MK vs DC Universe decapitates retail November 16
35
November 16. That's the day that Midway will impale Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe onto retail shelves, at least in North America. European players, on the other hand, will have to wait until November 21 to see a newly frozen Supes served a painful uppercut to his chiseled Kryptonian jaw. Now all that remains to be seen is if Alex Ross alone has enough power in his brush to make us overlook such a ridiculous crossover, or if the pairing of magical ninjas and superheroes in tights is just too much to resist.

I'm tempted to buy the Kollector's edition just for the cover and not the game.

Is it only the Kollector's edition that will have the Alex Ross cover, then?

Actually, I just read the article to which this one links- apparently so. Shame. IMO more games, and movies for that matter, should feature hand painted/drawn cover art.

This game is an abomination...
I thought they were going to reboot the entire franchise.
Not jump the proverbial shark.
This game is a joke. It's time for Midway or whoever owns MK these days to get back to the drawing board and come up with a new universe for MK.
Cuz this shit is just plain ridiculous.

I'm not as against the idea of this game as most people seem to.. But the gameplay looks horribly dated, not even remotely excited about it.
And I'm an MK fan that was able to put up with the outdated gameplay of the past few games. But for a PS3/360 game, it's just unaceptable..

Well, if you're waiting for MvC 2 to get properly balanced, never gonna happen. But if all you want is a huge roster and fuckall for game design, should be coming soon.

Sheppy, of course that's what we want! That's why we still have our Dreamcasts and are paying 100$ on ebay for PS2 copies!

With SFIV, Blazblu, KOF XII, SSF2THD and the possibility of Marvel VS Capcom 2 via download, I could care less about this crapola.....Midway's lost me after MK2, and that's a LONG time ago.

Considering most of the playtest impressions have been largely positive, I may have to keep an eye on this one. Hell, most have been saying it reminds them of MKII.
As for the obsurdity of the matchup, the only people complaining are idiots. Look at ANY roster of ANY fighting game as a thematic collective and tell me that makes sense and I'll show you exactly how your educational system has failed you. Fighting game stories and rosters are for fun. Some of the most beloved franchise in fighting make about as much sense as the average Britney Spears lyric. And if you're going to accept a Russian Wrestler fighting an Indian Shaman but MK vs. DC is "too out there," you're an idiot.

And I would say you're just an arrogant asshole.
But what else is new?
There's a line and clearly it's been crossed by this bullshit title.
You can defend it all you want but this whole game is based on the most ridiculous notion of all time when it comes to fighting games.
And I think anyone who has taken MK seriously (weird I know) should be offended by this game.
Thanks though Sheppy for calling us all idiots for not agreeing with you.

I'd wonder why I'm responding to you but the answer is simple. I just want to see how far you go before you need a new username. To bring a point to the conversation and to illuminate the stage you stand upon clearly marked "fucktard," allow me to elaborate.
Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is currently one of the most sought after fighting games. You can argue this concept makes sense, but such an arguement is ridiculous. Or how about Eternal Champions where an alien kidnaps people from all eras and times and forced them to fight. Or of course Fighting Vipers or World Heroes, Guilty Gear, Waku Waku 7, Tekken, Battle Fantasia, or even Rival Schools. All fighting games are retarded, period. Conceptually and storywise.
And somehow MK vs. DC is the step too far when a Rock and Roll punk had a cage match with Pepsiman....

Sheppy your arguement of Marvel vs Capcom 2 is flawed.
The MK franchise has always been a series that has been serious in its storyline and presentation. And now they come out with this concept which is the largest left turn possible.
Neither the Marvel video games (made by Capcom) or Capcom video games have ever taken themselves seriously and have been extremely comic-bookish. Thats why the conversion to the Marvel vs Capcom universe was pretty flawless.
Also, alot of people seem against this game because the whole concept seems like a jab at the very MvC2 game you referenced. The only difference being that all the Capcom games leading up to MvC were fun.

I don't think you've ever touched an MK game. Since when was dropping an arcade on a players head serious? Or turning a character into a baby. MK is known for being over-the-top with the violence and at times pretty damn comical.

So let me get this straight... here are some examples of Mortal Kombats lunacy....
Fatalities
Babalities
Animalities
Friendships
Toasty!
Brutalities
Sub-Zero as a Ninja, and then as a part of a lost clan in outworld known as Cryomancers.
Lui Kang alive... then dead, then as a zombie with meathooks on chains....
Face it, kitten. Pretending Mortal Kombat was completely serious from the onset is once again pointing towards to fallacy of the original arguement. Unless, of course, you intend to compare Time Killers favorable to Bioshock. In which case, the education system has failed you.
Whether MK vs DC was a ripoff of the versus series is debatable butt it's not like Mortal Kombat was always serious. In fact, the series started going downhill once they started taking their own mythos too seriously. In conjuntion with followup plot details even going so far as removing the original plot detail of Sub Zero killing Scorpian.
The series needed a reboot, this is a great place to start.

No. There will be no severed limbs in this game. Beat them to a pulp? Yes. Burn them alive? Yes. Freeze and shatter them? Probably yes. Rip their leg off and beat them to death with it? Hell no.
This is Die Hard 4 all over again, and that's a damn shame...

I have to agree with sheppy with on this one. In the end, fighting games are graded on the actual fighting engine not the story. MK VS DC isn't any more silly then Capcom VS Marvel. If the fighting engine is fun and deep, you will care not how the story unfolds.
Personally I am not a MK fan but I did like MKII so if MK VS DC plays like MKII, its a good bet that game will see my money
