Soulcalibur IV getting Vader and Yoda DLC

It seems when Namco Bandai told us Darth Vader and Yoda would remain trapped in their respective console domains, it was only true ... from a certain point of view. The company has shockingly confirmed that, due to "overwhelming fan response," those suspiciously blank character portraits in the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Soulcalibur IV will soon be filled in by a downloadable Darth Vader or Yoda. Good job, fans, we're sure Namco would never have figured out how to make money like this on its own.

The proper Star Wars showdown will begin on October 23rd, provided you're willing to pay 400

and $5 for a hyperventilating throat crusher and his little green friend, respectively. And just so we can work in another tedious reference, we'll add: We pray Namco doesn't alter the deal any further. Good one, us!

And Vader moves like a tank, so it's not like he's an excellent character to fight as, either.

Um... no. The character is so broken and incomplete he's pretty easy to play against actually... Not as weak-sauce/easy as Vader, but still... neither character should give you any trouble unless you're playing with the apprentice (who is equally broken).

Whatever, SC releases console specific characters, get over it.

For those that don't want to drop the $5, this is no different than SC2, just pretend you don't have any way to get the character.

This is just an option for the big fans of the game to get something that otherwise would not have been available AT ALL.

I'm sure there are plenty of people that wish they would've had the option to pay $5 and get link in their PS2 version of SC2.

Most of the big fans of the game I know (myself included) were pissed/unhappy about the inclusion of these characters... I suspect this DLC will sell more to star wars fans than SC fans...

I really wish SOMEONE (hint, joystiq, hint) would take companies to task for charging to unlock content that is already on the disc. I know, I know, it's not a scam, but it's dishonest and hurtful to a companies loyal customers.

I'm thinking I'm going to buy games EXCLUSIVELY "pre-played" from now on. But then, that feeds another beast I don't care too much for. I really just want a consumer advocate in the limelight to stroke my hair and tell me everything is going to be alright as I'm filched, I guess.

I wonder, if we'd had DLC back on the cube, xbox, ps2, would Namco-Bandai had released the other console exclusive characters as DLC

I can see Spawn and Heihatchi on Nintendo, but Link on Xbox and PS?????

Dude, lets be fair, NO star wars characters should have been in SCIV. If the world needs a fucking Star Wars fighting game, Lucasarts should get to work on Masters of The Teras Kasi 2; but mucking up SCIV with them is just wrong.

Well I'll tell you right now. I have the ps3 version of Soul Calibur 4 and Darth Vader is absolutely the worst character in the whole game. He moves like a brick and has almost no decent combos to use either.

Yes, he is slow, but man, he is so overpowered i played through hard with him like a candy, while I have problems with Sophitia or Cassandra (my 2 best of the game)

I still say it would have been awesome had they left them separated and allowed cross-platform battles online. Vader PS3 vs. Yoda X360 online would have been sweet.

For my part...Vader is worth $5...think about...most spend $5 for a silly 89c coffee at Starbucks...

But how about a DLC patch that REMOVES all traces of Star Wars characters from the game? I'd seriously consider that one.

I bet you the download content doesn't really do anything other than unlock content. That was already buried inside each disc. In other words. They had the idea to do this all along. So in each game. The characters were in the final code, but impossible to unlock. Unless NAMCO sells you this 400 point DLC. Sneaky Namco.

Everyone knows that every games that is built on 360 then ported to ps3 are shotty...... you post these links to prove your point that ps3 version is a POS in comparision but they hold no weight.

Actually neither characters are already on the disc, only their move data is, so this is at least a proper download.

But aside from a few fanboys who refused to believe it, I think everyone knew this would happen eventually, and the blank charatcer slot is just ridiculous. They should have been included from the begining, or been free.

So where the hell is Darth Vader? It's October 23rd and he's not in the download section
