A NeoGAF member who hobbies as ESRB archive scavenger has stumbled upon an update for Marvel vs. Capcom 2 that lists the game for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The game, a frenetic 3-on-3 arcade bralwer from 2000 (and probably one of the main reasons you keep a Sega Dreamcast around, assuming you didn't pick up the PS2 or Xbox One version), seems like a perfect fit for Xbox Live Arcade or PS Network. We've reached out to Capcom for more information.
[Thanks to everyone who sent this in!]

Hell Yeah!! Getting this for both systems.
It's funny how apart from like 2 franchises, companies just stopped making fighting games and we have to just play all the old ones instead.

Maybe they'll fix the game to not be so broken...
Oh, who am I kidding. This is Capcom. They don't "fix" things. They port them. The only time they do updates is in new, "special editions."
And here's hoping for custom soundtrack support to get rid of that godawful music. I'd rather fight with no music than that grating garbage. Especially the select screen music: "I'm gonna drive you up the wall!" "I'm gonna make you wanna die!" "I'm gonna break your @#$%ing will!"
And so on, and so on, and so on. ARGH.

You can edit the song files on the Dreamcast version (as well as the colors.

It's not the ONLY reason my Dreamcast is still hooked up; but it is one of the better ones.

I wonder how good this game would be during online play. With approximately 50ms of lag can you really pull off a lot of the closely timed techniques Marvel requires? Dial-a-combos will still work, but anything you have to time visually might be tough. I'd still play it, but I always have doubts about online fighters. Third Strike online has it's problems, although it is an Xbox1 game; even with minimal lag you can still feel the input lag from time to time, especially when punishing things that have close windows or when you try to parry anything.

Sorry to ruin the mood, but did anyone ever consider that the reason it says PS3 and Xbox 360 on the rating was because of the backwards compatibility? I have been waiting for a perfect version of this game for the next gen sonsole because its a classic that the fans know, love, and deserve. Think of the dough that could be made if this game could come out on the Live/PSN networks.
MvC3 would be amazing of course, but I am digging this Tatsunoko vs Capcom game. Can it come out for more systems other than the Wii though if it comes to NA?

I'm not sure if the ESRB rates older games for newer consoles even if they are backwards compatible.
As for TvC, it really has little chance of being released in the US. The main issue is licensing; different companies own the US rights to the characters features in the game. Tatsunoko doesn't actually have rights to their own characters in the US, apparently.
