Nope. Guitar Hero seems to support the platform better, and supports it better in Europe (hopefully more players this way online?).

Mostly, I just want cymbals (I play drums...real ones...not plastic ones...). And I don't want to have to buy add-on hardware to have them...

Considering I have Rock Band stuff already for Wii I'm already on board for Rock Band 2.

I'm just hoping that the instruments will be compatible with GH: World Tour like the rumors are saying so I can just pick up the game by itself.

Nope. GH is my nerd drug of choice. And besides, Harmonix said that it couldn't be done, uh uh uh no online uh uh uh no DLC. Whatever, Activision solved it for us. Haha Rock Band, you smell.

I want to be on board with Guitar Hero because of the way Harmonix has treated the Wii, but as a music fan, Rock Band flat out has better songs. This was almost enough to sway me toward RB, but with the promise of DLC (of which Rock Band already clearly has the better selection), I'm solidly on board with Rock Band now.

My greatest hope is that RB1 for the Wii will be compatible with the new RB2 instruments, so I can pick up a used disc of RB1 somewhere.

I am glad for GHWT's existence though, and the fact that DLC on GHWT basically forced RB2 to have it as well. Competition is good.

With the latest news from Harmonix's forums--by a dev in a stickied topic--about RB2 compatibility with GH3 guitars (and hopefully GHWT as well), I am now considering purchasing the RB2 disc alongside the GHWT full band kit.

I've already got GH hardware, and thus will be buying GH software. If they can quit being jerks and make the hardware on the Wii versions of the game cross compatible, I'll think about buying it. They do have some good songs on there after all.

If I had confidence that the SD card solution would work fluidly for downloadable content or if Nintendo had addressed the storage issue by releasing a hard drive that integrated with the Wii's OS then I would have been tempted by both Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero:World Tour on the Wii. As much as I love our little white system and will continue to support its original 1st and 3rd party offerings in the future, I've decided to purchase a PS3 for my music game needs.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the use of friend codes. I loved the idea that GH3 had online play, but rarely used it because of how impersonal it was and the friend code thing. If EA can use their networks and get around friend codes on other games, I would think RB2 would be the same? Would GH:WT change up the online offering significantly? To me, the online experience will matter this time around.

It sounds like, from news on yesterday's RB/GH posting and comments, RB2 will be compatible with GHWT's instruments, but not vice versa (and I didn't get the impression that RB1 would be compatible). That was enough to get me convinced to preorder GHWT; I'll pick up the RB2 game-only when I tire of the songs on GHWT (although in all honesty, about 3/4 of the songs I'm MOST excited about are the ones on both).

The announcement I saw yesterday only mentioned that GH guitars would be compatible with RB2 -- has there been any word on drums?

Since the GHWT drums will also work off the Wiimote, there's no technical reason RB2 can't also recognize them; I'm just wondering since that wasn't in the wording of the announcement. Hope it will!

I already have a Guitar for GH so I'm going with World Tour. But I plan on getting RB2 at some point because it does have a much larger colection of songs.

I'm tempted, yes, because I could import all the Rock Band 1 songs over in addition to the songs that are already on the RB2 disc, and Harmonix-made games are much more faithful to the music. Rock Band also has wired drums, which means I wouldn't need to buy a third Wiimote just to play the game.

However, GH:WT has a better drumset, and Tool. So basically, I'm gonna wait this one out, and the first game I can get for $120 or less (including that extra wiimote for GH:WT) gets my money, unless RB plays nice with GH:WT instruments, in which case I'll have to get that.

Already preordered GHWT but since Harmonix announced GH guitars will be compatible and the Wii will get access to the back catalog of DLC, I'll definitely grab RB2 as well -- I'd consider it worth it for "Aqualung" and Rush's Moving Pictures alone. Hope they make the GHWT drums compatible as well!

If I remember right, the wording of the announcement said only that the GH3 Les Paul was compatible with RB2. But since that and the new WT guitar are both basically classic controllers, I assume (perhaps wrongly) that it applies. I'd figure the same of the drums for the same reason... and the mic is just a USB mic either way, right? I have a GH3 Les Paul anyway, so it's still worth it to me to get RB2 just for the guitar, but it would definitely be even more worth it if my entire GHWT pack worked. Do we have any idea - maybe based on 360/PS3 - how much space an average single DLC song might take up on Wii? I want to know how far I can stretch a 2GB card, or if I'm going to have to buy a GH one *and* a Rock Band one.

I think 360/PS3 DLC is in the range of 20-30MB/song maybe? Wonder if they could shrink that a bit on the Wii considering our unique issues.

Yes, USB mics are totally compatible.

Your reasoning on the drums is solid; I'm hoping the same thing but not assuming anything until I see official word.

I'm definitely buying the GHWT band set. But if the GHWT drums and guitars are compatible with RB2, then I might just buy the RB2 disc(though, I probably won't be getting any RB/RB2 DLC...fix that DLC swapping mess and pick up GHWT's SD solution!)

In June they said that online and DLC wasn't even possible on the wii.

In November its cool tho?

To hell with them... they use the wii as a quick cash in when they didn't bet on it in the first place... GH actually seems to support the system... I'll stay with that.

I've lost all interest in the Rock Band franchise since the gimped Wii version. Even thinking about it makes my cheeks burn.

It's certainly encouraging that it will have online functions. But what frustrates me is that the graphics are pre-recorded from one of the superior versions; would it really take that much work to 'dumb-down' the Wii version's graphics? I'd really love to make my own character, thanks.

It will be GT WT all the way soley becuase of the batteries needed for RB 1 and 2 controllers. There is so much money to be saved by using the Wii controlers with rechargable battery packs that makes GT WT and GTiii so much nicer. What you pay for batteries for rock band controlers is more then downloadable content.
