MGS4 360 rumor rears its eyepatch once more

Coming as proof that you just can't keep a good rumor down (just ask the 360 Blu-Ray rumor) IGN is reporting that the longstanding Xbox 360 Metal Gear Solid 4 rumor has surfaced once again. The news comes by way of a report from Morningstar, a Japanese investment research firm, which focused on multiplatform trends. In the report a Konami public relations representative, in regard to Metal Gear Solid 4, was quoted as saying, "We're actively looking into a release for the Xbox 360."

As IGN notes, a single quote hardly adds up to any assurance that MGS4 will see the light of day on 360. This is especially so given that series creator Hideo Kojima has denied the rumor to the point of saying that he's tired of being asked about it in every interview. If somone doesn't make good on this rumor soon, we'll have to start one about MGS4 hitting the next Xbox.

Just for the record I lost interest in this series after they went all bonkers on the story line which I might add has Vampires and a dude who rollerblades with explosives. Dont even get me started on Raiden and the whiney girlfriend who wants to talk about our relationship in the middle of a boss battle.

Morningstar was also the name given to a strain of rabies in the book "Plague of the Dead" in which it turned people into zombieeeeees!

It's simple... and Hideo has said this himself.

If you want to play MGS4... go buy a PS3.

Jeez even I'm sick of this rumor, seriously most people who wanted it would have gotten it by now.

I doubt it would even be a big deal if it ends up on the 360 because everyone who wanted it got it already. I doubt PS3 fanboys would even care.

I'm not about to spend $400 to play it, but if it does somehow end up on the 360 aisle (why is it pronounced AILE ???). I might pick it up.

^^It's not pronounced aile, it's pronounced aisle, exactly as it's spelled. Anyway, I played MGS4 on PS3 and it was not a good game. It was a decent action game but nowhere near as good as what's already available on the 360. Not to mention that it's beatable in less than 5 hours, and has zero replay value. Sony can keep it, I'd rather have the next Splinter Cell.

This is like Bioshock for the PS3, seriously...

I bet they would care! It's one of the only games on the ps3 worth getting. Hell I bought a ps3 and ended up renting mgs4, and I beat it in 2 days..It's a Fantastic game, but saying that "I doubt it would even be a big deal if it ends up on the 360 because everyone who wanted it got it already." Is just like saying.."I doubt it would be a big deal if sony got gears of war, because everyone who wanted got it already" It's a deal of exclusiveness that makes a console. I would love MGS4 to come to 360, but it wouldb't bother me if it doesn't. I've alrady played the game :P

if MGS4 ever comes out on the 360 it would probably come out sometime in 2009 by that time Resistance 2, LBP and maybe Killzone 2 will already be out so now MGS4 would not be the only game worth getting on the PS3. Even though MGS4 was a good game i would rather have Resistance 2 than MGS4

The way I look at it.. MGS4 has been out for a good bit of time now.. And it really didnt sound like it was such a smash it was talked up to be.. Therefor, if its not really selling anymore, I can easily see them bringing it over to the 360 to re-coop some more sales that they had expected from PS3 sales..

Exclusives are def out this Gen.. Very few games are launching and staying Exlclusive, and as the Console War grows tighter (See Japan Sales), We are seeing less & less Exclusives besides the InHouse Devs..

Why is it that when BioShock went to the PS3, Sony fanboys were all excited and all, "In your face 360 fanboys, now we get it!"

But now that there's a chance that MGS4 might come to the 360, Sony fanboys say things like, "Who cares anymore? That's game is like 5 months old."

Dude there is a reason MGS4 is PS3 exclusive. Japanese game on a Japanese system. I don't wanna sound like a racist but most Americans and Europeans and anywhereelsethatdoesn'teatricefordinnereans can't get into a game that has a chick with tentacles on their head. And crazy face changing freakazoids. Especially since for most people the shooter is the standard. They can keep MGS4 lets get LBP ported over.

It's the same as the rumours that Bioshock would ever come out on the PS3. 2K Games denied it hundreds and thousands of times, yet it came out anyways just because those pathetic fanboys couldn't stop begging.

If it really was a representive that said that, it could have truth to it though. They're specifically told what to say, and when to say it. It'd be easily dismissed if it was the producer or one of the designers.

I've been wishing for that desperately since i didn't want to buy a PS3 for a single game,
but since Kojima and konami kept saying this would not happen, I've simply lost interest on that game ...
If the rumor is true, for sure I won't pick it for the 360 unless it's a straight release at a discount price ...

I REALLY HATE THIS GAME. I sure hope this doesn't go onto 360. No one wants to get it for the 360 i gurantee you that.

I disagree, i think many people would buy this game. People were crazy over it on the PS3? so maybe for the 360 also.

I've never understood the appeal of this game, and for me, it gets lower with every sequel.

as an owner of both consoles (PS3 and 360) i must say that the constant rumours of mgs4 coming 360 are geting annoying. i like my 360 just as much as my ps3 (if not more coz of gears and halo). the 360 is a powerful console, but it couldn't handle MGS4. it would have to be compressed so much that their would no point in putting on it the 360 coz it would take too much of the games quality away. this is like saying that halo 3 recon will come out for the PS3. it aint just gonna happen coz halo is not meant for playstation and MGS is not meant for 360

well, it could be released onto multiple discs (3-4).

the XBOX 360 has a better gfx chip, easier to program cpu & unified RAM system - so the only place the PS3 tops the 360 is disc space.

the XBOX 360 can easily handle MGS4.

*& i also own both systems - i dont have MGS4 & probably wont get it if it ever lands on the XBOX 360; just not my kind of game :)

I have it on the ps3 but I would buy it in a heart beat if it came out on the xbox 360 I dont think it will because of the space. Also another reason it wont come out on the xbox 360 is because xbox bashed on the rumor of the Blu Ray Drive.

Well I'd definatly buy it if it released on the 360.

it would take 6 discs lmao mgs4 used all 50 gigs of blu-ray capacity and they had to take portugese subtitles out or something, well atleast ya's got gears that game is flippin awesome

That's just because they didn't compress it. Lost Odyssey is 70 GB or something, and it only takes 4 discs.

what are you talking about they didnt compress it??? if you did more research then you would know that they compressed the game to i think 49.6 GB and they had to take the Japanese voices off from the US and EU versions and they also took away the English voices from the Japanese version of the game.

I got a lend of my friends ps3 and rented a copy on MGS4.

I really don't care if it comes to the xbox or not this late in the games life.The only cool thing would be the achievements.

Konami wanted it to be on 360 to make a lot more money.. Kojima only wanted it on PS3..
MGS4's game code is in 4 places on the blu ray, and maybe has an extra bit of code as a directory.. this is to reduce seek times on the disc, to put the game to 360 you could get the games on 2 discs.. getting rid of any repeated code that wouldn't be needed on 360, than compress the audio.. then rearrange all the files & it'll work fine (after the rest of the porting process), since the 360 spins faster & has less to search through, it'll have shorter seek times.. or if they do want to be lazy, shove it on 4 discs (1 for each section of the game)

Otherwise, if the PS3 is sooo powerful (twice as, as said by Sony). Why do alot of games need installs to run just as well as the 360?

I only played the 1st game, it was good yeah.. but what I saw of MGS4 didn't look all that..

Yeah I could buy a PS3 to try it out, but until something interesting appears it won't be happening.. even then it'll more likely be for Resistance 2's co op.. and then gather dust..
