I am waiting for the news too. I did hear about the 60 gb HDD but I am curious to know if I can get a transfer cable to move my 20 gb data.

Tried my numbers from the arcade in my bedroom, and it says I have the necessary hardware, which I don't. I have hooked my hard drive into the arcade once or twice but it is not a permanent solution. Has anyone tried to contact microsoft about this yet?

I believe this is how it works.

When you sign into live your console phones home to Microsoft with information about your console. If the last time you signed into live you had enough memory then it will not give you the deal. If you do not have enough memory then it spits out the offers.

Doesn't this mean that the new xbox 360 pros are no longer technically $300 but $230? Because all you have to do is buy an arcade for $200 and get that 20gb harddrive for $30. Yes you are gettin 40gb less but a new xbox 360 with a 20gb hard drive for $230 is hard to pass up.

Yes it is real, goto -> http://xbox.com/storage

also if you have EVER connected a HDD to your xbox AND gone online with it connected, you will not be able to get this deal. Sneeky microsoft, when you are online it tells them what you are using. I can still get it though because I registered my xbox on the site BEFORE i connected a HDD.
Took about an hour on the phone though! and they cant order it for me yet so i need to call back (with ref number) early next month

Called MS again... and this time, "yes its a part of us, no I don't know where you might have heard that. Perhaps the person had not been told. No im not willing to offer compensation for time lost!" :)

Ah well...

Works for Australia.

Contrary to an earlier poster, I was offered the 20GB plus 3 months of live for $34.99 AUD.

This was for an Arcade that was bundled with 256MB MU.

You all should check out amazon.com. There are some good deals on 120GB hard drives for just over $100. I'm not sure about the details on 60GB HD sold separately ($99, but no transfer cable), but it seems like getting 120GB for about the same price and getting the cable you actually need with it is a pretty good deal. And if you don't need the cable, chances are someone you know will if they get a 60GB HD without one.

Recieved my £12.99 20Gb hard drive, this morning.

When plugged in it claims to have 13.5Gb on it. Not sure if that's a standard rip-off, or if it's because it's refurbished, but either way it's not 20Gb..

Still, it works, and it was only £12.99, so there you go.

No 3 months of Live.. Boooo...

They use 2GB for (xbox 1) emulation, 4GB for caching, 2GB for something else, or something along those lines.

Xbox 1 emulation! Man, I forgot all about that!!

\me kicks out his collection of unplayed Xbox games, even though the X360's sat right next to the Xbox..

Can someone tell me if any Hard Drive can be added to the Arcade Xbox? does it take a SATA drive or a PATA drive? Is it a laptop drive or a desktop drive?
Will the Xbox HD-DVD player play HD-DVD movies trough any of the Xbox new models including the Arcade and Core consoles?
