Wii's Rock Band 2 has RB 1 DLC, works with GH III controller
IGN managed to score some new details about the Wii version of Rock Band 2, and it's nothing but good news for fans of the little white box. First off, cheapskates will be relieved to hear that they won't have to toss the Wii Guitar Hero III controllers they decorated with their favorite As I Lay Dying and Tokio Hotel stickers; they'll be compatible with RB 2. Accordingly, the ICM has been updated.
Also, all of the 360/PS3 Rock Band 1 DLC will be available for Wii when Rock Band 2 drops on the system in December, great news for those who jealously eyed their 360 and PS3-owning friends as they thrashed through Jimmy Buffet's "Volcano."

As a Wii owner w/ GHIII (and I skipped RB1), this is great news. Was planning on just buying the GH:WT disc & using the GHIII LesPaul for now.
NOw, I can do RB2 as well & still have just one guitar.
That said, the GH:WT gtr is also looking nice, so will IT work w/ RB2?

Since i'm pretty sure World Tour's controller works off the same principle, i doubt Wii would be able to tell the difference

Trying to keep up with GHWT eh? Who's the copycat now?

Good to see Harmonix get their act together. Even if you disregarded the whole DLC thing, RB1 Wii was just pathetic.

Well, that ends the lead that GH:WT had for Wii owners. Now we hafta see whether GH:WT is compatible with RB2, and it'll be an all-out brawl. Personally, I just want compatibility so I can still play Crazy Train and Hot for Teacher.

I just want to point out the amusing effect of you posting right under Mr. Khan and his current name.

McElroy just back away from Jimmy Buffet man! Don't make me come after you! Us Floridians don't take kindly to jokes about James.

Bill Kaulitz is a very pretty girl

I hate to nitpick, but can we get a new stock photo for Rock Band articles? That one is from a beta/demo version 18 months ago and looks nothing like the real software.

This actually popped a crazy idea into my head. I could get GH:WT for my Wii and have RB2 for my 360. mmmm delicious.

Now, can we get news that the GH:WT drums will work somehow with RB2? I might just buy the solo RB2 game.
jsn @ Oct 16th 2008 1:28PM
you'd be better off going the other way.
SKI @ Oct 16th 2008 2:31PM
Why? GH's drums and guitar look much better then Rock Bands.
Ghoti @ Oct 16th 2008 3:23PM
I'm a little worried about the long-term life of the "cymbal" pads on the GH:WT drums. I agree it looks pretty nice though.
Guitar wise, the Rock Band 2 guitar is gorgeous. Best looking one released so far. Plus playing it is a dream. I assume the Wii version will look the same.
BPMOmega [gamertag] @ Oct 16th 2008 1:36PM
Good to hear they're not kicking the Wii version like a dead puppy.
However, I think I'll be picking up the 360 version instead (eventually).

Ok, guys, I would like a clarification. The new ICM says that the Wii GH3 guitar works with RB2, but the Wii Aerosmith guitar doesn't. How can that be? Isn't the Aerosmith guitar the same as the GH3 guitar, just with an Aerosmith faceplate?
jinn35 @ Oct 16th 2008 3:51PM
i belive you are right. I think they are the same guitars.
Jestersage @ Oct 17th 2008 2:42AM
Was debating, then I found out that it will come at December, while GHWT will come in ten days. The fact that it will comes in 10 days, plaus harder songs, seals the deal for me.
