Obama ads not just in Burnout Paradise
With its Burnout Paradise tour underway, the Obama campaign has moved into other swing games that they feel they have a chance in, including 18 different Xbox Live titles. There are some obvious, classically blue games like Guitar Hero 3 and The Incredible Hulk, as well as more surprising choices, NBA Live 08 and NFL Tour among them. Shockingly, even NASCAR 09 is in play in 2008, and will receive the first Democratic media blitz in that game's history this year. (When asked if they would be moving the campaign into Cabela's Most Dangerous Hunts, the Obama representatives laughed a little bit, then walked away.)
But you may not be able to find the ads just yet. In this election, where a voter lives is, in some ways, almost as important as what games they play. The ads are only targeted in Ohio, Iowa, Indiana, Montana, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Nevada, New Mexico, Florida and Colorado, all states where early voting is accessible and easy.

It's a TRAAAAAP!

You're in for some disappointment, Miguel. But you still have 2012 to look forward to:

On the other hand, even the retarded governor of Alaska probably could have managed to hit the correct 'Reply' button when making a snarky political comment, thus saving herself a great deal of embarassment.
deadrody @ Oct 16th 2008 7:08PM
hey copa - "retarded governor of alaska" ? Really ?
Guess we know the average character of Obama supporters.
Markez @ Oct 16th 2008 7:19PM
OH RLY!? You know the average character of any Obama supporter from a comment on a blog article on a videogame blog? You should appear on news and break it to America!
So if I find something, anywhere I please, on the internet that is anti-Obama with inflammatory language or insults, that automatically means that it's representative of all McCain supporters!?
WOWEE! You're smart!
Cody @ Oct 16th 2008 10:27PM
The Obama camp is ingenious. Go Donkeys!!!
Eric @ Oct 16th 2008 4:35PM
Thanks Obama! I almost forgot to cast my early ballot for McCain.
On a more serious note: Can't political ads stay the fuck out of my video games?
syrik zero @ Oct 16th 2008 4:37PM
Looks like you're on the same page as Hayden Panettiere...

Miguel @ Oct 16th 2008 4:37PM
Agreed and it also reminded me to cast my early vote for McCain as well.
Obie @ Oct 16th 2008 4:48PM
Whoa first time I heard her drop the f-bomb....that was kinda hot, though I hate her character on Heroes.
Obie @ Oct 16th 2008 4:50PM
Dude, the only reason you aren't seeing McCain ads, is because he doesn't know what "vidjagames" are.
AoE @ Oct 16th 2008 4:58PM
"On a more serious note: Can't political ads stay the fuck out of my video games?"
No, EA likes teh moniez
Superstar90 @ Oct 16th 2008 5:04PM
Obama will save the cheerleader and save the world.
Oneiroi @ Oct 16th 2008 5:33PM
Yeah! Get political ads out of my video games, instead I want more advertisements for the soda, movies, and fast food chains...rather than having to think about "democracy", "voting", and "presidential candidates"...once every four years.
onetrueping @ Oct 17th 2008 7:31AM
Reposting here, since my "reply" misfired...
I think these ads are a GOOD thing. And here is why:
As a group, gamers have consistently complained about video game legislation and similar issues, in an outspoken effort to protect their chosen form of entertainment. This has included the creation of multiple political lobbies in the names of both video game consumers and creators.
Now, we have one of the currently most influential politicians in America ACKNOWLEDGING that we, the video game players, are a legitimate political block, and DELIBERATELY TRYING TO GET OUR VOTES. We are NOT being ignored. We are NOTICED. We are WORTH SPENDING MONEY ON.
We have power now, at least in part.
I personally am going to vote for the man who's acknowledged that my opinion counts, and not the man who is willfully ignoring us.
Maverick Saturn @ Oct 17th 2008 9:11AM
Halo needs a few 'make love, not war' ads
syrik zero @ Oct 16th 2008 4:36PM
My state is excluded.
The whole idea is weird to me though
Markez @ Oct 16th 2008 4:38PM
Yep it says a lot as to how far advertising has come and how crafty they are, being able to target specific states, in specific video games, with specific advertisements. Who knows what the limit for advertising really is...
At least there's not a McDonald's logo on any of my consoles...
syrik zero @ Oct 16th 2008 4:40PM
I think you meant, "At least the the moment there isn't a McDonald's logo on any of my consoles"
Titanium_Orchid @ Oct 16th 2008 4:46PM
no McDonald's yet, but there is still Mountain Dew and Doritos every now and then.
Burger King has been kind enough to visit me through Quore.
j.howlett @ Oct 16th 2008 5:27PM
consoles will be shrunk down and given away in happy meals. you can jump on the free wifi to play online
Maverick Saturn @ Oct 17th 2008 9:00AM
I think it would be hilarious to see McDonalds in such titles as:
Halo - Lets blast those mudda effing covernantssess to hell then go get us a happy meal
Final Fantasy
Killzone
Fable
and several others, if I ever saw thier logo, I'd probably have to stop and stare at it more then the great scenery around.
Glitch720 @ Oct 16th 2008 5:08PM
Hey Obama is a smart man to do this. These ads beat the soda and snack ads you usually see because they have a cause. Besides who wants to elect someone who has Palin as a VP?
http://www.palinaspresident.us/
Nightwing @ Oct 16th 2008 5:12PM
You elected bush and then re-elected him after his first 4 years. I'd say Palin is a step up in his case
Monkey Thing?!!? @ Oct 16th 2008 5:30PM
Eh, i've always been one to belittle Bush, but he has Palin beat. Running Texas is a touch harder than running Alaska
Maverick Saturn @ Oct 17th 2008 9:07AM
If I had a choice out of Palin and Bush....I'd kill myself ¬_¬
John @ Oct 17th 2008 10:52AM
please do.
Brian @ Oct 16th 2008 4:49PM
That is crap, Go McCain!!!
burjeffton @ Oct 16th 2008 4:44PM
"all states where early voting is accessible and easy"
"and where ACORN is recruiting"
ugh. I play videogames to try to forget about horrible people like politicians...
Eric @ Oct 16th 2008 4:44PM
wow politics are getting outa hand at this point I thought games were a place we could go and emerse ourselves in a fantasy world or some such and get away from this type of thing in general
not that there's any thing wrong with ingame adverts but seeing a ad for a AXE body spray is a bit diferent from a political ad
its abit much but maybe thats just me
Shagittarius @ Oct 16th 2008 4:46PM
Am I the only one who thinks that picture looks like he has a set of bawls on his chin?
CTC XBL-supapaypamawio PSN-ctclaw @ Oct 16th 2008 4:49PM
Yea, this is probably not the picture they should have used...He looks like he's taking a dump or something.
Genisus @ Oct 16th 2008 4:52PM
BLASPHEMOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! STOP SPEAKING OF THE MESSIAH IN SUCH A WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He will not only punish you for pursuing the American dream, he'll also smack you with his chin!!!!
Oh, and you know that little M rated game you enjoy now....in 2009 they'll be fewer and fewer of them...till there are none! Save the children!
Markez @ Oct 16th 2008 4:57PM
Listen moron, nobody, NOBODY, regardless of political affiliation, is going to eliminate/ban all M rated games. For godssakes, Jim.
Daniel @ Oct 16th 2008 5:20PM
I didn't notice the balls on chin thing until you mentioned it, but I DID notice that he looks like he's bat-shit crazy in that picture.
ello silentbob @ Oct 16th 2008 4:50PM

No one, believe me. If they stopped and thought about that crazy bitch for just a second, big time reality check:

Habiib @ Oct 16th 2008 5:28PM
Palin's a MILF
Obie @ Oct 16th 2008 5:29PM
Nah, Tina Fey is. ;)
In A World (XBL) @ Oct 16th 2008 5:50PM
Yes, Habiib, she's a MILF, just not a MILE (Mom I'd Like to Elect)... not in a million years... oh sorry, did I say million? I meant 4,000 years, the REAL age of the earth.
Saria the Cat @ Oct 17th 2008 12:37AM
I like how people keep voting up this comment, even though it's spam being posted over and over by possibly a human or bot. I am an Obama supporter, but I will never support spam, even if it is for a cause I agree with.
Maverick Saturn @ Oct 17th 2008 8:52AM
Oh God, 4 years of seeing Palin, she's irritating everyone over here as it is in the few short months shes been around, shes been the butt of all tv jokes, could I imagine another four years of her? :O
John @ Oct 17th 2008 10:50AM
She's the butt of all the jokes because they are pushing their own agenda.
I'll take seriously all your Palin isn't qualified comments as soon as one of you tell me what the fuck a community organizer does.
And I'm voting ron paul or not at all BTW before I get painted with the McCain supporter Brush. That guy's an asshole
Metal Geario 360 @ Oct 16th 2008 5:10PM
IMO we are so in debt, and the economy faltering to a point where either candidate is going to have a rocky first 1 year maybe longer.
Yes McCain has served our country and was a PoW, but he was a pilot...( Dont give me the unpatriotic look
Obama i think should have at least finished his term as Senator, and gotten more exp. under his belt...
So either way, we are fudged in some way or another.
Drew @ Oct 16th 2008 5:30PM
Who would you rather have in your loot grinding party? A retarded mage who won't go away, or an n00bish intelligent warrior?
In A World (XBL) @ Oct 16th 2008 5:57PM
But the retarded mage has the unique ability to toggle PvP on and off with the "Doublespeak" charm, fortified +8pts via "Grand Robes of Hypocrisy"
rinks @ Oct 16th 2008 5:17PM
You guys are way out of your depth here. Go back to fanboy wars.
Hala Madrid!! (www.realmadrid.com) @ Oct 16th 2008 5:17PM
Amazingly I got one of these ads while I was playing the european version of FIFA09.
Damn, not even Europeans are safe from US political ads.
Can you guys choose a President already? Fuck!
Obie @ Oct 16th 2008 5:22PM
I know right? We once this election is over we can celebrate in games of GOW2 and L4D. Time to come together....and frag each other. ;)
Jack @ Oct 16th 2008 6:03PM
Maybe it got you by IP and not what version of the game. Unless you reside in Europe too. If so, thats just obtrusive.
