Are they adding Chun-Li's clothes via CGI?

Personally, I have my fears that the above outfit is what you'll see in the film. CGI clothing on moving live action bodies is disgustingly difficult to do, especially when you're not dealing with a flat, featureless, common color that can easily be edited out. They'll have to go frame by frame and meticulously re-render the clothing for each motion to avoid it looking like Spy Kids home computer special effects.

I seriously doubt this movie has that kind of budget. Expect the above to be the actual thing.

The SF anime movie was pretty damn sweet.

Not so much the edited version we got on the PS2 SF:Anniversary disc, but its worth hunting out.
Chun Li's towel-clad post-shower fight with Vega is legendary.

They may as well just recreate this fight with Kreuk, it'd almost make it watchable.

There's a simple explanation guys:

She was nekkid for Pacman Jones who was makin' it rain from a big blue bag of cash when all of a sudden Chinese mafia guys came in to break up the party. She quickly jumped into the cash bag and spin kicked the guy next to the hooker pole who was trying to get her hard earned monies.

I'm guessing it's a practice garment placed over the top of cable-rigs, during a practice run. It's also (as previously stated) very likely that this garment covers (either in actuality or a CGI potential) her "Chun-Li" outfit. That said: Why not cast a gifted Chinese martial artist from Hong Kong who speaks fluent English? Yeah, there's bound to be a reeeeal shortage of those.

This is an article on a garbage movie captalising off the SF name, son. Of course it's day day in the sun has passed.

Why else would Capcom release this cinematic monstrosity on the public if they cared for the legacy of the series? The answer is they don't. They realise SF2: ALPHA cannot be beaten; they realise SF4 is a simple cash in, and this movie continues in the same vein. Legacy trashing only occurs when a franchise has run it's natural course, when the developers/publishers are fully aware of this fact, but they continue to wring out 'just one more game.' Examples: Sonic, Megaman.

And yes, in the war of simplistic fighters, if we were to compare SF2, the direction SF4 is taking I might add, to SSBB, then there's no contest. Brawl wins hands down.

Lord Bowser has strange tastes, though i agree with him about SSBB

Though Street Fighter has set the standard for your basic side-scrolling fighter, games like Smash Bros and Soul Calibur have just added more depth to the fighting game. Not necessarily in the sense of play mechanics, but in the sense of having more to do (challenge modes, adventures, etc)

Sorry Psalm, if your theory is correct, then the SF series never really took off. See they released a craptastic movie back in late 1994, SF2 Alpha came out in 96. So did everything SF after 94 suck, looked like they may have been doing some legacy trashing since then.

I also must ask why you were calling for Hollywood to make a SSBB movie, you're ready for the death of the series? Or maybe companies don't legacy trash kiddie games, they just stop making them.

2nd person in here to call SSB "kiddie"

Fan-service isn't kiddie, though some of the cast and the play mechanics do appeal to little kids (got me hooked at age 10), a LOT of the stuff in there would pass right over a kid's head, not to mention many of the defunct characters.

Not that I think this film will be the next Casablanca or anything, but I fail to see how this movie will reach the depths of hell in shittyness based solely on Chun-Li's unflattering attire. Aren't we being a bit hasty here?

Gamers tend to nitpick on a pixel level. I wouldn't be surprised at the hasty reaction. That's not to say there hasn't been a precedent of course, but I think most are nitpicking on the wrong things. Kristen Kreuk is at least half Chinese and Chun Li has never really looked Chinese, mostly because of her being drawn in an anime style with mainly rounded eyes. At any rate, southern Chinese people don't typically have "squinty" looking eyes.

The only concern I have personally is how well they choreograph the fighting. The Charlie's Angels fights were great but Drew Barrymore's part was terrible. This movie should at least avoid that much. A good realistic build up to a helicopter kick (of maybe three rotations with hands mostly on the ground) and spot on recreation of the China level would be great.

Well, Kristin Kreuk's at least got some training in the martial arts, pre-movie, or so I heard. I doubt she'd be the weak link in this chain.

But really, why the single frame trailer? I wouldn't expect general good reaction when the bulk of players here seem to relegate Chun Li to unimportant(even though she's been in every Street Fighter Series, and EVERY Capcom crossover game!) but showing just that is asking for trouble.

For those ignorant fools, Kristin Kreuk IS asian. She's half Chinese, but according to today's standards, she is stil considered ASIAN.

And what does "looking asian" mean anyways? Granted, this movie is most likely going to suck, but for goodness sake, get your facts right.

(Oh yeah, to the poster a few posts away from me, Maggie Q is also HALF ASIAN...so according to you, she shouldn't play Chun Li as well)
