Hopefully it's because Double Helix wants to make a better game. The port to PS3 was absolutely ridiculous.

Those d-bags should be ashamed of themselves, just trying to make a buck, designing the game only for the 360.

Fricken morons.

I'm playing through the PS3 version at the moment, and I can't say that I agree with you one bit.

wow I am about half way thru the game right now and its great, it sounds like you have a personal hatred towards double helix

this game not only uses the same fonts, sound effects, textures, and "grain filter" as all other silent hills, but now you can actually move the camera around, move your character more freely, move objects in the environment around, dodge attacks, and make dialog choices... hmmm what's not to like????

Not that I care much for this game but. February 2009 when America has been playing it for a month!!! That is just absolutely fucking messed up, seriously. Translation and localization are basically not needed (not for UK anyway) so what if they talk american? And I doubt it would take that long to get permission to sell it over here, there has to be a bigger reasons or its shear stupidity and laziness.

The UK does not count as all parts of Europe. After all you usually you have at least 4 other languages French, Italian, German and Spanish (sometimes there are even more languages supported). Depending if they only have the Text or also the Audio localized it takes some time. Besides of that they can get across some additional technical problems that are not in the US version and need therefore more time. Such things can delay a release, also PAL version needs to be send to Sony regardless if the US version is already approved or not and while SCEA can say "Ok game fine let's bring it out", SCEE could say that there are things that need to be fixed before they give the green light.

Also maybe the dev team does not have enough/or the right people to take care of the PAL version (don`t know there structure) and Konami does not make the Loc QA themselves they usually hire a outsourcing company to do that work.

So as you can see there are enough things that can go wrong or only slow and force the company to delay a PAL release.

Besides of that by February Americans will be able to play the game for 5 Months, it`s already out in the US. The good thing is as usual PS3 games are region free and people can import the US version (usually cheaper then the PAL version even with the shipping costs).

Translating between US English and UK English must be such hard work. Think of all those extra 'U's and all the 'Z's that have to become 'S's!

In other news, Europe game retailers are noticing a rapid cancellation of Silent Hill pre-orders only to be replaced to Dead Space pre-orders...

why do people care about the serie but then silent hill 0 came and i was starting to lose hope seen all those ugly CGI animations and same monsters...i give it another chance with homecoming...but wait!? why isnt it called silent hill 4? because the game sucks!! dont buy it if you are a fan of the series its just silent hill 0 all over again...even the plot. Doble helix you can go to hell..but not the one in silent hill because you will probably screw it.

why is't it called silent hill 4??? because there already was a silent hill 4... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silent_Hill_4:_The_Room

technically this is the 6th silent hill game :)

and its a great game, IMHO 1,2,3 were great, 4 was horrible, origins was OK and Homecoming is great

my bad. It is 5 i know. but really? you find 0 and 5 better than 4????

At least 4 was trying to innovate in the series not just make a collage out of all the silent hills. Take for example Resident evil...its not racoon city anyomore!!! even when the city was iconic they changed it and it worked well. Silent hill 4 was trying to make that transition. If you compare to the other silent hills in the serie you will find it OK...but compare it to the market out there ( other horror games) and it sucks! its just like the movie...it looks like but its not.

I just don't get the bad buzz this game gets sometimes. Most of the reviews were good, and being more than half way through it I can say I'm enjoying it. The only Silent Hill I've enjoyed more was SH2.

I don't know what some people were expecting. It's not Resident Evil, it's Silent Hill. If you aren't down with the Silent Hill experience then it's probably not the game for you.

Also, Silent Hill 4 originally wasn't even going to be a Silent Hill game. They thought a new IP wouldn't sell well because there was a glut of horror titles out at the time so they tweaked it a bit and called it Silent Hill 4.
