PSP Brite unboxed, dissected, photographed

Sony's re-tooled PSP-3000 (a.k.a. the "PSP Brite") is on the loose, and that means two things: 1) you can buy one of your very own and 2) someone's bought one, busted it open, and taken pictures. This post is about the latter (as if the image didn't give it away).
The folks at PC Watch Impress have snapped gobs of photos showing the unboxing and ultimate disassembling of the new PSP model. It all looks fairly similar to the guts of a PSP-2000, although as one PSP Fanboy commenter pointed out, those hoping to pop a nicer, more contrast-ier 3000 screen into their 2000 unit will be foiled by a re-sized ribbon connector. (And really ... buy a PSP Brite just to gut it for your PSP Lite?)

That would seem like a large waste of money... As I don't have a PSP I was thinking about picking this one up. That wouldn't be until next year though

You would be surprised at the lengths people will go to to pirate games.
if they don't think the bright can be hacked quickly and they want a brighter screen I can see them wanting to swap screens with the 3000.

Oops, you broke it.

Don't forget the 3000 models also have a built-in microphone so no accessory needed to make Skype calls or play Socom online.

Didn't the original DS Phats have a mic built in? I think that was 2005....

The troll made a point. Therefore, not a troll.

The DS had a built-in mic yes, but it was only used for blowing.
The PSP had games with voice communications long before it got a mic built-in.

wow, what's the point of that?

Well, personally, I'm not one to void warranties, but it's not like opening up an electronic automatically breaks it. And I think it's kind of cool to have a hobby like taking apart things and putting them back together, or figuring things out. It takes a lot more brain power than sitting on your ass, anyway.

Good news, everyone.
The PSP-3K (at least, this one) is using the TA-90 motherboard revision.
The TA-90 does NOT block Pandora's Battery. The TA-88 (used in some PSP-2Ks) does.
This could mean the PSP-3K will be just as easily hacked as previous models.
