Rock Band 2 gets official PS3 release date, Wii still vague

Much like the eleventh hour "official" announcement of Rock Band 2's release on Xbox 360 back in September, here comes the official announcement for the PS3 and Wii release -- well, at least the PS3 has a date attached to it. The Xbox 360 and PS3 Special Edition Bundles, along with all PS3 related peripherals, will be available this Sunday, Oct. 19.

As for the Wii and PS2, those will come out in "December." Just bask in that nebulous date and be happy that the Wii version is fully featured. A full list of the various products and pricing can be found after the break.

Rock Band 2 shipping and pricing details:

October 19, 2008
Xbox 360 and PS3 Special Edition Bundle; including game, mic, guitar and drums - $190 (The Xbox 360 bundle was not released with the game and standalone peripherals last month.)
PS3 Standalone Software - $60
PS3 and PS2 Standalone Drums - $90
PS3 and PS2 Standalone Guitar - $70

Great news, especially with the fully featured RB2 Wii. Now I can save $50 by just buying the game and drums and using GH III Les Paul :D

Nah, I played RB1 with just the geetar and drums... Not too big a fan of the singing.

USB audio input devices are a dime a dozen anyways.

Enjoy PS3 owners. This is still one of the best party experiences of this generation. Hopefully, compatibility with Activision's hardware will be a bit better this time around for all consoles.

It isn't out yet on the PS3? WTF!? I'm really surprised. It feels like I've had it for a long period of time now, and I just figured that it was already released.

Yeah, it's been about a month. Not a huge wait for me, as I've got lots of other games to keep me busy. But I did play it a bit on my friend's 360... till it gouged the disc :(

Er, that's because MS signed a timed exclusivity deal with EA. Granted, one month isn't a long time, but to MS, it seemed like a good idea. I actually thought the PS3 edition wouldn't be released until November/December to be honest.

Screw SockBand with there propertery dongle & just accepts Guitar Hero's Wee Remote enabled controllers .

Im hoping this is only for Europe cause i was hoping to get rock band 2 on the wii on Nov. 18

I really don't get the whole RB/GH scene. I mean why would you want to make fake music as a "game"?

If you want to make music, take up an instrument.

And if you want to play a game, I am sure there are plenty of titles out there to choose from that are real games.

I already have rock band 2 for ps3 I got it last night haha

I work at an electronics retailer, and we just got the 360 and PS3 bundles in today. Oddly enough, they don't have the usual street date and "do not sell before XX/XX" stickers on them, which theoretically means we can sell them whenever we want.
