TGS 08: Monster Hunter 3 is kind of a big deal, pt. 2
As if navigating the area wasn't hampered enough, the monstrously popular booth also saw its crowd overlap with the one swarming the opposing Square Enix booth. The bloggers foolish enough to pass through this patch of people (including the one who wrote these hands-on impressions) were forever lost and shall be mourned.

Can anybody tell me how does London Games Festival(Eurogamer Expo specifically) compares against other shows when it comes to lines? I'd love to come with my mates but fuck waiting 3 hours to play Fallout 3 for ten minutes...
PS:I know the game will be out in shops by then, but hey.
RobLink (Alex Kidd incarnate) @ Oct 12th 2008 6:47PM
No idea, as this is the first Eurogamer Expo. However, I'm trying to arrange a bunch of people to meet up. I've only posted on the Facebook Group so far, and the general concensus is that people aren't going to the expo.
Which I take to mean 2 things:
It won't be that busy there, or
I'm woefully unpopular.
We'll find out on the day.

Imagine disneyland.. but after queuing for 2 hours instead of getting onto an awesomely designed 5 minute ride, you get to watch the middle 10 minutes of a movie. ;-)
(though you'll probably spend the first 5 of those minutes trying to work out the controls).
The problem I had was that most of the games i wanted to play (Fallout, Farcry 2, etc..) don't condense well into 10 minutes of play.
I had more fun with more pick up and play games (platformers, getting my ass kicked at SF4, weird random japanese games i didn't understand.)
I'd recommend avoiding the big queues.
Monkey Thing?!!? @ Oct 12th 2008 5:42PM
lol. Such is the obsession. Fortunately the otaku who buy Wii for this will have the storage solution that they asked for.
Foetoid @ Oct 12th 2008 6:13PM
Your comment is confusing, makes no sense, and makes baby Jesus cry.
Was that meant to be a dig at the lack of internal Wii memory, cause i've had mine since launch, and with my 2gb SD card, i've never filled it. Now with the Wii update to play games straight from SD, i probably will never fill it all.
creid @ Oct 12th 2008 6:25PM
I think Foetoid has misunderstood the announcement. They've said games can be downloaded to SD card, not played from.
Monkey Thing?!!? @ Oct 12th 2008 7:01PM
I kinda botched the execution of that, it was meant to be a clever dig at the "Geeks and Otaku" comment, suggesting that this would flood the console with Otaku, thus creating demand for a storage solution
On that note, the storage solution is misunderstood. You STILL can't play games directly from the SD Card, what they've implemented is something similar to the Guitar Hero IV solution, requiring you to have a buffer of a few hundred blocks of internal memory, which it will invisibly transfer the file in question to when you call it up
Foetoid @ Oct 13th 2008 3:50AM
You both fail big time:
http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/02/nintendos-wii-storage-solution-load-from-sd-cards-coming-spri/
It's save to AND PLAY DIRECTLY FROM an SD card.
Mogster @ Oct 13th 2008 7:31AM
Foetoid wins all.
TFoK (Naked Peach Defense Force) @ Oct 13th 2008 12:15PM
Foetoid definitely wins.
Until he reads the interview at IGN featuring Iwata where he says that the 'storage solution' is downloading straight to SD and nothing more.

Yes, it's a huge deal!
I can't wait for the game too!
ikiryou. @ Oct 12th 2008 6:14PM
Nintendo's done gone and done it. They've added a game to their lineup that's on my must-have list. Providing they can translate their Wiimote waggle into the swing of a 90lb. True Devil Slicer [it's a katana as long as your avatar's tall].
*Waiting on Microsoft to come up with something to entice me to its console - which may not occur this generation*
WRE @ Oct 12th 2008 7:04PM
So...you don't like games, or what?
DMeisterJ @ Oct 12th 2008 8:28PM
True Devil slicer!
It took me forever to get that!
Foetoid @ Oct 12th 2008 6:16PM
Best graphics on Wii: Confirmed.
To think Capcom would outdo Nintendo on the graphics front is marvelous. Now 3rd parties know it's possible!
TFoK (Naked Peach Defense Force) @ Oct 12th 2008 8:15PM
I dunno if it beats Super Mario Galaxy, but yeah, that's some impressive shit right there (for what they're working with). Definitely beats any third party effort, based on art style (or tech for that matter).
novel @ Oct 12th 2008 8:31PM
that still looks shitty to me man
did we watch the same trailer?
TFoK (Naked Peach Defense Force) @ Oct 12th 2008 9:00PM
Those underwater clips weren't the best - check some more out at Gametrailers, as well as some of the above ground vids which look just plain spiffy.
Superstar90 @ Oct 12th 2008 6:35PM
This is THE top Wii game for me right now... barely beating Rune Factory Frontier. I can't wait for those 2 games! I have spent countless (literally I can't even guess how long, I may have even played during my sleep!) hours on their handheld counterparts... now I will have both of them for the same home console!
Ayrkain @ Oct 12th 2008 7:27PM
Yeah, I'm really thinking about getting a Wii just for this game. And maybe a replay of Okami. We'll see.
Anticrawl @ Oct 12th 2008 7:50PM
I knew Monstor Hunter 3 was coming to the Wii but I was shocked that this is how it will look, impressive work indeed.
Charlie_Six @ Oct 12th 2008 9:03PM
I tried Monster Hunter Portable 2 but couldn't figure out where all the monsters i was hunting were at. :( I just got lost and killed over and over...
jimmygotsmack @ Oct 12th 2008 9:31PM
I am intrigued and aroused by news of this game. It has enlarge my stiffen and firm belief that the wii is not something that will flop after its immediate release. That it will come and come again to bring great amounts of pleasure to many people. It will goes to show you that shaking and thrusting movements only harden the market core inner market.
GearSecond!! (a.k.a AwesomeStuff) @ Oct 13th 2008 10:22AM
I lol'd
Dirty @ Oct 12th 2008 10:17PM
TGS was disappointing. Is it over? I feel like there should be something else... Sony, got anything?
Monkey Thing?!!? @ Oct 13th 2008 8:09AM
I agree. Nintendo media summit beat TGS in terms of out-of-the-blue announcements
Closest thing was MS's declaration of Tekken 6 for 360, which quite a few people could've told you was coming.
ExMcCloud @ Oct 12th 2008 10:33PM
Man people love this game...Im all about seeing gamers in a 2 state long line...It really shows our dedication to the ART....Thats right Jack Thompson
ThornedVenom (Harley Quinn Defense Force) @ Oct 13th 2008 12:18AM
Who is this "Jack Thompson" you're talking about?
Quit mentioning imaginary friends. ;)
ButchalaDaora @ Oct 14th 2008 10:21AM
When is the MH3 relase date?
