Didn't they delay Metal Gear Solid 2 to make adjustments to the background (twin towers) because of 9/11? And I'm sure if Sony knew about the whole manchester cathedral to be offensive in Resistance, they'd of delayed it too. While these companies probably have the lawyers and such to take on such issues...it just comes down to time and is it worth it? In this case...I have a feeling someone thought it was...even if 90% don't care.

Its a shame. Just heard the song and I thought it was fantastic. Don't understand a lick of what he's saying...but it sounds good. Hope alot of the other music in this game is fun like this.

"Religious censorship is the means by which any material objectionable to a certain faith is removed. This often involves a dominant religion forcing limitations on less prevalent ones. Alternatively, one religion may shun the works of another when they believe the content is not appropriate for their faith."

First off it is just 2 words: the context is what is important... which is just silly.

More importantly

Religion should not affect the lives of others who (IMO are clever enough, but w/e) do not believe in these things.

To do so is extremely wrong, immoral and illegal and at some point will be properly and legally challenged in the law courts: I for one intend to do this at the first opportunity (I have already successfully won a civil case against a devout Jew who called me immoral for not "believing").

The world should be ruled by the people and the legal process (even if it is flawed) NOT by belief.

Rather stupid IMO.

(if he song were OFFENSIVE then it might be another matter.. but it's not)

Though i understand the position Sony took, this is ridiculous. I bet the people who complained didn't know about the song, they heard the Arabic citing and got an erection. Now they should be sued for not complaining/getting offended by the song which has been around for two years.

What I don't understand... Toumani Diabaté is a muslim! why would he attempt to insult his own faith? Anyone who can understand the Islamic references in his music (I can't.... its not in english!!??) could understand that its not offensive...

Just an example of how stupid people in decision making authorities can be....

The reason for the double standard is simple. Christians don't threaten to kill people and bomb shit when they get /butthurt.

Whoever said muslims were complaining? The song itself is not controversial, there's no reason why placing it in a game would be. Sony is just being dumb.

What I don't understand, is this game has been done and running on beta for a while. How is it that MM and Sony miss this song, as they obviously must have gone through various discussion with about getting the rights to have the song in the game.

Second off, how the hell did Sony piece together that they have to cut the game off and delay it? Why couldnt they send a notice to the distributors about the content, explain about the issues, and offer both either the patch at launch solution, or a number to call to provide address info for a disc to be mailed to the people who want the content removed if they don't have internet access.

There's no way trashing and reprinting all those discs, which have got to be bluray (I'm assuming anyway), and delaying the release and possible loss of business, is less than printitng patches on standard discs and hiring temps on for their call center.

If they didn't remove the track then bad things would be almost certain to happen. Death threats being sent to employees of Sony and MM would be a sad reality. The story would creep its way into the mainstream media, and even though it's likely most western media would support the right to include the track, it would still be considered bad publicity.

It's terrorism. Sadly, most Muslims are prepared to abuse the fact that there are large radical sections of religion to get their own way. People need to realize that just because most Muslims are not the ones threatening people, it doesn't mean they aren't using that subtext to pervert political correctness in their favor.

I'm sick of being under Allah's thumb.
