ESRB rates Marvel vs. Capcom 2 for PS3, Xbox 360

A NeoGAF member who hobbies as ESRB archive scavenger has stumbled upon an update for Marvel vs. Capcom 2 that lists the game for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The game, a frenetic 3-on-3 arcade bralwer from 2000 (and probably one of the main reasons you keep a Sega Dreamcast around, assuming you didn't pick up the PS2 or Xbox One version), seems like a perfect fit for Xbox Live Arcade or PS Network. We've reached out to Capcom for more information.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, hopefully it will cause a degradation in value. However, things never actually work that way, because "it's still a collector's item!"

haha i have the ps2 version.... :D i sell it to you for hmmmm $300.00 is in good condition hardly any scratches original box and menu.. i still have the original ps2 you know the one that read the blue discs lol..

The Dreamcast version is better anyway.

I hope its the console version not the arcade version of the game(ie the store so you can buy all the characters,alter uniforms, and character art) while keeping it arcade perfect, so what im basically asking is just remake the dreamcast version not the ps2 or xbox version since they are a little slower

it runs like crap on the 360, there's slowdown and garbled characters, It's on the list, but I'd hardly call it 'compatible'

i got it used on the PS2, too bad it glitches n i cant always finish the arcade.

i dont want to rude or anything, but ive been playing MUGEN a lot more n almost forgot i had MvC2. Already have over 400 chars.

Yeah, but it's nice to have a version of the game that can't be argued for legality. ;D

If it's online enabled I'll probably buy, but my friend gave me his DC version ages ago, and I've got this on the Xbox already. So maybe I won't.

Hopefully it won't have those ugly borders that most XBLA ports seem afflicted with.

I wonder if this means Capcom was able to settle their licensing problems with Marvel. If they are re-releasing the PS2 version of the game, would that leave potential for a MvC3?

Good question. In lieu of MK vs. DC Universe, Marvel might just get back into a licensing agreement with Capcom to create more Marvel fighting games. A MvC3 using the Street Fighter IV engine would be interesting.

I'll be on this game like a fly on shit if they release it.

There is always Tatsunoko vs Capcom coming to Wii eventually (at least in Japan, but my modded Wii isn't particular).

Indeed. I have no idea why I gave mine away, especially since I enjoyed Power Stone 2 and MVC2 WAAAY too much.

Oh, I almost forgot about Power Stone, that isn't on PSN/XBLA is it? I'd rather have that than MVC2! : )

awesome! i just whipped out my old dc copy and started playing this yesterday in preparation for Tatsunoko vs Capcom (importing from play-asia). Great game and a must buy for me if it comes to, either, PSN or Live.

Just in case you haven't seen it, or had some time to waste, here's a video of Tasunoko vs Capcom gameplay (decent quality). I can't wait for this and hope a US version of Marvel vs Capcom 3 (or any US vs game) comes out.

This is the best fighting game ever made. I got it for Dreamcast the day it came out. Most addicting fighting game I've played in my life. Hope it held up over time

Ha ha...of course this happen. I just bought a Dreamcast and this game on eBay just so I could play it.

And of course with my luck I won 2 auctions that had it so I have 2 copies.

I hope they have online play with this but I am not really counting on it.

You see how long Street Fighter 2 HD Remix is taking? We'd have to be thinking about the Xbox 720 if they do HD Sprites.

But yeah, I will buy this first day guaranteed. Best Fighting Game ever.

Actually, HD remix is taking a long time because Sirlin thought he should take it upon himself to rebalance a game that's been played for 11 years.

I don't think it's overboard... though I am curious who they could add from the Marvel side.

I was in the middle of writing a list of Marvel characters they could add, but it got out of hand and too long. Highlights were Apocalypse, The Fantastic Four, Thor, and Deadpool.

And Baron Zemo, who I hope makes a cameo in the Captain America movie :D

I thought they already had Apocalypse? But yeah, the Fantastic 4 would be nice.... even if you could only play as three of them at a time.

Well, there's Tasunoko vs Capcom coming for the Wii, but I don't think anything has been said about a release outside of Japan. It's not MvC, but looks like the same type of game. I

Didn't Sven from Capcom USA mention that he was "working on it" to get Tatsunoko vs Capcom to NA? Hope he pulls through.

Seriously doubt that considering Tatsunoko characters mean nothing to the US audience. Guilty Gear 2 is doing bad as it is so I seriously doubt Tatsunoko vs Capcom will ever make it to the US. Marvel is what really pushed the title in the US.

Guilty Gear 2 really isn't a fighting game - it is shit, though. And I agree with you about chances being slim since Tatsunoko characters are relatively unknown. I mean, they didn't release Namco x Capcom because there were too many unknowns.
