Why did you reserve them at two different stores in the same chain?

Fallout was reserved at the EBG next to where I was working at the time, and LBP was later reserved at the EBG next to my apartment, which I wasn't living in when I ordered Fallout.

I never inquired about transferring my Fallout reserve since I figured I could pick it up when I was at work. That kinda changed a smidge when they laid me off last week, so it's gone from "on my way" to "out of my way", which still wasn't an issue until now.

I suppose they could still transfer the reserve with a week notice, though, eh?

Heh, just got a call from my roomie, a EBG ASM at another EBG (for a small town, Burlington has 6 EBGs) saying that they've had LBP arrive today.

No, I'm not getting an early copy, he's another one of those "smart people" we've heard of in stores, but he's told me there's no memo yet to ship them back.

Honestly, Sony should have done what Harmonix did with Rockband Wii and just made it an optional recall in addition to the patch. Less screams and moans from the peanut gallery that way (yes, I know that includes me).

No, because Christians don't think it's blasphemous to quote the Bible in songs.

Now, if it was content that could be offensive to Christians - or indeed, anyone - I have no doubt at all that Sony would have reacted the same way.

LBP is meant to be about sharing and community, and is meant to be family friendly, so you can see why they would delay it in order to avoid offending *anyone*.

(Don't get me wrong, I still think the whole affair is stupid. Seriously, who gets offended over song lyrics?)

That's a lot of wasted discs cutting into a probably already slim profit margin. I wonder who is going to feel the pinch more; SCE, MediaMolecule or the stupid fuck they're going to sue. Yes, this will end up in court.

it's just a shame that people aren't focusing on the real issues and gamers are only thinking about the game's delay as the issue, and not the stripping of perfectly acceptable content. Personally I don't give a damn about the delay, tons of games to play this holiday season. Hell they could delay it till January and I wouldn't care, as long as it wasn't to do something as idiotic as this...

here's where it all started

No, no, no, YOU don't understand. The game delay isn't entirely the issue...the REASON behind the delay is. This is by far one of the most completely ridiculous and outrageous moves I've ever seen. The "worldwide" delay of a corporate product because of one piss ass, cry baby religion? Oh, I'm sorry, did I offend someone that is Muslim? TOO BAD, GET OVER IT!!! I'm a white male, between the ages of 25-55, have a job, a home, and a family. I pay taxes and contribute to society, yet my demographic is blamed for every problem in the modern word. We've been portrayed as a bumbling idiot on every national sitcom and every four years, during an election, I'm reminded of why my slight "republican" views make me wrong about everything. OH...and on top of all of that my descent is German...so, if I were to take anything away from this latest Muslim outcry, it would be that that I should be furious about shooting Nazis in games for the last 20 years of my life, wouldn't it?...but I've said nothing. Why haven't I? BECAUSE ITS JUST A F*ING GAME SHARED ACROSS THE WORLD BY MILLIONS OF PEOPLE FROM DIFFERENT WALKS OF LIFE!!! I'm mature enough to understand that someone can't please ALL the people ALL of the time. That's a fact of life. I have no problem with people who have different beliefs and religions. In fact, I think it's great, more power to them - variety is the spice of life...but to cause the WORLDWIDE delay of a product because of something as simple as BACKGROUND MUSIC in a game that if this news story would've never broke, hardly anyone in the world would even have noticed? We might as well shut down Amazon and iTunes because they have been selling the song the whole time. That's when religion has taken over, and those who follow it have lost all sense of reality. If one truly thinks the song in Little Big Planet is "offensive", and just can not accept that its place is in a worldwide product meant to be "lighthearted" and bring the world together into a common "community", then I'm sorry. YOU ARE THE PROBLEM!!! That's it. I'm embarrassed that I've spent this much time and effort on this subject. If you want to flame me for what if said...I say "bring it!" Challenge me! I'm sick of religious extremists and I'm ready to throw down. I challenge you! Convince me that a move like this improves the world we live in!!!

Wow. Unfortunately I read your diarrhea. No, I don't blame you for every problem in the modern "word", nobody else does either, but if you're fixated on feeling that way, so be it, many are. I'm embarrassed as well that you spent so much time on your post.

To your closing point, nobody on earth is suggesting this improves the world we live in, nobody. It was a BUSINESS decision. That means nobody gives a shit about improving the world you live in.

Look, I'm 100% German as well, and I don't give a shit either. It's business, it's not about handing out warm fuzzies and making the world hold hands and feel better.

Please understand I'm not directing this next statement at you, at all. I'm really not, I hope you understand I got sent off on a tangent. But one of the things that most annoys me 'nowadays' is whiny ass white men. I'm a white male myself. But this country is so full of whiny ass white people who feel entitled to anything they want it blows my effing mind.

Media Molecule has made a statement regarding the disappointing LittleBigPlanet delay. It's clear they're gutted about the situation (as are we), but overall the blog post remains upbeat. Apparently a patch and an updated master disc was ready less than 12 hours after the offensive material was discovered. This patch is ready to go the second the game is launched and will somehow fix the problem. Sony has seen fit to recall the game and delay it, regardless.

Why not Patch??

While I have nothing but respect for the religion of Islam, I think people are blowing this slightly out of proportion. This isn't an FPS like COD4 where you are slaughtering Muslim "terrorists", this is a cute platformer where the main character is made out a burlap sack and perpetually smiles. Maybe MM should just patch it and make it an option to turn off the music for those who are offended. I'm sure they didn't purposely pick it to offend a religion; if I had to make a guess I would say it goes well with the level or else they wouldn't have picked it. I don't mean to offend anyone, but I think this is making a mountain out of a molehill.

How is this a double standard?

I've never heard of a video game containing anything along the lines of "Jesus was a f*$cking bastard, glad he's head."

Games haven't gone out of the way to insult Christians or what they believe in.

Why should it be any different for Muslims?

I have a feeling that this delay is being used to patch up control issues within the game and not about some song that may offend some people(radical muslims). Media Mol. has surely read the online reviews and are possibly trying to adjust some things prior to general release. Also, if there were passaages from the Bible in an song no one would give a shit. Political correctness always wins though.
