller @ Oct 11th 2008 10:52PM
They're formally called the "Infected", but Valve also refer to them as zombies.
Megadanxzero @ Oct 12th 2008 7:14AM
Think about this reasonably. If these 'infected' go around killing everyone they see how could they possibly multiply unless the people they kill then come back to life as infected? They're zombies...
Obie @ Oct 12th 2008 11:48AM
The enemies in the game are not reanimated corpses, they don't require removal of the brain to be stopped.
They are less Romero zombies and more 28 days later infected...still...I will refer to them as zombies anyways.
Ihavepants @ Oct 13th 2008 1:34AM
ZOMBIES WERE AROUND BEFORE ROMERO, why does it seem like some people think he invented them?
Ron @ Oct 11th 2008 8:43PM
I hope the demo comes soon, this game is on my must play list and I can't wait to test it out.
GreyFox @ Oct 12th 2008 3:17AM
I want the beta for Steam pre-order people like they did with TF2 before this personally.
Will @ Oct 11th 2008 9:13PM
I've been playing Zombie Panic a lot in the meantime :D What a fun mod
Fosssil @ Oct 11th 2008 9:46PM
I'm hoping to use this demo to convince a few of my friends that the game is worth it, so I have someone to play co-op with when the full thing drops on the 18th.
Psycho300x @ Oct 11th 2008 10:17PM
ok that zombie flash game is the biggest piece of crap ever, all the other survivors do is sit there and shoot once a round, then at the beginning of the next round the zombies spawned on my wall and killed ALL 4 of my survivors at once, "what a shit load of fuck"
Arturo @ Oct 12th 2008 1:37AM
Day 1 purchase.
ThornedVenom (Harley Quinn Defense Force) @ Oct 12th 2008 1:45AM
Consider this a Christmas sale for me!
Eggy @ Oct 12th 2008 10:55AM
I'll probably get it when it features during a 50% off weekend on Steam. I think the game looks similar to HL2 and I don't want to pay a full retail price for it. Zombie Panic Source is good enough for me in the mean time.
ExiledRed @ Dec 9th 2008 7:16PM
How am I supposed to know if it's going to run well on my system if I can't play a demo?
no demo - no purchase
wake up valve.
