This isn't cool. It would be no fun if the screen isn't even rigid enough to support itself. The cylinder idea looks like hell on the hands too.

"Check out the fold-away screen and the (dual analogue, naturally) controls on the cylindrical body. We're not sure how practical it would be, but it certainly looks great."-Yah, as if the analog nub on the PSP is practical NOW?

Not only is this possible, it's even probable. Maybe not as a PSP or anything, but with OLED technology breaking through, we'll see stuff like this hitting the market in the not so distant future.

It costs ten thousand dollars, is completely unplayable, and will break instantly when you place it in your pocket. Truly, the future is a wondrous place....

I know they're already working on screens similar to that http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NcAm3KihFho but I like the current non-floppy PSP.

Do people read? It's not a "floppy" screen, 'an electrical charge holds the screen upright.'

LoL OLEDs cost a bomb.

Do ya know that an 11 inch Sony OLED TV costs $2500...
Still an OLED screen might allow the PSP(2) to view HD vids.

that is probally the worst design ever. i mean imagine holding that shit for like 30 minutes.take a thick ball point pen and pretent you have joysticks and two buttons on the back.

if you were still on this design it'd be best to have two ends, like a scroll.

and what about over time, wouldnt that shit rip apart far too frequently? or even crumple?

i take my kudos and place it else where.

"We're not sure how practical it would be, but it certainly looks great."

Reality: 1
Half-arsed concept with no regard to ergonomics or practicality: 0

Those are the scores so far!

I own a PSP-2000 and usually day dream about redesigns. You may not believe me, but this concept is similar to one I thought of, except mine is better if I may say so, because the screen will roll around not one but TWO cyllinders, one at each end of the thing, pergamin style, so when you roll it open you hold one cylinder with each hand, vertically.

What a bunch of negative bitches. It's people like you that forced Sony to stick with the dual shock rather than go ahead with the bananarang controller. And it's just a mockup/concept. No need to cry now.

You must be one of three humans that would appear to be able to hold the boomerang controller comfortably. Props to u.
