LittleBigPlanet has been delayed for an unspecified amount of time in Europe. Originally expected to launch next week, future friends of SackBoy may need to wait until mid-November. GI.biz reports that some retailers are listing November 14th as the new release date.
Why the delay? Well, here's where things get ... sensitive. According to VG247, LBP is already in many stores, suggesting the game is facing a possible recall. The site points to a cached thread on the Official PlayStation Forums, which claims the game has mixed several passages from the Qur'an with music (heard here). Last year, a similar issue forced Capcom to remove Islamic phrases from Zack & Wiki.
We've contacted Sony to find out if the North America version will also be delayed and will update as soon as we hear back. A statement from SCEE about the European delay is expected shortly.
Update: SCEE confirms and notes delay is effective "worldwide" due to the Qur'an references.

Radical morons. Get your shit together and stop complaining about things that don't matter. There are far greater problems in the world.
By the way, the song's kind of catchy.

To people who strongly believe in their religion, nothing is more important. In this context, I can understand why they would freak out over something like this.
Still, it's pretty dumb.

Sorry, that sounded harsh, but I wanted to get the point across that this whole "controversy" is totally pointless. The passages from the Qur'an are not used in any insensitive way.

How do these people know that these verses are in the Qur'an? A staggering number of Islamic people are illiterate, as are many clerics themselves. Tons of Muslims only know what they've been told the Qur'an says, yet frequently they never seem to hear about the parts where they say things like "live in peace with your monotheistic brothers, for they are your family in God" and stuff like that. But why would that be important? Duping poor, uneducated people in blowing themselves up is way more convenient to the leaders over there, who probably don't give a fuck about religion at all and are just as power hungry as the next despot. I think we shouldn't delay the game until 2 in 3 muslims in the middle east can actually find the passages in the Qur'an and point them out, because currently they are being led by the nose by their corrupt theocracies. This is not meant to offend any muslims, but I'm perfectly okay with offending anyone who thinks rulers like those in Iran are anything but evil.

Here are a few details about the song that is in the middle of this idiocy.
The name of the song is "Tapha Niang". The artist is Toumani Diabate, who is himself a DEVOUT MUSLIM.

I'm really hoping it doesn't get delayed here. I was planning on getting some LBP in in late Oct and early November. If it gets delayed beyond the Gears 2 release, it's going to have to wait a LONG time.

Hey metal, that may be true. However, not everyone uses religion as an escape, which you seem to imply. Some ppl don't like knowing that they may go to hell. They'd rather believe in heaven or that nothing happens.
For example, I wanted to blow my brains out when i heard FF13 will be multiplatform... but I don't want to go hell. :( Cause in hell, FF will be exclusive to Microsoft consoles.
*Sigh* so I have to accept it. damn you religion!
See what I mean? It can be a burden as well.

Let's get all the information first before you start calling us pussies, and whatnot. It's not Europe bowing down to the religious right, it's SOE protecting their investment against a perceived threat; Sony have a lot riding on this as we all know. There was the Church of England vs Resistance last year, or so. Did Sony backtrack then? I can't remember.
Anyway, this is bullshit. There isn't one, definitive, interpretation of the quran, and I'm pretty sure there'd be a group who'd disagree with the complainant.

"On 6 July 2007, Sony issued an unreserved apology to Manchester Cathedral by publishing it in the Manchester Evening News."
"The Cathedral officials made two demands — that the game be withdrawn from sale, and that Sony apologize unreservedly. They also requested a "substantial donation"
"There was no word if they were still seeking a donation from Sony."

Who cares if the qur'an was misused. It is just a book. People take their bibles, qur'ans, and toras too seriously. If people would lighten up we wouldn't have psycho religious terrorists, nor would we have had the inquisition and other "holy" wars.

Islamization of the western world is a great thing, indeed...
It's really amazing how we bend over to every request from the muslim community, be it a dog (!) in an advertisement which "offends" them or whatever.
Mosques are being built with tax payers money in many European countries, try to build a church in Saudi-Arabia and you'll be beheaded.

I'm all for the freedom of speech, but I'm just wondering what they were thinking when they were making this game targeted at a mainstream demographic.
The general rule is to avoid taboo such as sex, religion, race and politics. It's pure and simple marketing.
This sounds more like an accident from their behalf, and it also reminds us how overly sensitive we are as a population to these issues.

Ok, enough of the America and Europe bashing...this is ridiculous.
First, Americans do not think Europe is one country, but you do have a unified currency.
Second, who the hell cares WHO started slavery...it isn't around in civilized countries anymore, and is irrelevant to the post.
Third, I agree that Europeans have lost some of their culture and identity by allowing such a massive influx of Muslim immigrants...England and Spain in particular are FUCKED.
Fourth, if the rest of the world doesn't wake the fuck up and see that Islam is calling the shots on what should and should not be censored through TERRORISM in the name of religion, we will all be fucked!
They don't want to watch South Park...FINE!
They want to burn American flags in their streets (I'm offended by THAT), FINE!
We want to make cartoons parodying Chritianity, Judaism, and ISLAM...OK BY ME!
Screw them terrorist bastards! I'm sick of the appesement of Muslims.
I'm normally an accepting person of all races/religions, but the fact that THEY do not reciprocate means all bets are off.
Remember...it is MUSLIMS who are hateful and predjudiced, and if Westerners now feel that way, guess what? They have THEMSELVES to blame!

I've been saying this for years. The Koran was written by an warlord that decided to create his own religion to subjugate people. He stole bits of Judaism and Christianity and took the name of the Sabian's pagan moon-god "al-ilah" as his god's name. He used his hodgepodge of religions to conquer and convert the surrounding tribes (with the goal of subjugating the entire world). Those that did not convert to Islam were bounty to be killed, raped, or sold into slavery according to his instruction. The rules that permit (and even instruct) the dire treatment of "infidels" is clearly outlined in the Koran and remains part of Islamic dogma today.
The nations of the EU have been backed into a corner with uncontrolled Muslim immigration and now they are too weak and frightened to stand up to it. Compound this with the disastrously low birthrates of native Europeans in comparison with the high birthrates of those from the middle east and you can guess what will happen.
For anyone foolish enough to claim that Jews, Hindus, Christians, etc are all violent. I would ask for any specific examples in their teachings that gives the practitioners free license to kill. When Muslims commit violence, its because they are actually doing what the Koran commands of them.
Islam needs to disavow itself from those passages in the Koran that instruct its followers to conquer and convert by the sword. Until then, it can never be treated as a peaceful religion.

As I recall, something similar happened with "Resistance: Fall of Man" with the some Catholic Church being represented in-game and people getting sued.
As I recall, everybody (myself included) thought that that was pretty stupid.
Honestly, I have to say I feel the same way about this. This is absolutely freaking retarded. If you're offended, don't buy the game.
There are MANY games out there that are offensive to me, and you know what? I don't buy them! Duh!

Don't we under our constitution have a right to CHOOSE weather we feel the content is ok, by choose i mean we can CHOOSE to buy or not to buy the game. Whats the point of a constitution if some dumbass small muslum group is going to decide for us what is offensive or not. If its offensive to them then dont buy it. I think some of the language and vulgarity on todays television is offensive but they aren't cancelling broadcasts over my feelings now are they.
What does their country and its religion have to do with our freedom of choice.

As a matter a fact I am offended that they held this game back that I wanted more than upset about any Qur'ran reference. Once they start taking quotes and mixing them around to form sentances like "All Muslims love O'sama" I'll be offended, until then I think I"m good......
