While we still believe that nothing beats a crowbar for self-defense, the gun-toting quartet in Left 4 Dead seems to be doing pretty well for itself. According to Valve's Doug Lombardi (via GameDaily), "With just over four weeks until launch, Left 4 Dead is showing every sign of topping The Orange Box on both the PC and Xbox 360, at retail as well as on Steam."
Lombardi said that retail pre-sales are 65% greater the Half-Life 2 mega-pack at the same proximity to launch. We're sure the 10% off pre-order deal helps a bit. Left 4 Dead will arrive November 18.

Damn right, forget L4D and Valve, they are old and busted. Valve is the new hotness. When HL3 comes out, Valve is going to kick Valve's ass.

It's nice to see projected success for VALVe, they certainly deserve it.
As for L4D, I'm excited about this game in a big way. Having recently spent some time researching the gameplay and watching videos, I myself feel like one of the infected, walking around as an empty shell of a human as my mind is focused on the game and how much fun it will bring.

Fairly sure that the Orange Box had a 10% deal for pre-order.
Heck, doesn't Valve do this for all Valve games, and most other big titles, that are sold on Steam ?
Pretty sure that has nothing to do with it's popularity.
