I think a modern hits game could actually be a fun diversion, given that most popular one hit wonder songs never make it big enough to get into the games, but could still be fun to play while they're relevant (which they won't be in a few years).

As far as whoring out goes, do people feel the same way about RB: AC/DC?

I do, but that's mostly because (as far as any info I can find) they're live versions of the songs and I like having the option of going piece-by-piece. Only a very few songs are (in my opinion) better live. Plus, it pretty much eradicates the chances of "Dirty Deeds", "TNT", and "Thunderstruck" to be DLC.

I know that this community only of RB Fanboys and few people who are not as much GH Fanboys as hypocrite haters,but why are we all having this whole discussion in first place other than the fact fanboys like to shit all over Guitar Hero?

Activison trademarks as a just-in-case-move so they can avoid legal issues and others.Just like they did it with DJ Hero and GuitarVillain.

...Fucking Duh!

I am all for decade/genre games for the rhythm genre. I really want this to showcase some of the more popular hits, but at the same time, have some more underground songs, and a full bonus setlist fresh acts never before seen in a rhythm game or in the media!

Aside from the bonus setlist that never was, I really enjoyed GH:Rocks the 80s. It had a wide variety of music, from some of the bands that truely defined it. From songs like Turning Japanese and I Ran to Caught in a Mosh and Wraithchild, Rock the 80s had a setlist that encompassed alot of genres, but at the same time, felt unified.

Now, Guitar Hero: Aerosmith did have some sort of unification, but it was only Aerosmith itself. All of the other songs on the disk could have just been random picks, because they didn't feel in-place.

I don't feel great about Guitar Hero: Metallica, for this reason. However, if it was a disc pumped full of non-Megadeth* metal acts, I would be happy.

*Before you fire the flamecannon, I do not hate Megadeth. Actually, I really enjoy Megadeth! However, you'd be batshit crazy to think they will be in Guitar Hero: Metallica. Never gonna happen.

Never.

Maybe it's just me, but every time they use this picture in a post, it looks like a giant, vein-encrusted penis is going to attack the guys on stage.

Modern Hits is probably going to be all roid rock and Hot Top-punk. And Coldplay.

I would play the SHIT out of a bluegrass guitar game, that would be fun as hell to play if they did one banjo and one guitar.

And THIS type of crap is why I love Rock Band/Rock Band 2 and their constant stream of DLC that works in both games. Screw GH and its business model.

Guitar Hero Aerosmith
Price = $60
Songs = About 50
Price per song = $1.20
Price for the whole pack as Rock Band DLC = $100

...WHY DON'T PEOPLE RECOGNIZE THAT RB DLC IS A BIGGER RIPOFF?! These side bundles offer a hell of alot more content for much less money. DLC can add up, fast.

Trev, you're just stupid to say that. People are willing to buy DLC at $2/song because they want that song. If you liked Aerosmith, you had to spend $60 to get a disc with half their songs and half filler.
And there were only 42 songs on GH:A, so now you just paid $1.43 a song for shit like Joe Perry's solo tunes.
Fuck that, RB wins!

Because with Rock Band I can pick and choose what songs I want. I'm not forced to buy a bunch of ones I couldn't care less about just to get a few I do like.
