But do you get the map editor on the console versions or is it only on PC?

Please dismiss my ignorant comment. I finally gave google a try and found out it's on the 360.

This game is gonna be sweet, I already paid for this game in full. Map editor on the last Far Cry was awesome. I just hope enough gamers buy this with Fallout 3 and Gears 2 so close to releasing. I almost didn't buy this game because gamestop had a big ad behind the counter that said 20% trade in credit towards Fallout 3. If I was in to the whole RPG thing I would have bought it.

This looks great n' all.
But that music... I just can't get that scene from, Big, out of my head.
Reeeally off putting.

Haha, just realised it's cannon and not the song I was thinking of.
Still makes me think of big. And still off putting.

Ha! Yeah, it had that feel to it didn't it?
I think the song you were thinking of was chopsticks. I don't remember the name of the other song they were playing...Heart and something else. Great movie!

I really enjoyed the first frycry for the pc but didn't have too much fun with the xbox or the 360 version. It looks like they really kicked it up a notice on this one.

this is going to be the LittleBigPlanet of shooters. Halo 3's forge was a great beginning, but the sheer scale of this is amazing. I only hope you get an relatively high object "budget." The videos they've released about the editor suggest that you'll run out of imagination before you will "budget," but after some fun ideas in Forge aborted because of a budget shortfall, I'm a little wary.
Either way, I was dead set on picking up Fallout 3 next week, and now i'm not so sure anymore.
fuck.

This trailer is featuring the PC version of the map editor, which is much more full featured than the 360 version. You can even see it in the trailer when they are editing in an obvious Windows application.
The map editor for Far Cry 2 on the 360 will be similar to the original version. You are allowed to edit a heightmap and place a bunch of objects in the map. While this is better than 99% of FPS's on consoles, it is nowhere near the editor that you get on the PC.

With the Xbox map editor, you get a large flat square surface. As you move along that surface, you can raise or lower it. Then, you can place weapons, items, foliage, etc. on the map. As an example of what you couldn't do: you can't create something like a cave or a natural land arch because all you can do is lower or raise the land in any one spot.
With the PC version, you can create actual geometry. You can create things like that giant pyramid demosntrated, or even those giant statues.
