After trying to plug the many holes in its sinking ship with dollar bills, Midway has begun to frantically look about for anything to toss overboard in order to stay afloat. GI.biz reports that the company plans to rid itself of any future titles based on unspecified licensed properties, though the specific brands and number of games swamped in this latest act of desperation remain unknown.
Interim CEO Matt Booty, who continues to steer the ship following the resignation of former CEO David Zucker, stresses that the company continues to evaluate its "involvement with underperforming projects" and focus on what it calls its "core properties." Even so, we've circled November 16 on our calendar, and will wait and see if Midway tries to drown the Man of Steel should next month's otherworldly slugfest with DC Comics not pan out.

hmm... focus on making good games... what a revolutionary idea.
Seriously though, I would like Midway to succeed if only for the fact that they are a Chicago based game developer.
p.s. Please make another NBA Jam

What have they made recently that was worth while. The only things I can think of in the last two years are stranglehold and MK:Armageddon "which some people hate".

Midway is heading down a dark path. I'm getting a bad feeling they are gonna be the next Atari.

Not a midway-owned property, but it has to be done!

If Midway wants to make money, they need to put NBA Jam TE on Live/PSN with online play. I'd buy it in a heartbeat

This is such a great idea and one I had some time ago and you would think it would be so easy to think that people loved NBA Jam why not put in online for people to buy and if it is remade too that would be cool too.
I also would love to see a new Rush, Hydro Thunder, Primal Rage, War Gods, Ready 2 Rumble Boxing, Earth 2160 & Army Men series. Plus that was just to name a few.
Midway really needs to look in there backcatalog because they have some great IPs but do not use them at all.

If Midway gets rid of all their underperforming licensed titles, that leaves them with... Um... Nothing?

Anyone else wish they would make another entry for The Suffering? I realize the games never exactly flew off the shelves (mostly due to Midway putting more advertisements in other games that turned out to be garbage), but I thought they were decently-made and they had a pretty cool story, especially how your save data from the first game transferred your morality choices to the second game.
Maybe some other development house will pick up the series...

I hope that doesn't include a Stranglehold sequel. :( I played that more on Xbox Live than Halo 3.

Gah! "Core properties." God I HATE management newspeak. It makes me want the ability to punch people with the power of my mind!
