Here's a great object lesson in why PR people get so nervous about letting the talent do interviews: While speaking with AusGamers, Prince of Persia animation director David Wilkinson was heaping praise on Alex Drouin, who worked on animations for Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, as well as mega-hit Assassin's Creed. When asked what Drouin is up to now at about 14:28 in, Wilkinson said "He's busy making Altair even more beautiful. Last thing I saw him do was getting Altair to swim."
This off-handed comment seems to suggest (1) New Assassin's Creed game is in the works (shock). (2) It will at least be partially focused on Altair. (3) He will swim, which, considering his bulky cloth duds, could be the most surprising part of all.

One of the oldest gaming cliches, learning to swim in the squeal.

Really? I guess to each his/her own, but damn did I find that game boring and repetitive.

I agree that it was repetitive, but it had a lot of promise when it came to refining it in the future. So long as I don't have to save hundreds of citizens in the sequel I will be more than happy.

Can't wait also, the first one was great, I can't wait for the 2nd one. The first may of had its flaws, but with a 2nd attempt, it will be an amazing game.

I loved it but I'm a sucker for Parkour which is why I'm also hyped for Mirror's Edge.

well, they do need to fix combat, AI, and the missions.

I really enjoyed that these citizens would get pushed around all day every day unless a renegade good samaritan happened along.
It was definitely a repetitive game, but a lot of it was still fun. I think the most fun I had was going back thru missions and leaping on citizen-after-terrified-citizen with the assassinate attack because there no longer was any penalty.

All I remember doing was visiting 3 cities that looked very similar and doing these missions that were the same. The part I hate most was when he was back to RL and you walk sooooo damn slow.

It was repetative but I just loved everything about it. Climbing, jumping, seeing all the beautiful vistas, evading and just fucking with people was very fun. I think I went on a play session where I played 4-5 straight and it didn't even feel like that much time had passed. The graphics, music, atmosphere, combat was all very easy. IMO the story was really good and interesting too. It was neat to see what would happen when you woke up from a session. The ending was crazy and left me wanting more but not in a bad way. Part 2 will be a day one purchase for me no doubt.

I would suggest cutting the HUD way down. It took up way too much of the screen.

Right with you. I didn't mind the repetition, as I felt the storyline and the atmosphere more than made up for any mechanical shortcomings. I've been eagerly waiting to hear about a sequel.

Mutoid Man, you're the worst character ever!
But seriously, I know people found it repetitive, but I just loved the whole damn game. Style, game-play, the sense that there was alot going on behind the scenes that I had to infer for myself. That's why I like the Halo universe so much, too.

I loved the first game. Sure, it had its flaws, but I think they were explainable through the back story. Obvious and well known spoiler ahead:
Altair is only a memory visualized by a sophisticated computer program. All this repetition, all these harrassed people can easily be explained through this. They are merely metaphors for other events that happened...
Like, Altair saved a beggar from cruel soldiers once and the Animus displays this event as another harassed citizen. Or Altair broke into a house, sneaked into a room where two people discussed the guard locations, and the Animus renders this event as another eavesdropping mission. Same think with the abstract chase mechanisms of the Animus.
And this two layered narrative really got me. I loved playing a game in a game. And I loved the bits in between the story missions. I hope in the next game, you can explore the real world more freely.
What I really want for the original game, though, is a freeroam mode after completing the story, with random encounters. Just running and jumping through the cities was great. And with a free roam mode, I'd even try to collect the flags.

The first had some fun moments, but the fun kinda drowned in the sea of repetitive, liquid shit.
We can at least try to swim out now. Fingers crossed for the future.

My guess is another descendant of Desmond since they can't find the whatevers and another ancestor does know. I assume that they call him 'Altair' to possibly not spoil anything. I'm guessing the end to the series will be you playing as Desmond himself.

Whether I will buy the sequel or not really depends on the setting of the game. The setting was what attracted me to the game in the first place, if the game switches to some lame and incredibly overdone medieval Japan setting or something, I'll pass.

I really enjoyed the story. The game play was repetitive after a while, but the story is what pushed me through.
If the story continues to be as good or better, with hopefully improved game play, I'll be a happy camper.
Whatever the case is, I'm sure I'll end up getting it anyways.
